Politics

Never underestimate rigged voting machines, and the power of stupid people in large groups.

As Mike Lindell said " Voting machines need to be melted down, and made into prison bars"
No election should be over until cheaters are brought on charges, no matter how small the infraction.

As I do not know very much about US-politics -I am from Germany-, I depend on European and US media- but this thread gives me interesting insights about the mindset of, as I think, rather conservative US-Citizens, many of whom seem to adore Mr.Trump. When I went to school in the 50ies and 60ies, the United States for me were an example of democratic structures and a stable political system.
Now when I follow the political discussions in this thread, and the aggressive, despicable way many speak about other Americans, who just happen to have another political agenda, I wonder what has become of my political model of many years....
Even we are not immune to the socialists plots to pit one group against another until a society falls into their hands...

Spouting off again ,...he is it seems...

Trump - with respect to his choices for the Senate and House - was largely spanked during this election. Regrettably, he has a large following within the party that forgives him anything. If you go on any of the conservative sites today (Red State, Don Suber, CFP, or Breitbart are a good start) and read the comments they have convinced themselves that the "dear leader" is flawless, hence the elections were stolen, and Ron DeSantis had better mind his place.

Donald Trump would rather destroy DeSantis and the party's chance of victory in '24 than admit he may have misjudged the political environment. I grow more sick of this man hourly.

Trump narrowly won in 2016 against the all-time worst political candidate for any office. He then lost control of Congress and followed up with a loss of his office to the second-worst political candidate of all time. Yesterday, most of his picks went down in flames! It is time the Republican Party divorce him. We need a winner not a loser leading the GOP.

Nope, I can tell you my players or students in the last decade were never appeased.

In all seriousness, how many of your players were the kids with blue hair? I imagine not many came out to play football..

From my own experiences, I can apply that same "new way" to new police recruits I have seen in the last decade or so, and it does not correlate with your experiences. The minimum requirement standards have been lowered so badly to accommodate these kinder, gentler individuals it is laughable.. That, combined with affirmative action practices that are designed specifically to check boxes has failed miserably. Some of these individuals have actually successfully sued their hiring cities and counties for harassment for trying to hold them to the bare minimum standards that they cannot meet. It is pathetic and a perfect example of how "equity" policies are destined to fail. The result is that you have an ever-expanding crop of soft, weak, emotionally coddled police officers on the streets that cannot protect themselves or each other let alone the public.

You may have found a different way that worked with kids who were not already indoctrinated. You are of course entitled to your assessment. I am sticking with mine..

And, by the way, I don't call people morons or idiots for disagreeing with me unless some action that they took was actually representative of being a moron or idiot, and voting based on emotion rather than information is moronic.

Did ask some people about the abortion issue being a big item on the agenda....they didn't seem to think it was....I thought at the time looking from outside they were not taking it seriously enough.....but :E Shrug: ...on BBC

Typical of the more thoughtful pieces today. Also what is typical of those today, the author dances very carefully around the Trump issue because Trump supporters are devoted to - well - Trump. I don't want to sound like a nut job progressive, but devotion to the leader regardless of policy or result is pretty close to the definition of insanity or perhaps even fascism. It is a cult of personality.

I am not a follower of anyone. To paraphrase Kari Lake (with whom I am genuinely impressed), I am conducting a job search for the person I trust to be President. DeSantis passed the interview with flying colors. Trump seems determined to try and spin his.

You can pick all the winners you want, but if the media successfully makes a sexist bigot out of your guy he's doomed. Trump is an asshole but really did some good things policy wise. People still voted against him and for a vegetable because he put out mean tweets and they have no clue what he did policy wise.

People here in WI voted for a criminal releasing and baby killing advocate Evers over Michels because a woman was supposedly groped at the company he owned. I'm sure the soft spoken, old white guy seems like a safe vote for many. Not to mention the overwhelming black vote the dems always get.

All true, but in large part it was not his fault but after being hammered for his whole presidency for things that were not criminal, two bogus impeachments, and a nation full of hand wringing girlie men and the complete wuzification of men to boot!
Women, well women often have different criteria for what makes a good president which Trump was. I am not a so called cultive type, and Trump is certainly not perfect, he is a flawed person as we all are.
So to try to say that this is Trumps fault is missing the point.
The real fault is the ignorance and stupidity of the average American voter that cannot separate what is good for America from what is good for them personally. JFK said it right but that is long forgotten, its all about ME in the last 50 or so years.
What can govt give ME, I WANT more free stuff and high prices and crime be damned, it dont matter as long as I get my stuff and Uncle Sam is taking care of me.
Do I sometimes wish Trump would just shut the Hell up? Sure, but I look beyond the bombast, tweets and snark and look at what he did, which was put this country back on its feet despite being hit from all sides for 4 years in an attempt to destroy him, which is working.

I would prefer someone like DeSantis to be our nominee next time as he might, might have a better chance of winning depending on who the demtards run.
But if Trump is our nominee he has my vote.
I frankly get a little tired of the blame Trump mantra. He wasnt on the ballot anywhere.

BREAKING: GOP consultants say
@HerschelWalker
can win GA runoff as the party spends big explaining a vote for Walker is a vote against
@SenSchumer
. BUT he will likely lose if Donald Trump campaigns for him because it will be a campaign for Trump that voters rejected

_______________

I agree with said GOP consultants on this.
Trump is killing the GOP.

More Gasparino on FOX business earlier today, after talking to some pro Republican Wall Street insiders:
"After last night, Trump is unelectable.
Trump will run in 2024."

I think the midterms have proven a few things

1. Trumpist Republicanism isn’t the future and isnt popular. He won 2016 because people hated Hillary. 2020 people rejected Trumpism. The midterms proved it, as Trump candidates lost.

2. Sharp contrast and clear policy is vital to winning elections. Desantis won and republicans in Florida won because of the sharp contrast. America is a naturally conservative country on individual issues and we need to campaign with that in mind. Moderates don’t win elections because the people don’t have a sharp enough contrast to choose from.

3. Good candidates are vital

Overall the midterms have shown the Republican Party what we need to become and how to really campaign.

The Trump era is over and we need to move on if we want to really win.

More like: There are still people stupid enough to support me.

Republicans need to decide if we want to be a major political party or not. We need leaders who can persuade independent voters that they will prosper under the policies we support. This won’t convince the leftists…nothing will. But it will allow Republicans to forge a working coalition with centrists and win elections. One thing I think is clear….Trump ain’t the guy to persuade them! We tried this in the 1980s and it worked. Reagan was persuasive and he enjoyed the support of most centrists, even a lot of right-center Democrats. We can do the same, by electing persuasive candidates who can convince enough of the center that they will be better off with Republicans and the conservative policies they support. Or we can continue losing.

Other things aside, I view the situation as almost hopeless for the future. If under current circumstances and leadership, with almost all the polls showing a red wave, and 75% of Americans polling that the country is going in the wrong direction, and this is what we end up with?

What happened to those folks? This should have been a tsunami and all we got was a ripple in the pool.

I see this as a bad harbinger of things to come. The average American voter is lost to us and from now on it will be a real struggle to ever get back real control of either House or Senate and the WH.

I have lost my confidence that the voters will ever as a whole wise up. In short, we are doomed to failure from this point forward. Its only going to get worse.

Grim outlook, but thats how I see it.

Trump has been teasing a big announcement next Tuesday.

Will he announce his bid for the Presidency.? Like many of us, Trump was probably expecting a red wave last night.

I would vote for Desantis in a heartbeat, but recent polls have shown that Desantis doesn't come close to Trumps popularity percentage.
Maybe that could change with last night's win by Desantis, and change the dynamic over the next 2 years.? Maybe Desantis wont even run?

What candidate could the Republicans parade, that would energize the voter base, and give us a solid chance of winning the 2024 Presidential election?

I don't see anyone outside of Trump that could pull it off.

If Republicans were smart (Which they aren't) they would get Trump elected in 2024, and then get Desantis elected in 2028, and 2032. 12 years of control of the Whitehouse.
Long shot? Absolutely, but not impossible.

Republicans don't have what it takes to make that happen. Not when you have swamp rats like Mitch McConnell manipulating the outcome of candidates that he doesn't endorse. McCarthy isn't much better.

Hopeless? Maybe. We won’t know for sure unless we try a different approach. In my lifetime, I’ve seen a strong, persuasive, conservative leader with rock-solid values beat the leftists. Not one of his successors have even tried to replicate his approach. We can continue doing what we’ve been doing or try something different. Blaming people for not buying what you’re selling is a recipe for defeat. It‘s time to decide.

Trumps big mouth and emotional tirades are never going to win in 2024. Desantis is a clear leader who will win . I have many centrist largely non political friends who will never , ever , vote for the egomaniac jerk.
I will support whoever is not a democrat but I hope and pray it is not Trump !

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
