Politics

May be more to it than just Mitch. Many will say Trump pushed goofy mediocre candidates that the Left deemed ultra maga extreme.
Then the dems pulled a reverse Operation Chaos of Rush Limbaugh fame. They spent all kinds of money on those same candidates believing that they would lose if they made it to today.
Some of that may be playing out right now.
Weather issues in NV? Blowing sand? LOL
Snow, rain and wind.

Mitch pulled campaign funding away from Trump endorsed Senate candidates, and even spent it on their opponents just so Trumps guys would lose.
McConnell is a dirt bag.
Well, if so, he'll be the Senate "Minority" leader AGAIN. Guess he likes that position?

And Fetterneck wins in PA. As a Seattle Democrat once said after the dems lost a big election, "the voters are stupid".
Only thing he ever said that I agreed with.

Johnson isn't willing to claim victory yet in WI. Governor race looking to stay blue.
What a crappy thing to wake up to. Maybe I’ll just stay home from work today and drink. Nah, I think I’ll go hunting.

and Fetterman wins in PA??!!! I’m concerned for this country and my own sanity at this point. Reconsidering the alcohol vs hunting day. Good lord!

Scary. If there wasn't a red wave then one of two things happened and I've posted it before- either corrupt voting system or brain damaged, brain washed voters. Interesting that I didn't see Trump on a single ballot anywhere but all anyone on our side could talk about for the last two years of the run up to the midterms was Trump, Trump, Trump. Great thought processes at work, "I don't like Trump so I'll vote for Fetterman". Anyone who thinks that if DeSantis is the '24 nominee, all the DNC machine, all the RINOS, a corrupt DOJ and DHS, a corrupt and imbedded Deep State and all the MSM won't turn on him??? I've got my popcorn ready. The country gets what it votes for and deserves :)

Doesn't look like republicans will gain control of the Senate.

If anything, this election is a political barometer as to how much this country is sliding to the left.
Slowly, but surely, reaching a point of no return.

I wouldn't count out the Senate just yet. Lots of assumed GOP voted still uncounted in AZ, and a Georgia run-off appears to be on he horizon. A miracle may yet occur.

However, I do agree that these results to reflect an alarming slide to the left and possibly beyond the point of return.

I do not believe that those Trump-endorsed candidates who lost did so because of Trump's backing, or that they were weak candidates as McConnell so stupidly put it.. They lost because a lot of stupid, uninformed voters voted for the democrats.. Regardless, these seats needed to be filled by the new class of America-First agenda republicans and not more rubber stamp rhinos for McConnell. In my view, the election of another establishment republican would be just as useless and destructive as electing a democrat.

This election set national record turnout numbers across all voting blocks. The republicans who lost did so because the number of low information, low IQ, and blind party loyalists showed up in big numbers and voted democrat. The fact that every national poll taken in the last 20 months shows that the American people feel that this country is headed in the wrong direction by at least a 2/3rds margin and yet they STILL voted to elect the very people who caused and will perpetuate the misery is beyond comprehension.

This election emphatically proves that the often used political cliché that the American people are smart is completely false. Stupid Americans are now the majority, and there is no cure for stupid. Any Pennsylvanian, democrat, independent, or republican, who voted for Fetterman proves that! And, in Georgia, Kemp wins by 8 points, but Walker is in a dead heat with the false preacher who voted 100% for the Brandon agenda? Dear Georgia & Pennsylvania voters, WTF are you thinking? God help us all because we are obviously incapable of helping ourselves.

Thank God I live in Florida! Our idiot margins actually appear to be getting smaller..! My only concern is that now even more people will want to move here..:(

People laugh when Republicans like myself make statements of mysterious Democrat ballots showing up in the middle of the night.

Photo and video were taken in Detroit of ballots being unloaded hours after the polls had closed.

No doubt, just one of many instances.

Of course they will.. This is happening already.. Gavin Newsome ran a negative add campaign in Florida against DeSantis months ago... Every single Florida-based newspaper and media source regularly attacks DeSantis. He is now poised to assume Trump's role of #1 enemy of Democracy by every entity you listed.. They are in for a rude awakening... DeSantis has a talent for systematically destroying the media. It's really fun to watch!

As for Alaska... (my hopes and dreams for my part of the world)

Anybody at all but my area's rep, Bryce Edgmon: not gonna happen
Tshibaka (fingers crossed)
Begich (Peltola - heck no; Palin is a female Trump wannabe)
Dunleavy
And a big fat yes on Ballot Measure 1

Be interested to know what my Alaska brethren on here think...
The relatively huge Anchorage population drives the political demographics in AK- not Juneau. When I was there in August the stench of Soros' dark money was in the air particularly in the zone between the airport and midtown. That place has been called Seattle of the north for a long time now. AK was also one of the original destinations for medicinal pot- wink wink

I sure hope that the Dems and media hate for DeSantis keep many of the far left from moving here. Its interesting to see even Miami/Dade going red. Unfortunately the wave in the rest of the country doesn’t seem to be happening. I was sure hoping that this midterm would wake the left up to more central ideas. At least Pelosi can go away for good.

Please make sure to thank all those idiots who voted for higher gas prices, higher grocery prices, and for the oncoming blue recession. They deserve what's coming. Phucking phucks!:mad:

As I do not know very much about US-politics -I am from Germany-, I depend on European and US media- but this thread gives me interesting insights about the mindset of, as I think, rather conservative US-Citizens, many of whom seem to adore Mr.Trump. When I went to school in the 50ies and 60ies, the United States for me were an example of democratic structures and a stable political system.
Now when I follow the political discussions in this thread, and the aggressive, despicable way many speak about other Americans, who just happen to have another political agenda, I wonder what has become of my political model of many years....

The problem is that we need to figure out how to tap into as many of these low information voters as possible to win elections. I should add we already have our share. A read through the comments section of any conservative site this morning, and you will find it filled with Trump supporters reinforcing each other that this election was stolen. Pretty amazing conspiracy to leave no evidence trail and pull it off across multiple states simultaneously. But they would rather believe that than believe that a majority of Americans seem willing to put up with woke and inflation rather than the Trump led version of conservatism (notice I said nothing about the notion of America First - but rather Trump led.)

DeSantis proves that the brand, less Trump, is sellable across a wide swath of communities in a very large and diverse state. He won suburban women, Hispanics, panhandle Crackers, and new refugees from across blue America. He even had a meaningful chunk of black voters. A man who won with less than 1% of the vote against an African American drug addict four years ago, took Crist down by 20%.

Meanwhile, Brian Kemp represents the more moderate wing of our party. He too won in a large diverse state. I know it is easy to hate McConnell. But another way of looking at his lack of support for some of the Trump endorsed candidates is that his rather vast experience said it would be a waste of rare funds because they were unelectable. It is also worth remembering that our Supreme Court would look far different today without him.

As of this morning we would seem probably to be 49 49 in the senate with Nevada and Georgia still in play. Assuming Laxalt pulls this out (someone McConnell strongly supported and Trump seems to hate), control of the senate will again depend upon a Georgia runoff. It will be instructive to see if angry conspiratorial Trump followers will again screw that up.

Please say a little prayer for Oregon this morning.

We voted on the most restrictive gun control measure in the nation (measure 114). With 66% of the vote in, it looks like it could pass into law. If it does pass, it will hopefully be held up in the courts...

On the bright side, my wife did tell me that I really should go buy a couple of the guns I've been debating on buying before it's too late

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
