Politics

As I would love to continue to discuss politics with everyone the chairman of the board has given a very reasonable warning about not being disrespectful…was not my intention…poor American to euro humor and thin skin I guess. Back to retirement, good luck to you all in you future endeavors!
I, for one, am quite enjoying this conversation.

I love your quote “ providing for themselves as much of there defense as they can”

Your are proving my point, without USA military Europe doesn’t exist. It would rapidly be divided between Russian and China.

Europe has become like a welfare recipient of the very generous USA.

And we as USA citizens reap absolutely nothing in return except pompous attitude and the dreaded Oliver saying “sir, can I please have some more”

Let Europe live or die on its own merits, money, and military. No more us aid, no more us military youth getting killed for countries who refuse to take care of themselves. Gone this idea a try for maybe 4 years…..Europe citizens would be building boats to flee across the pond just saying. Not to many USA citizens fleeing to Europe geesh

I hope you don’t really believe this. If Europe dies economically we are in the worst economic downturn in our history. This rhetoric sounds great but doesn’t actually work.

Unfortunately, a lot of the MAGA base as well as the politicians (House Chaos Caucus) believe this including, the nepo baby Gaetz.

Sounds like we could all use a diversion of thought--here's one for you. Around 1936 the right wingers in Spain felt they had been cheated out of an election. Already unhappy and feeling disenfranchised they reacted violently to an incident in which three of their political leaders were supposedly killed by police. Unbeknownst to them the police were not involved--leftists posing as police were intentionally inciting them. They took the bait and a civil war ensued. Neighborhoods armed themselves, etc. The rest is in the history books.
Fast forward to 2020. An election was stolen, Jan 6 sentiments were equal if not harsher than those motivating the Antifa led riots. WHAT IF it is all as manipulated as the 1936 Spanish civil war. Could we believe that the left is being manipulated by socialists while the right is being inflamed by manipulated events? What might have transpired if Trump had been assassinated? Our own civil war, perhaps? Who would benefit from that the most? Suppose Russia/China/North Korea/Iran wanted to attack us--would there ever be a better time than during a US civil war? Not only weakened, but if attacked from without, confused about where the attack came from and reacting as if it were from fellow citizens?

Highly doubt North Korea or Iran has the capability to militarily take over the U.S. even after a civil war started. The U.S. populous still has more people and guns. Not to mention our technological, naval, and aerospace superiority, I will grant you China, maybe.

I believe the sentiment of nationalism is swinging too far. It does have a good argument about focusing more on tax paying citizens, rather than alliances from
WW2. In the past 3 decades (my time on the Earth) we have paid for the majority of allies. Financially that is a mistake. The U.S. can’t simply bow out of global affairs. There must be a renegotiation of our agreements. Also, entitlements need to be systematically restricted, then abolished domestically.

At my age, I would eagerly sacrifice all of the money taken from me for social security and Medicare in order to invest as I see fit. These welfare programs are simply another tax. Everyone would have benefited more taking that same amount of money and investing in the S&P over the last 20 years.

Trump’s comment on Kamala’s race was really stupid. Going down that path will cost him votes. Focus should be on her track record, which is less than impressive and out of touch with reality.

Yep.

I don’t know why he does this sort of stuff. He keeps this up then he will lose in a landslide and bring the Congress down with him. I shudder when I think of President Harris with a Democrat majority in the House and the Senate.

If he makes this election about race and gender, he will lose.

I think I am glad I missed all this “dialogue” today. I am rather curious what European Governments we are “funding” since the Marshal Plan concluded. I will agree, because it is in our national interests, we have provided some additional support to Ukraine.

I concur--moments of my life I can't get back.

Back in 2001, George W. Bush created a 16-member bipartisan commission to study the feasibility of “modernizing” a Social Security system that had remained essentially unchanged since a New Deal Congress created the program in 1935.

Democrats balked at Bush’s proposal to give younger workers the option to invest Social Security funds “in a conservative mix of bond and stock accounts,” aimed at generating higher returns than the rates offered by the federally managed system.

Congress spurned the commission’s recommendations. Upon his re-election in 2004, he tried a second time and Congress shot it down again. Too bad, I thought this an excellent plan.

To some it seems like we find them ALL 100% of them.

And here I was always told by the media, teachers, and entertainers (obviously moral superiors) that he was the dumbest person to hold the office of POTUS.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend......We are obliged to fight amongst ourselves, but when you choose to join uninvited we will oblige ourselves to join together to defeat you.

Russia and China would want to occupy North America thus the threat of a nuclear strike from either is less likely for many reasons.

Then and now, probably more so now with all the technology advances, the biggest deterrent to a Russian or Chinese invasion is not so much the Amerixan military, but the well armed don't give a shit Billy Bob, Bubba, etc.backwoods, hillbillies, that often like to shoot any stranger first before asking any questions.

The biggest threat of a nuclear bomb being set off in the US would be from Iran or other anti American terrorist group and North Korea. Their mentality is to prove to the rest of the world how powerful they are. The aftermath of such an attack would be total unhinged American anger focused solely on the total enilation/ genocide of the country responsible.

When America's 2nd Civil War breaks out it will be genocidal. Pretty much white and black will start enilating All You Others, once the AYO's are totally eliminated, It'll be pick your side with the side going into battle firstest with the mostest, wins.
AYO's:
Politicians, former and present
Large, mega money Corporate leaders,
Anti's: hunting, guns, etc.
Animal Rights/ Greenies/ etc.
Illegal immigrants, you look "Hispanic" ancestry, you look Mid Eastern ancestry
Etc
Etc
