Politics

I’m curious - how many here vote with their $ interests in mind over the general good of the country? Lots of people I know here in Aus vote for whatever will help them make a buck.

I actually believe that if McConnell would of allowed the $2000 stimulus payment go to a vote in the Senate that Loffeler and Perdue would of had a lot better chance of getting elected. Most of Georgia voted for them but it was in the metro areas that they lost. But if you look at what they lost by it wouldn't of taken very much for them to of won., and in a lot of the rural areas money talks.

We in the rest of the West are watching what is happening in the US with a mixture of fascination and fear.

It appears that the last bastion of 'freedom of the individual' is crumbling

Someone earlier on this thread posted a 'leaving on a jet plane' video in jest

There is nowhere to go if the US's belief in 'the freedom of the individual' folds to the three pronged threat of collectivism - one from Corporate Globalism, one from Western borne socialism and one from the CCP

I'm not sure wether it would have caused a win but I was floored when I heard they were choosing that particular moment to have some fiscal responsibility. Absolutely mind blowing.

This is a 6 minute video of HR McMaster lecturing on confronting the Chinese Communist Party.

It is easy to get wrapped up in the concretes...which all of the "-isms" are. If an argument is going to be profitable for us, it needs to stick with the principles, the abstractions.

Ultimately, there are 2 forms of government: those with limits on their power; and those with no limits (or no practical limits) on their power (this I call "state-ism"). Communism/socialism is but one form of the latter. Throughout the Dark Ages and Middle Ages in Europe, they took the form of monarchies or monarchy/theocracy hybrids (thinking of 14th century France in this instance).

In concrete terms, there are republics, where power is widely distributed; and there are oligarchies, where power is concentrated. Some kings/theocrats/kommisars may act unilaterally, but most of them rely on some sort of council of advisors.

Not a small part of the issue in the United States is the swell of foreign-born citizens since 1970, most of whom believe they can just vote for a better form of a turd than the places they left. It is not dissimilar to the people leaving California and New York for Texas, and also think they can just vote for a better form of turd than the one they had before.

Politics is downstream of culture, and most culture is rotten. So most places end up with rotten, shitty, governments with no real limits on their power. That is where we are heading.

Condi would be great but she has said she's not interested.
I watched a documentary on the war in Iraq the other day, that showed footage of Ms. Rice parroting the lies about WMD's to justify the invasion of Iraq. Last thing the US needs is another unrepentant liar at the helm. Talk about a swamp rat.
I don't know much about him but that fellow from a Texas Dan Crenshaw seems like a straight shooter.

America, condensed to three sentences.

Many voters...

...if the citizens neglect their Duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; laws will be made, not for the public good so much as for selfish or local purposes; corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the Laws; the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men; and the rights of the citizen will be violated or disregarded.

There is a great Crusade in the works. That Crusade is to purge this nation of the Trump movement, and it's supporters.

Now that the Communists have control of all 3 branches, we will have very limited protection against the onslaught that is about to be unleashed.

The airline flight attendant union is demanding that Trump supporters not be allowed to fly.

The city of Detroit is seeking sanctions against Lawyers, Wood, and Powell, for challenging the results of the election.

This is just the tip of a giant iceberg. We are at a serious set of crossroads in this nation, and future complacency is not an option for Patriotic Republicans, or it's political leaders.

It will be interesting to see what may be declassified in the next 12 days.

Trump has the ability to toss a tremendous amount of kerosene on the fire. Possibly enough to abort a Biden Presidency, with Ukraine and China information. Certainly enough to prove he, family members, and members of his campaign were spied on prior to and after the 2016 election. This could very well destroy any prosecutions that may or may not be going on, but at this point the prosecutions may not be his priority.

the sad thing about that is that voting for liberty ultimately is about their $ interests.

it is, imo, the feminzation of politics. women tend to focus on the here and now, men tend to focus on long term. in the here and now, having the government dig into some other guy's wallet to give some of it to me sounds like a good plan. long term, of course, it is disastrous.

I read it years ago. Very good stuff.

I suspect “many” have been begging for a Hillary Clinton Presidency for the last 4 years.

Who are the "many" you refer to? Anyone who has been "begging" for a HRC presidency is part of the problem.

We need a real coach. One everyone wants to play for. Not just half the team. We are better than what has happened in the last 30 years.

In this statement you assume that we as Americans have all been part of the same team for the last 12 years? That's a tone-deaf assumption, and you have completely missed the entire concept of how Trump came to be the 45th POTUS to begin with. Obama's election was the official starting date of the division when this country endured 8 years of an agenda firmly rooted in identity politics, socialist policies, racial divisiveness, and contempt for American exceptionalism. Because of this, half of the citizenry of this country has absolutely no sense of shared purpose with the other half.

"Unity" at this point is a fantastical impossibility. The left uses the term "unity" as a tongue-in-cheek talking point at the same time they are busy making lists of the 74 million Trump sycophants they plan to extoll their revenge upon at their next earliest convenience. They want unity as much as the wolf wants to unite with the sheep.... To believe otherwise is grossly naïve.

I think, hope and believe that even if Trump is no longer in office he pursues his drain the swamp policies. With all the evidence he has, he can still, even as a private citizen, reveal all the corruption, wrongdoing and criminal activity of the commucrats. When brought to light it may have an effect on the direction the country will go in the future. Many politicians, bureaucrats and other sewer sludge will be arrested, resign, run and hide or wind up in prison. In any event, I look for major changes in govt.

I hope and wish you gents are right. However, the left is blind and they don't have scruples or moral values. Look at the Hunter Biden investigation, and Sleepy Joe's dealing with Ukraine, nothing happened from all that. The media didn't report it, and the left showed up by the millions to vote for Sleepy Joe & Chlamydia. Did they hate Trump so much that they were willing to hurt the country by voting for these two? The corruption and lack of moral values is going to be our downfall, just like Rome. I hope I'm very wrong, and I hope and pray to God that we can recover. I believe we are in an out of control spiral dive, and the little voice in the cockpit is saying, eject, eject, eject.

He only has until the 20th to release information that contains classified information. After that he can and probably would be prosecuted for it.

I do agree that Trump will be a thorn in the side of many people over the next few years.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
