You want to buy something special, you want to treat yourself, what rifle do you buy?

Just hit a major life milestone: total debt eradication.

To celebrate, I bought a Heym in 470NE and 375HH from a member.

I think pictures are in order!

How practical is it to have the 20 ga. barrel? I'd think the balance would be off.

Oh it would be awful compared to a dedicated 20 bore shotgun. But this was in a context of unlimited funds, and they would make excellent practice barrels for double rifle shooting on the cheap.

Plus, taking those three barrels to Africa would be much easier for just an afternoon of francolin or Guinea fowl hunting, instead of two carbines and a separate shotgun.

I honestly have what I need plus a few I just enjoy. So for me I'd upgrade something I already own. My Ruger African M77 in 375 Ruger is a great practical rifle with a laminate stock and Leupold VX2 1-4X,which done it's job admirably. But high grade walnut stock and a Leupold VX6 1-6X would be a nice improvement.

A Ruger No. 1 with a spectacular stock in one of the 7mm cartridges (7mm RM, 280 Rem., 280 AI).

Mausers, especially Swedish versions.

I recently purchased a 75th Anniversary Ruger 10/22 with the maple stock. Not expensive, but it made me feel good because of memories of childhood experiences with 10/22s and it goes with the other ones I own. I have the same nostalgia for M77s, M70s, and Rem 700s so I have a few of each of those as well and am always tempted (and often succumb) when I find one.

I have a similar affinity for Beretta M9s and 1911s becaused I carried those in the armed forces for many years. Thus I'm always on the lookout for good exemplars of both.

I already did with a Blaser R8 and five barrels… so far. But if I could add a special rifle it would be a Blaser K95 with 6..5x55 and .300Win mag barrels.
@meigsbucks
To me it would be a K95 in 25-06 and another barrel in 35 Whelen.
Would you expect anything different.
Failing that a nice bespoke bit of walnut on a Browning 85 hiwall copy in the same calibres.
Interrupted thread barrels for easy changing.

I've been thinking lately to treat my self with a colt 1911, 45 acp, single stack, classic. Nickle plated.
@mark-hunter
Top choice but to the full hog.
Gold inlayed engraving and pearl handle or African Ebony grips. Full accurised with competition barrel, close tolerance slide and finger barrel bushing.
If you are going for a nice 1911 may as well make it accurate to start with. You could always start with a nice Wilson combat or Springfield competition 45.
I do love the 1911 and the browning Hipower.

Several years back, my dad had abruptly retired from the company he pioneered. I was left, along with my brother, to run the business.

I pushed hard to grow and take risks that offered rewards. The day I signed the contract for the biggest job our company had ever done is the same day I purchased this rifle.

@John the Electrician
Now all you need us a nice Cooper 52 in 25-06 to go with it
Bob

Money no object : a Westley Richard’s droplock in .500NE, with additional 450/400 barrels and 20bore barrels.

More realistic, a Heym 89b .500 NE
@VertigoBE
For me more realistic was a nice Savage 110 Varmit in 25-06 that was for sale for $400 AUD.
Unfortunately already have a fast 25 or it would be in my safe now.
I know in a tight arse cheapskate.

Just call Mark Bansner (Bansner's Ultimate Rifles, LLC) and order WTF you want! CRF DG? NP! 1,000+ yd (or 0 bloodtrail length) NA gun? NP! But when you do, please ask him to get me mine back (re-barreled after 3,000 hot rounds down the pipe on many continents. Group size increased to 1"+ no bueno from 5 shots touching.) Picked up a 6.5-300 Wby as Plan B for this deer season afield...Adopting from some other guy, I do NOT find inaccurate guns interesting! Akin to a trophy wife...'Designed a cartridge and ordered 1 gun from Mark nearly 20 yrs ago (the purpose of which was to do just about everything, everywhere-and it did. A lightweight, long-shooting, all-weather hard-hitting weapon. Could even brain DG w/ it using solids, but I have other guns for that.) Pic is the Wby with proper ammo, optics, mounts and trigger (in the wind atop a mountain recently w/ the sun in my face at day's end. It can do better.)

The K95 is but a dream.

The beauty of dreams is the cost nothing until you try and convert then into reality.
I dream of being good looking but even Elon Musk hasn't got enough money to make that a reality for me.

you know @BeeMaa is in love with Barbie.
He gets great pleasure out of rubbing oil into her bits while enjoying fine liquor.
We each have our likes but Barbie at his age the mind boggles.

'released Barbie with a dishonorable discharge back in '00. LOL "Let the Safaris Begin!" was my first quote...

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
