I would assume the heroic Congressman's constituents are dealing with it as well as they "book flights home." All things considered, I think I would hang out at the King David or wherever until a flight was available from Ben Gurion or Queen Alia.

I just don't have a lot of patience for grandstanding from whichever side of the aisle. It looks like the US government is going to start charter flights today which is a good thing. Something they should have had in the works earlier if for no other reason than to deny Mills his five minutes.

Totally agree with you. On a separate note, I mentioned in an earlier post that another friend is leading a small group in Jerusalem. They are having no issues whatsoever. The sites, restaurants, hotels, etc. are open and they are carrying on their visit without interruption. This fellow is very savvy and lived In Jerusalem for decades, so perhaps it is a poor example. But it seems that panicking and trying a quick exit is the worst thing one could do right now.

At this point in my life I certainly would not want to be there.

I would not currently jump on a flight over either. However, if this had happened while we were there earlier this year, I hope I would have had the presence of mind to fully understand the situation and not join in a panicked rush for the exit.

Not surprised that the airport in Amman is overwhelmed. It’s neither huge or well run… ramping up overnight to take on a huge increase in passengers would be difficult…

I am surprised there are no hotel rooms…

Amman was the staging point for the private sector to enter and exit Iraq for the first few years of the war.. literally thousands of people poured in daily and would typically wait 2-3 days on flights to Iraq.. and there was never a hotel space problem that I’m aware of… there were literally over a million Iraqis that exited Iraq through Jordan during the first few months as well… hotels got crowded… but I always found a room…

If anything I’ve questioned how all the hotels have managed to stay in business since the wars shut down..

I suspect that you are right. I am dealing with a data set of one. A tour company literally dropped our friend at the Amman airport with five bus loads of their customers. No hotel rooms, no flights, just a pile of luggage on the curb. Apparently there were many others doing the same thing. As you might imagine, there is mass confusion. Many of the folks are elderly and don’t know how to navigate in a foreign and chaotic environment. They would have been far better off at a hotel in Jerusalem.

If you have contact with them and they are still having difficulty, feel free to connect them to me… I don’t know if I can solve their problem.. but I’ve got several contacts in Jordan… up until about 3 years ago my firm had been executing a couple of different contracts that specifically deal with the Israeli-Palestinian problem for the previous 10 years… we still know some folks at the embassy.. know some folks at the hotels.. do business with a handful of large Jordanian firms, etc..

I’m betting I can find them some safe quarters to sleep in and a safe way to and from the airport once they find a flight…

I believe that HAMAS are just pawns in a much bigger game

The sheer brutality of their attack was deliberate and ordered

Designed to put Israel in an impossible position

And light a fire in the Middle East

I don’t think this genie is going to be so easily put back in the bottle

A very real homeland security threat too as western countries are riddled with ‘players’ (to use an expression from the Troubles)

Thanks!!! Just got news that she got on a flight.

Hamas won the 2006 parliamentary elections and in 2007 seized control of the Gaza Strip from the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority. The Palestinian Authority, controlled by the rival Fatah movement, administers semi-autonomous areas of the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Hamas has fought four wars against Israel since taking power.

Hamas now has 100-200 hostages. Israel, essentially has all of Gaza held hostage. Reports today say Israel has ordered the northern portion of Gaza evacuated, approximately 1 million people. This is going to get very ugly, but it's on Hamas. The Palestinians could turn over the Hamas terrorists, free the hostages and give peace a chance. Hamas is the problem, aided by Iran. If the rest of the Arab nations truly detest Hamas and the Persians in Iran, now would be a good time to prove it. Instead, it appears the Arabs/Muslims throughout the world are siding with the Palestinians and making no distinction between them and Hamas.

What in the name is going on in the world. Naming a transgender woman of the year is a slap on the face to all those deserving women who should have that title. Not this idiot who doesn't know what gender he is. Where are the Women Rights movements on all of this? Why more women are not up in arms about all this stupid sh*t? SMH!!!! Wow!!!

Actually, thus far, the governments of the rest of the Arab world are playing this one very quiet. Fox is showing huge demonstrations in the Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. But Yemen barely qualifies as a functioning nation state and is awash in various radical Muslim groups. Protestors have gathered in Jordan, but the Jordanian security forces are keeping things well under control.

I think Hamas and Iran have the goal of turning the clock back to the 1990's. Thus far, they are failing rather dramatically. It is also just possible, the demonstrations in Western capitals will awaken a few more people to the contagion that is the Muslim refugee invasion of the West.

Of course there is still time for the BLM cadres to realize it might be time for a bit of Christmas shopping as they show solidarity with their Palestinian brothers.

Perhaps we could offer BLM members free travel to Gaza so that they can express their support for Hamas more directly!

My initial thought is that Jerusalem is fairly safe from the dumb rockets of Hamas. Obviously Hamas doesn't want to target their own people.

If Hezbollah enters the war in a massive way, are all of their large rockets dumb or do they have smart rockets than can target a King David?

Most Hamas rockets are solid propellant, unguided rockets.. ranges vary greatly depending on model and manufacture.. typically 10-250 KM in total range..

most are going to be Qassam 1, 2, 3, or 4 variants (built in Gaza.. but with components coming from Iran and other places).. with warheads ranging between 5-10KG...

Hezbollah rockets are a bit different.. they have a significant number of russian and Chinese designed/built rockets like Katyushas, Fajr 1, even some SCUD missiles, etc.. although they also have a lot of self designed/built dumb rockets as well..

In short Hezbollah's capabilities are much more advanced.. they are a much bigger fighting force (3x+ the size of Hamas), much better equipped, much better organized, etc.. and have significantly more capability overall...

Thanks.

Do their rockets have the ability to hit a specific target like the King David Hotel?

I dont think Hamas has that capability (its possible theyve developed it and Im not aware.. but I dont think so)...

Hezbollah on the other hand could give it an honest try though.. the SCUD for example has the range and is terminally guided..

That said if they want to try to take out a specific target like the KDH, there are other means that would have a much greater chance at success...

Iron Dome isnt great at fending off 5000 rockets going everywhere at once.. but it is pretty spectacular at protecting point specific targets.. and most of Hezbollahs rocket and missile technology dates back to the 1970's and 80's...
