Politics

You said you thought we need to play their game to win…. we’ll that is their game!

Praise and apologize all you want. Fight fire with fire and maybe next time they will be more cautious. Politics now is not a nice game. I was watching a talking head idiot on TV yesterday or the day before praising Pelosi for being a great leader of the Democrat party. So parrot the narrative I guess.

Here's one image I like of the "respectful" Speaker of the House that deserves to be shown and remembered.

One could give the same compliment to Hitler and Stalin.
How so? She was elected to the House - repeatedly - by her constituents. She was elected to leadership positions by her peers. She successfully drove through legislation that her party and her constituents championed. The sooner we quit bitching and calling the other side names, and start figuring out how to win elections, the better off we'll be. I only hope Kevin McCarthy is half as successful.

Who is apologizing? But we are foolish if we do not "appreciate" how successful she was - at our side's expense. I absolutely agree that we need to play hardball by the same rules. And if we have any sense at all, we better go to school on how their caucus, under her leadership, got things done with such a slim majority over the last two years. I frankly have far less confidence in McCarthy.

Okay, but how are you measuring "success"? The Kevin McCarthy's of the republican party are part of the problem... I wouldn't go as far as to label him a rhino, but he is definitely more establishment than America-first.. With him as speaker, the best we can hope for is to stop or at least slow the bleeding. Something is better than nothing, but with him at the helm, it's going to be more of the same swampy deals with the devil.. Sorry, but he is not the guy who will unite or redefine the republican party into what it truly needs to be to successfully quell the left's agenda.

In Defeat: Defiance
In Victory: Magnanimity
In Peace: Good Will

I think you and @Red Leg are more in agreement than disagreement...

I think Nancy Pelosi is a horrid human being.. I wouldn't piss on her if she were on fire...

That said.. there is no avoiding the fact that she has been incredibly successful in terms of her career in politics..

That doesn't mean I like a single thing she has ever done, anything she stands for, anything she believes in, etc..

But there is no denying that despite a significant number of Americans feeling the same way about her as I do.. that she has managed to stay in office for more 35 years (something few others accomplish.. although I detest the concept of career politicians).. has been elected by her peers to lead them not once, but twice as speaker of the house.. was the first woman ever to be the house minority whip.. the first woman ever to be the democrats house minority leader.. etc..etc.. and no denying that somehow, despite how stupid and inane we might think it is.. she can get in front of the free world and say completely ridiculous shit like "we have to pass the bill so people can find out whats in it".. and still get her party to rally behind her and vote for legislation that she supports..

I don't have to like someone to recognize their success and/or talent.. I also think Michael Jackson was a screwed up soul.. and I was never a fan of his music.. but.. like Nancy, there is no denying a large sum of the worlds population valued him.. he wasn't crowned "the king of pop" for no reason...

I agree with you on McCarthy.. he is in my view just another establishment, career politician who will lean whichever way the wind blows in order to preserve his position.. I am not in any way excited about the concept of him becoming the next speaker..

There is a lot to learn from Pelosi... that doesn't mean people like me should adopt her values, morals, or ethics... I abhor everything princess nancy represents.. but.. if the red side of the table doesn't figure out a new strategy for countering the new set of rules (or lack thereof) that the blue side has decided to start playing by... we can all expect to suffer the consequences of continued assclownery in DC..

Agreed, but I wasn't making any commentary on Pelosi one way or the other..

My post was referencing my doubt about McCarthy's ability to accomplish what needs to be done for the republicans. The fact that his (and McConnell's') leadership is being challenged at all should be a wake-up call and a reckoning on the party's failures and shortcomings. Unfortunately, it's not being received that way.

Completely agree..

I care less for McConnell than I do for MCCarthy…

Dismal shape the party is in for sure

I'm shocked and surprised: another investigation started against Trump, this time by Garland. How many does this make? How many debunked (just about ALL) same old same old.

The DemonRats are suffering from terminal Trump Derangement Syndrome. The most recent symptom is this:
A significant number of pollsters claim that the 2024 presidential election is claimable by the Republicans IF the candidate is ANYONE but Donald Trump. The reasoning is that a significant portion of the Republican constituent is pro-Trump but it is matched by the Anti-Trump sector. So if Trump won the nomination, the theory goes that only half of the Republicans would vote for him, giving the election to the DemonRats.
If the DemonRats were thinking and they were to review this conclusion, they would be best served by doing what they could to get Donald Trump nominated- BUT NO, they are so obsessed with trying to humiliate him that they are doing what they can to prevent his candidacy.
If the DemonRats were to prevent Donald Trump from obtaining the nomination, the Republicans would run one of the other several candidates who would win the presidency by a landslide.
So, the conclusion that the DemonRats suffer from terminal TDS.

suppose Trump churns up his base only to turn it over to DeSantis to add his base and voila--successful election...not sure if all the Trump base will get energized any other way? Of course, stuffing either one down the throats of the libtards would be pure bliss.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
