You mock, but it is a fascinating place.

I visited in 2019. You get only an hour or so in the hot zone and a whole lot of disclaimers to sign, but it's an interesting and eerie experience. One that makes you think too. A monument to both the technology of the cold war, the hubris of the leaders (on both sides honestly) and the poor ordinary folks who live with the consequences.

Slightly more radiation over the visit than a typical x ray, but nothing awful, although I'd absolutely not live there longer term.

I should also recommend the Sky miniseries 'Chernobyl'. A good little primer into the events that happened which whilst carrying a degree of bias is still tastefully and sympathetically done.

No offense but I think I will skip that trip.

I think it was mounted cops not RCMP.

My cousin is Peel Regional, my uncle retired Windsor and RCMP. No way they would participate in this crap. The vast majority of cops are great guys who take their duty to the public seriously. Where are they finding these goons?

Is it true that these guys in Ottawa with black helmets molesting the truckers and their supporters are not Canadian troops? I have seen speculation that they are UN shock/riot troops and many of them do not speak English nor French?

They are Canadian I am sure. UN couldn't get its act together to decide on lunch let alone deploy troops to another country on a short notice.

Not to mention if that were the case the current government would be finished.

I hope you are right. I know the information shown on Canadian mainstream mass media is heavily redacted and distorted. I was hoping that a member with real life experience in policing can freely comment on what it’s happening in Ottawa at the moment.

Oh good Lord. They no doubt were staged from an abandoned warehouse and deployed from black helicopters.

Seriously though - I am trying to imagine what a UN "shock troop" would look like and who would have trained him.

You have to start avoiding some of those sites.

I do not know a lot about policing, but I know a lot about the UN and the diplomatic hoops necessary for force deployment. Just look at the video you posted. A video of aircraft on a runway (where else would they be?) interspersed with photos of cops in riot gear. Then some unidentified voice claims this proves the UN has deployed forces in Canada. Not to put too fine a point on it, but that is so ridiculous it boggles my mind someone would believe it.

What's amazing is the number of people that believe this sort of stuff. UN as an organization is a dysfunctional body, can not do anything without a majority of the Security council authorizing it.

Canada under the emergency decree can deploy its own troops, it doesn't need foreigners to clamp down on its own citizens.

That being said, what's going on over there sure makes me grateful about our Bill of Rights and Constitution.

BTW, what's going on in Canada is NOT any different than what has been happening in Australia last two years except they did not need to declare martial law.

My brother in law is an officer in the Canadian military. Their senior brass have made it fairly clear that they won’t be deploying against peaceful protests. Let’s hope Trudeau had overplayed his hand on this one.

Back to Ukraine. So Kamala buggars up, and let's face it even if she were the most articulate she has no presence. And it is too risky to let flippy joe loose cannon over there. So that pretty much sets the tone for any future interaction with Vladimir himself. The top general is a wussy so it is hard to imagine a diplomatic way out of this mess.

Trudeau has changed the narrative from "peaceful protests" to " acts of terrorism" by foreign actors and right-wing racists. Of course, the government owned State media reports it as such as well.

He also does not need troops, there are plenty of police officers willing to do as they are directed it seems.

I am glad I am not a Canadian.

And thank God for the constitution and a republican form of government. The liberal elite in this country, abetted by the media has been attempting to do the same thing with the capital demonstration and riot (while ignoring the BLM riots). DOJ's conclusion that domestic "terrorism" is the greatest threat to the country underscores that effort. But the constitution still protects minorities from the lockstep tyranny of a majority. With just a bit of luck, the coming election cycle will be an opportunity to begin to reverse this tide of liberal orthodoxy. Such a reversal will be much harder to accomplish in a parliamentary democracy where the creation of coalitions empower 36% of the electorate to exercise dictatorial power (I don't know how else to describe the current state of emergency in Canada).

The US Constitution has proven remarkably easy to violate over the last few years, esp. regarding Freedom of speech and The right to bear arms. A remarkable document, now under siege....
Tangentially, I used to laugh at conspiracy theorists (as some of us have done, above) until The Wuhan Lab leak......now I'm not so sure about anything......FWB

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
