Good Gun Deals This Week

Okay, for something quite different then, what are your thoughts about this one:

Ruger No1 in 270 Win, no rings or scope though, looks to be in great condition, for 600€
View attachment 457527

you can find it here, there are a few other No1's (a 300WinMag for 520€?) as well as quite a few lever guns on the page. I'm thinking of going to the store and having an inspection in person, to see what else is there. But if the resident experts here find no fault with this, I'm happy to pick up this Ruger No1.

thanks!

V.
I don't know what that price equates to in U.S. dollars but that is a lovely rifle. I own and use 5 of them so obviously I'm A fan. The prices over here have been steadily rising and always remember the just so so deal today will be a great deal in a couple of years. That one would be somewhere between 1300-1700 in USD as a reference point. That is a #1A which is a very fast handling rifle, the magnums are much heavier.

That’s a good deal at roughly $1,000 USD.

@WAB : Actually the 600 Euro for the 270Win (final discounted price) would equate to 660 USD

the 520 Euro for the .300 WinMag would equate to 572USD

so according to you and @Joker12 pretty good deals then...

@VertigoBE, if that No.1 was here in the US for that price, I'd be all over it. :) The rifle stock is beautiful too. You can get rings from Ruger or Alaskan Arms. (y)

Yeah I thought as much... I've been keeping my eye on those for some time now, and he recently did another -20% discount on the price. So I can't "not go out and get them". And you know, with my recent fatherhood, I need to find good rifles for my little girl. :E Rofl: That .270 might be just the ticket.

It will not be a complicated affair to add rings and a scope on the quarter rib I trust?
Anything specific to Ruger No1's I should look out for when inspecting them?

I would look for the obvious wear and tear, but I'd let the No.1 experts chime in.

Btw, if there are any lever action experts on AH, and you see any in the link that are worthy of an extra look, please let me know. I've always wanted a lever action, and the discounts I see there are pretty nice. 30-30 perhaps? There was also a .375 Win bigbore???

Oops, I thought it was in the UK. I used the pounds sterling conversion. At 660 USD it’s not a good price, it’s highway robbery.

Sweet Mary! Just about everything on that list is a bargain compared to pricing here.

Far from a lever gun expert but if a .22 is of interest in that type action, plenty of good ones to choose from. The second Marlin 39M or the Winchester 9422 Legacy would both be tough ones to walk away from.

Well, I'll be passing by that store (its a 1hr drive from here) tomorrow afternoon. For the lever actions I'm mainly interested in the 30-30's, (I already have a .22 bolt action), so if anyone can point me to a good one, I might consider it.

I'm leaning towards the Marlin 336c in 30-30 for 650€ (715USD)

Or the winchester 94 XTR in 30-30 for 480€ (528USD)

I'm partial to the Marlin 336. I started hunting with one in 35Rem when I was 12. Killed my first several whitetail with that gun.

IMO, that particular 336 would be the last one I'd choose from those available. The older JM stamped Marlins are well regarded here. Newer manufacture Marlins, particularly those made in the early years after the Remington buy-out, not so much.

The 336T would be my first choice if I was buying sight un-seen.

Lately you dont see that many on this side of the pond either. They started making 458 lott ruger #1's around 2002. Did not make that many as far as i know. I have to look it up as to when they stopped making them.

I've been wondering what the next No. 1s are going to be chambered in? Only available through the specialty dealers? Never see anything published over here (OZ)

Thanks @Mark Ret why would you choose the 336T over the others? What attracts you in it?
It is only 320€ or 360USD , so better for my wallet in any case :)

I would sell you mine (94 Ranger with angle eject for scope), but you are in Belgium. It’s a great LE. I bought it (from my father) when I was 12. I just don’t use it anymore.

Of the two for certain JM Marlins, the condition of the one listed as a 336T (I believe they're actually both "T"s ?) looks slightly better and it still has it's front sight hood. Admittedly, there's only a single pic of each to judge and I'm looking at them on a phone so I could easily be wrong.

The newer ones just don't do it for me. The checkering looks out of place to my eyes, the build quality is not near as good and I dislike the cross-bolt safeties.

Whichever you choose, hope you enjoy having a true piece of Americana.... The 30-30 levergun.
