You want to buy something special, you want to treat yourself, what rifle do you buy?

My latest purchase is ready.. will get it for Christmas. And yes, it's a Blaser again.
So my choice was the R8 pro in black /orange in 404Jeffery,
with a red dot sight and some charging equipment. Exciting times ahead.
Is that coming with a Blaser made 404J barrel or are you having it made aftermarket?

it's aftermarket.. Blaser initially said ok to make one for me, but then there was a counter notification that there were some new rules regarding testing and quality assurance in Germany. If I remember correctly, there was something around the bolt head that had to get in place first.

I did tha last year. A Mauser 98 Manum expert in 450 Rigby. I am very happy with that.

Did you have to import it or was it already at a retailer?

I’ve been told to expect a 12mo wait once order has been placed for a Mauser M98 to arrive in Canada.

@Northern Shooter
He has a Diplomat in stock.

I always thought a 404J in the semi-weight (19mm) barrel would be a great addition to the Blaser catalog. Also having the 416RM available in the lighter profile would be nice.

I’d either get a double, most likely a Kreighoff, Verney Carron or Chapuis, in 470 NE; or very nice single shot, probably a Dakota model 10, in 7x57 Rigby.

The only other one I’d add would be a custom built pre-64 in .270 Winchester. I love hunting with a 270 and don’t have one in a pre-64.

Sharp1,
Yeah, you're right about the No.1's, they are great. I've got 2 others (besides the RSI), so think I'm pretty well set for them, unless...

Thought about trying to hunt down a Browning FN Mauser action and doing something with that, maybe a 300 H&H with a really nice piece of timber on it...

Still thinking about the 1895 Brownchester wildcats...

I haven't thought of the 88 before, but now that I am thinking about it...hmmm

Sure would like a Farquharson style 22LR...

Maybe a '71 or 1873 Winchester or copy....

I need some serious help.

I'd find a deal on another Griffin & Howe

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
