    450/400 3" double as a stopping rifle?

Same caliber, different context. I’ve read (I forget where) that Elmer Keith opined if he were crawling through the bush in Alaska after grizzlies he’d want his double .450/400 over anything else in his battery.

    Loss of faith in gun

I changed CCW pieces for this reason. It’s also the same reason I put everything on paper before any trip or season—there are some days when the weather is crap, you’re tired, its been a grueling few days, but you can always fall back on the confidence you have in your equipment.

If you live in a reliably red county you probably should invest in some extra fire extinguishers because all the Trump voters are about to take to the streets to burn and loot just like the other side did in 2020 after Floyd died in Minneapolis. Wait? What’s that? There’s zero chance of that...

Help me pick my next R8 caliber

Agreed and valid. I was working with the assumption that the OP could use those and not have to swap the bolt face. I didn’t even know that .22 LR was an option, TBH.

I don’t think there was some grand conspiracy here, and your opinion of Trump is obvious, but try to remember how his core supporters are looking at this. The FBI unjustly surveilled his 2016 campaign. The former FBI director would regularly make ambiguous statements that would elude to Trump...

Everybody seeing this News Break: Trump shot?

Everyone should take a knee and relax a little. Trump is alright. Anything that gets reported tonight will likely be wrong. I recommend reading up on a fellow hunting enthusiast, Theodore Roosevelt, and the attempt on his life in the 1912 election. If you have Edmund Morris’s excellent three...

Everybody seeing this News Break: Trump shot?

Biden can barely walk across a stage or up stairs without falling over. Smash cut to this…no contest. I sincerely hope this is the event that decreases the political fever this country has had for far too long.

    Frustration with doctor

You sound like Slim Pickens reading off the contents of his survival kit in “Dr. Strangelove”! Good to be prepared. IDK why anyone would risk a five figure trip without some basics of meds. Certainly most of these go unused, but why risk it?

Help me pick my next R8 caliber

Do you hand load? The reason I ask is if you do not, I’d recommend .308 for availability of cheap practice ammo. Your 9.3mm will cover all your European/PG from both a ballistic and availability of ammunition perspective. If you can hand load your own practice ammo, then go with ‘06.

416 Rigby powder using Barnes 400 Grs TSX

I had excellent results with Hybrid 100V, but only invested in one pound for load dev. By the time I had it dialed in, 100V had disappeared. I think anything in the 4350-4831 burn rate range would be adequate.

    Question for military/LE

The short answers to your question are yes, an SMG would probably “be better” for that application, but the Army decided long ago that they’d rather have one rifle that does most everything barely adequately than several platforms that have specific applications. That’s a sweeping statement with...
