Okay, but how are you measuring "success"? The Kevin McCarthy's of the republican party are part of the problem... I wouldn't go as far as to label him a rhino, but he is definitely more establishment than America-first.. With him as speaker, the best we can hope for is to stop or at least slow the bleeding. Something is better than nothing, but with him at the helm, it's going to be more of the same swampy deals with the devil.. Sorry, but he is not the guy who will unite or redefine the republican party into what it truly needs to be to successfully quell the left's agenda.
I think you and
@Red Leg are more in agreement than disagreement...
I think Nancy Pelosi is a horrid human being.. I wouldn't piss on her if she were on fire...
That said.. there is no avoiding the fact that she has been incredibly successful in terms of her career in politics..
That doesn't mean I like a single thing she has ever done, anything she stands for, anything she believes in, etc..
But there is no denying that despite a significant number of Americans feeling the same way about her as I do.. that she has managed to stay in office for more 35 years (something few others accomplish.. although I detest the concept of career politicians).. has been elected by her peers to lead them not once, but twice as speaker of the house.. was the first woman ever to be the house minority whip.. the first woman ever to be the democrats house minority leader.. etc..etc.. and no denying that somehow, despite how stupid and inane we might think it is.. she can get in front of the free world and say completely ridiculous shit like "we have to pass the bill so people can find out whats in it".. and still get her party to rally behind her and vote for legislation that she supports..
I don't have to like someone to recognize their success and/or talent.. I also think Michael Jackson was a screwed up soul.. and I was never a fan of his music.. but.. like Nancy, there is no denying a large sum of the worlds population valued him.. he wasn't crowned "the king of pop" for no reason...
I agree with you on McCarthy.. he is in my view just another establishment, career politician who will lean whichever way the wind blows in order to preserve his position.. I am not in any way excited about the concept of him becoming the next speaker..
There is a lot to learn from Pelosi... that doesn't mean people like me should adopt her values, morals, or ethics... I abhor everything princess nancy represents.. but.. if the red side of the table doesn't figure out a new strategy for countering the new set of rules (or lack thereof) that the blue side has decided to start playing by... we can all expect to suffer the consequences of continued assclownery in DC..
