Gun Control - The Debate, Argument Or Whatever ...

There is no humor in dead children. There is no humor in the shooting. The joke is the hypocrisy in blaming guns. The joke is the same people that support abortion (which is responsible for 3000 deaths a day) is saying that if we can save one child it is worth it. The joke is that we can't trust an 18 to year old to own a gun but we can give him a gun and tell him to go die with a gun fighting for a country that won't let him own one. The joke is that everyone says you have the police you don't need guns, when the police were hiding.

Don't think of it necessarily as humor but political satire at how we cannot come up with a rational solution to how to solve this mess and the hypocrisy of blaming guns for the tragedy. Just like how the kids of today are raised, there is no personal responsibility and there has to be something to blame for what went wrong.
The thread was started the week of the Parkland shooting and includes "jokes" about arming teachers and librarians...it is not funny...and it is not improved by relabeling it as political satire.

You are correct, teachers not being able to arm themselves is not funny. It is proven to leave them as sitting ducks to get slaughtered.

As I mentioned I lost friends in a school shooting this is very personal to me. One person who got shot during that shooting now's works for the Brady campaign, do you want to know what this "hero" did. He hide his 6 foot 2 frame under a desk. I refuse to think the best option we can give kids is to hide under a desk.

My takeway from this thread is not joking about dead students, the joke is the solution proposed. If you don't think the congressional solutions that are being proposed...raising the age to own a gun, blame the NRA, etc is not political then I don't know what to tell you. Honestly, any political statement from a reporter or politician over a shooting makes me sick. They dont care they want ratings. A meme pointing out the flawed logic or hypocrisy of such a statement doesn't.

Just curious. What are "antiquated rights"?

I appreciate a reasoned response.

In interest of full disclosure..my opinion is that the idea of arming teachers is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

No one wants to disarm you.
Foxi
(a fighter for legal weapons, but not for idiots and their kollegs)

That is where you are very, VERY wrong, my friend!!! Having dealt with the likes of Feinstein, Schumer, et al over the past several DECADES, I can and WILL tell you that they intend to disarm EVERY citizen of EVERY firearm........all you have to do is look at statements that they have made in the past. In there eyes, every scoped bolt action is a "sniper rifle" which no self respecting hunter would use, every handgun.....whether it be a 6" barreled .44 magnum, 1911 in .45 ACP, or .22 Hammerli single shot target pistol.....is a "Saturday night special" Shotguns are dangerous because the "spray" bullets.......I remember one stupid female politician pushing on a ban on .50 cal Barrnet rifles because they are "sniper rifles" and nobody should have one; when a reporter asked her if she felt that even .50 caliber MUZZLELOADERS should be banned, to which she replied "Yes, ALL .50 caliber rifles should be banned!" Now, I don't know about you, but I can see G dog and lil' Mack driving in the hood telling Ray-ray to put the top down soes they can gets out their ramrods to load dez "50 cals" soze they can doez their drive by. When the Tsarniov brothers pulled their terrorist bombing of the Boston Marathon a few years ago, one dumb ass politician went so far as to propose a ban on black powder, basically insinuating that reenactors and hunters could just "go find something else". Then it was found out that they got their black powder from FIREWORKS, and his idiotic ramblings stopped.
Shortly after the Sandy Hook shooting, then President Obama took the advantage of the situation (never let a good opportunity to go to waste) to push his gun control legislation; he promised three things in the rose garden that day: 1.) to introduce and increase gun control measures, including banning so called "assault weapons", 2.) to look at mental health treatment and accessability, and 3.) to look at violence in the media and video games. We all know he went after the first one with a rabid venegance! As far as mental health,......well, that's quite expensive, which is probably why it was left out of his "Obamacare" proposal which was shoved down our throats! As for violence in the media? Well, I don't see any decrease, and seeing as how most of the hypocrites in Hollywood (which condemn firearms and the 2nd amendment, yet glorify ALL types of violence in their films and TV shows) support Democrats and their agenda, it's not a surprise why that issue wasn't pushed......after all, why kill the goose that lays the golden egg?

I appreciate a reasoned response.

In interest of full disclosure..my opinion is that the idea of arming teachers is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

Since you made the statement, would you please state as to WHY you feel it's a bad idea?

I know that is what you stated and you have given sound logic for that reason. Any knowing some people that are teachers I am slightly unsure about it. But short of a fundamental change in society, I am not sure what the exact answer should be.

@Mr. 16 gauge I believe it came down to a teacher having to perform as a capable gun handler given the situation and with kids running around there is the high degree that a teacher could not accurately acquire and neutralize the target without accidently hurting a bystander. @Scott Slough please feel free to elobrate or correct me if I am incorrect.

Scott you are correct it is not funny it is serious.
But liberal answers are funny.
Liberals made this mess and with help from the media they put the blame every where but on them selves liberal policies created these soft targets then to go further they created a reward system that gave schools money to reduce crime what happens then to get the maximum amount of money the school stops seeing or reporting crime. That’s not bad enough when the crime is not reported it doesn’t make it into records that are checked when people buy guns. So what we have is a group of people who are blaming me and every other law abiding citizen in this country for the results of their own laws.
It took God Guns and guts to make this country
liberals have almost succeeded in removing God now they want to remove the guns.

You don't have to be an American to question the humor in dead children.

Absolutely, asking questions about humor, politics and religion is great and very much encouraged, even questioning beliefs and thoughts is what drives development and forward thinking.
To go into criticizing another person’s or country’s political views and standard is very different.
There are many laws and policies in the US that baffles people from the rest of the world, i.e drinking age vs voting age, 2nd amendment and the way you select presidents (one man -one vote is what usually works in democracies, not by electoral votes), tax systems etc. However those are things that the US citizens have to debate, decide and vote upon.

Again just a thought from a non USC that think that you guys need to handle your own country to the best of your ability.

And if they get the guns, they will have is gutted. Mission accomplished.

Time will tell, but we may be at an inflection point. There seems to be much more pushback on the liberal agenda than there has been in the past. People are tired of the name calling and forcing of ideas in the name of political correctness.

I’ll give another example of “good liberal policy” under the past Federal administration in order to make sure our children ate healthy during a federal inspection of our school cafeteria we were informed that we had to shutdown our free choice salad bar. Was it because of sanity conditions maybe it was temperature control or bad food handleing? No it was because at a salad bar you could not force a child to take food that they didn’t like. So all salads had to be prepared for them. Now what this did was make a lot of kids skip the salad all together or throw what they didn’t like away meaning that if it was thrown away they ate less.
For a group of people worried about hungry kids taking food out of their mouths was the answer.
Nothing on the bar was junk food vegetables fruit and chicken ham yogurt cottage cheese.
But again liberals want to do good it just never works out that way.
Sorry this was off topic.

@Foxi Perhaps we should leave the discussion about the US Gun laws to the citizens of the USA?

I doubt you would appreciate me proclaiming to be an expert in an unrelated subject started to criticize the politics and constitution of Germany.

Just a thought.

Gus,
what's going on in your country, occupies the whole western world.
What can be wrong with exchanging arguments?
There are many reasons to criticize German politics, which is not only reserved for the Germans, right?
Am I not allowed to feel pain when I think of shot children and the grief of their parents because they are Americans?
And if you think about the cause and its effects...............

I doubt anyone really cares about what is going on in my country, that is Sweden by the way, except the Swedes and the ones living in Sweden, but I may be wrong.

If you feel there are reasons to criticize German politics feel free to do so, I certainly won’t, that is up to you and your fellow countrymen.

Of course I am upset as well and sad about people that are being victims of any kind of crime, even more so when it happens to kids, regardless of where in the world it is. My response to you was not whether you are allowed to feel any pain and I’m pretty sure you know that.

So, let the US handle the US, you and yours to handle Germany. I think the opposite would not be a viable solution.

Edit: Arguments and questioning is great, criticism and name calling is not.

Shifting the blame to a gun for a shooting is just plain stupid. A gun only does what the person on the trigger makes it do.
Is it my forks fault that I weigh 300#?
No it’s what I choose to do with my fork.
Would that gun have killed anyone on its own?
No it would have just sit there collecting dust.
Even if it was loaded with a 30 round magazine had a bump stock. It took a person to make a decision for any harm to come to anyone.
Defective people are the problem not the gun the fact that we have created places where defective people can go and cause maximum damage with minimal risk is the fault of people who think that a law and circle with a cross hash over a gun will stop defective people.
No that just stops lawful people from causing any harm to the defective people who are shooting.
I would rather put my trust in a teacher/ custodian with training and a gun than to wait for a defective person to run out of ammo or God forbid targets.
The government failed us here this killer was reported to the government at least 41 times and nothing was done. Is that the AR’s fault this killer was in trouble many times and it didn’t get on his record for fear of loosing federal money. Was that the guns fault.
There is no perfect answer to this problem but let’s at least start looking at the thing that is causing this problem defective people.

Freedom of opinion is part of the free world, if you don't like it Gus, can't change it.
But you don't have to read me.
Good night.

Absolutely, freedom of opinion and speech is great and I support that all the way.
So, now when I have a different opinion than you about who should be talking about and criticizing the laws and even the society in a country where none of us have voting rights I should stop reading you?
That, makes no sense at all.
Anyone of a different opinion than you is wrong? Not much allowance of the free opinion or willingness to state arguments there.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
