Thanks to Jimmy Carter, interest rate on my first house mortgage was 17.5% back in 1981!!

While that was super high, imo, the cost of capital should be a real thing in a healthy economy.

We got hooked on the super low interest rates for too long.

All dependent, where you went to school, class rank, Order of the Coif, Law Review, Phi Delta Phi, Clerkship, etc.
Actually, it only depends on one's graduating year including raises. Firms set the starting salary for a graduating class not individuals. Now, getting offers depends on the other factors.

Also, most law students get 8 to 12 week summer associate jobs (at same salary as a first-year associate) between law school years, most if not all turn to job offers later on.

And yes, someone graduating from a lawyer factory that is barely accredited is going to be your public defender or local DA not an associate at a white-shoe firm.

Frankly, we have too many lawyers and not enough Physicians. And it shows up in earnings. But that’s another story, with different economic factors.
I have several friends that are physicians, they will not recommend becoming a physician to their kids. Heck, originally my daughter was divided between becoming a doctor or a lawyer. We looked at pros and cons and earnings potential and she chose becoming a lawyer. She used to tutor kids in Calculus at 11th grade, so could have become a doctor as well.

BTW, average workweek in her specialty is about 70 hours a week. So, while they make plenty of money starting out, they also work for it.

This is a good point most young people don't get.

In my post military career I've done legit 70-80 hr weeks. Up to 100 sequential days without time off. It can be brutal but sometimes that's what it takes in highly paid positions.

Vp and up in a fortune 500 company, especially in manufacturing, and you are never really off work.

Not for everyone

The "October Surprise" is starting early. The Biden administration scores a big win with the prisoner swap with Russia. I'm sure we will be told that Kamala played a critical role.

Oil prices are predicted to drop and we will likely see the Fed cut interest rates in September. A string of good news reports will help KH and not help Trump.

Trump better find some better talking points than race.

Yeah, my son-in-law originally chose the business financing side of law as he did not want to keep those kind of hours. He was interfacing with bankers, so bankers hours for the most part. Then, he made a lateral move to a hedge fund and became an investment banker, again business hours except for the international business hours at times.

How is this vile?
Like fauxcahontus Liz Warren, she plays the racial identity game to get her way in politics. But if someone calls her out on it or questions it you find it vile?
Quite a bit of a difference than Liz Warren. Harris went to Howard University which is a black college, was a member of a black sorority and was a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. Her stating her race as Black is not something new.

This type of rhetoric just turns off the voters Trump needs to win over. Not to mention giving more ammunition to the other side.

It also kills the news cycle for a period of time where people are talking about Trump's race attacks instead of Kamala's record.

Eventually, the Harris campaign will run out the clock and Trump will lose again.

I'm inline with you on it being a turf that turns off people but it seems to me party A plays race-baiting politics and it's fine. Party B questions it and suddenly it's vile?
What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Unless you're white it seems.

Trump would be better off getting away from this crap but I'm not sure he's capable.

Still... there it is. She is on record marketing herself as Indian, SE Asian, etc. Then very suddenly... the focus on being black.

First Indian Senator in history

first candidate of South Asian descent

Gushing over being Indian

She is biracial. She can be the first Indian senator but she was not the first black senator. Therefore, it is very understandable that she would talk about different parts of heritage when they are applicable.

As the great 20th century philosopher Elton John said, "Whatever gets you through the night, is all right".

Everything she has said is true though. She is of Indian descent and also black. Mixed race is just that. She doesn't have to choose one side of her heritage vs the other.

See even here we are discussing Trump's comments and people's reaction to it instead of her record.

One question for Trump apologists:
How does attacking Harris racial identity help Trump? Does it help Trump with black voters or does it make them go to the polls and vote for Harris?

And the Evil Republicans Pounce!

oh FFS. This is like when my kids were 4 and I told them not to throw the ball in the house and they said "I didn't throw it, I tossed it."

If we're playing like this, I'll say that Trump had genuinely never heard of her claiming to be black. He had only heard of her being Indian so really, it was truly an innocent question.
Give me a break

The concept of being biracial is hardly a new invention, and I highly doubt there is anyone, Trump included, who thought Harris was completely Indian.

lol, if Trump was not aware of her accusing Biden over bussing during the 2020 primaries, or her being part of the Congressional Black Caucus then Trump needs to fire all his advisors or quit the race for being so clueless.

And yet, you don't apply that same level of skepticism to her. That's the problem.

About her race? No, I am not skeptical of that. About her policies (which is all that matters)? Yes, I would say that I remain highly skeptical.

Edit: I will say, in fairness, you are probably right that I am more critical of Trump. That is for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that he was already president.

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
