You couldn’t possibly be more wrong. US politics is vitally important to African hunting. Americans make up the majority of visiting African hunters. US administrative action has stopped the import of elephant and almost, if not all, lion. Without US hunter support of these species, their value goes down and with it the conservation efforts on their behalf. I suspect that the current election results have significantly reduced our chances of getting science based decisions on these imports over the next four years.
If you’ve spent any time in Africa, you know that China is causing major problems politically, economically and from a conservation standpoint. We finally had a US President who was beginning to thwart China’s international activities. I for one had hoped to see this influence spill over in Africa. Obviously this will now stop.
As others have suggested, if you don’t like the thread, don’t read it. Oh, and lighten up a bit!
