I have called in a couple Bobcat in the last 3 years. Mountain Lion is still on the list. Not many in this area so it may take some time to do that. Where are you thinking for the Lynx?
l would contact some of the predator calling outfitters in Texas or Kansas for the Bobcat
Agree with that. It was at the Oklahoma Panhandle State shooting complex. Add in the wind and it was anything but your average coarse. Lots of room for long range shots which many courses just don’t have room for.
Had this happen to me yesterday. Went to a new coarse, thrower was roughly 35 yds to the left at about a 45 degree angle. Clay went high and fast to the right crossing at a 45 degree angle away. Clay was at 45 yards before l could get on it and fast. 4 tries and never touched it. Kept increasing...
I use Walker game ears all the time. The enhanced hearing helps to pick up the softest noise, but the loud canceling blocks out the report of the gun. Really like them hunting upland bird hunting. Can hear the dogs running in the grass when you can’t see them. Also when big game hunting, can...
I shot a sleeping Elephant! There must be a country song in there somewhere
Joking aside! Congratulations on a great hunt. Thanks for posting and taking us along
Unless you’re using them on a rifle to shoot past 300-400 yards it’s a waste of time. Especially shooting at big game where you have at least a 8”x8” target to hit.
It wasn’t that long along that Weatherby lead the industry with a guaranteed 1 1/2” group at 100 yards. And folks were shooting...
If you still have some loads , pull the bullet and weigh the powder
Lyman lists 74 gr max, 225 bullet
Hornady lists 72.8 max
l have owned 4 different 338’s. My loads were all between 66 and 69 grains. Different for each rifle. All with 225 grain bullets. Either a 225 Hornady or a Barnes
C&H was from my home town. Owen Wisconsin. That shop is closed. They produced all calibers
The one in OH may have bought them out, not sure about that.
Wow what a hunt! Congratulations Scott and Jim. Even though you hunt a lot, l doubt you forget this one anytime soon!! Cool your wives got to experience it also.
That Lion is awesome!
Had a 264 back in the 80’s. Can’t find the load data. But the only powder l used then was either IMR 4350 or 4831. Bullets 125 partitions. Took it elk hunting once so loaded 140 partitions. Both worked well. Really liked the cartridge.
If you want to go Lion hunting in Colorado, one might get to it. This will more than likely pass. Just like the Wolf vote.
There is a plus side to the Wolf reintroduction. The wolves are already here, and not total being managed. When they reintroduce them, Parks and Wildlife will have to manage...
Nothing against the 300 PRC. But on big game to 600 yards it doesn’t do anything a 300 Weatherby hasn’t done for a long time now. For elk and moose to 600 yards l would go with the .340 Weatherby. Awesome cartridge
Looks A Lot like the one l had. It had double set trigger. Great if you use the set trigger. Terrible without it. Never could get it adjusted any better. Shot great though, very accurate
I have used several in mine. 117 Sierra, 117 Hornady, 115 Berger. I settled on the 100 TTSX and 120 Northfork for big game. Got sub-moa accuracy with all. The Berger was used for target shooting out too 1000 yards
