I just hope my schedule doesn’t change.

You are using the argument that if lions didn’t have value the locals would kill them.

That has morning to do with cbl and the scenario on game ranches. The issue is not that we feel different , it’s that you are just talking about two different things. It will be hard to come to an understanding if that’s how people think it works.
We aren’t talking about two different things.

I think if you look at who likes your posts, and whose post you like, their are 3-4 people that always beat the same drum and never veer from their thoughts. It’s not a discussion, it’s an indoctrination.

I'm not sure I understand where you are taking this argument. Yes there is risk of taking a pride lion which would have negative affects on the pride. But that goes for all animals, is this any different to shooting a bull from a herd? It all loops around to ethical hunting practices that benefit the conservation of land and the future for that species. This is a non argument when comparing wild lions and CBL.
Hasn’t one of the main points been lions are different, and shouldn’t be compared to pheasants, kudu, or even buffalo?

Well we almost had a truce

Aĥ hell. We can keep this argument up for a few more pages. Let me start off with a few more hot button topics to get the blood flowing.
1. 404 Jeffery is no better than the 416 Rem Mag.
2. 458 Win Mag is an excellent DG cartridge.
3. Blaser R8 is an excellent hunting rifle.
4. Most people can't shoot big bore rifles or any double rifle as well as they can shoot a 375 or lesser bolt gun.
5. Most people have no business using a double rifle on their first DG hunt.

AND......GO!

I think you will find more who agree with this than the rest of the contents in this thread

Damn Toby458, you had to open up 5 more cans of worms!
On a serious note you just finished the book “ The Lions of Tsavo Exploring the Legacy of Africa’s Notorious Man - Eaters” it has quite a bit of information on lion biology, almost made me feel as if I was back in school. The book was written by Bruce D Patterson no relation to Colonel Patterson that killed the man-eaters.

Just so long as we all agree that the 7x57 is a stopping rifle!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
