Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

I have refrained from posting in this thread, because I really want to put 4 down...but I will play by the rules:

.375 H&H
.300 H&H
.22 Hornet

Honorable mention to the .308 Winchester.

Is that cheating?? :D

Yes thats cheating! Welcome to the club. ;)

my current favorites:

7.62x39 (my CZ 527 is a dream to hike around with)
7x57 (effective and has some neat history)
375 H&H (haven't hunted with it yet but I already love the cartridge!)

-matt

338 Win Mag-225-250gr TSX -everything in North America
375 HH-350gr Woodleighs or North Forks-everything in Africa
and a shotgun for everything else

260 Remington
300 Win Mag
338 Lapua

All three are great and have served me very well.

257 Weatherby
30-06
338 Win Mag
375 Weatherby
404 jeffery

300 Win Mag
375 H&H
.404 Jeffery

Nothing I can't shoot with that trio.

270 Win
375 Weatherby
500 Jeffery

If I had to go to one rifle it would be the 500 Jeffery, just need to get a bit closer (under 300 yards) for elk ...

:)

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Only three?
That really freaks me out man, but I will behave and comply......this time.
My attention span is about equal to a child aged only that many years.
Therefore, I have no "all-time' favorites, only whatever I'm using or contemplating using on a trip or, even just to the rifle range.
(I have issues).

At any rate, these following calibers are my 3 favorites, at the moment.

.300 H&H
.375 H&H
.458 Lott

Los Mausers Modelo 98s, por favor.

Out,
Velo Dog.

If I was to be very boring, I could say that you only need 3 rifle cartridges in your gun safe :)

6.5x55
9.3x62
.500 NE

Oh noes, no US cartridges in my list ;)

I can add the 22lr for some small critters and plinking then :)

Then you are set for anything.

3 ONLY !

Someone needs to start a new thread; "what are your favorite dozen hunting cartridges" !

Sorry for the interruption,

as you were.

405 Winchester in a Win 1895 lever action with open sights is a nice choice for North American black timber

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
