If we had a contest here for the member who posts an ad from somewhere with the most ridiculous pricing on ammo/reloading components, you would have won hands down!

On MEWE its been noted fornan good while how the prices have gone mostly up, this also got a lot of influence on scammer that often would habe a deal too good to be true,

But it seems that much of scalping prices is going down, if one seek out the storea not known tomart8ficially keep them up since times beginning.

@Hogpatrol
Any fast powders be they rifle or shotgun fall into the unobtainuum bracket in Australia . Any thing quicker than 2207/H4198 we can't get. It's hurting a lot of people. I have 2#of 2205/H4227 after that's gone in stuffed for powder for my Hornet
Bob i have 2x littlegun 2x 2205 &1 of WW296 at about 13 gr per shot in the 22 honet it will out last me .You could buy factory Win 44 mag pull the bullets & use the powder in your hornet & sell the brass & bullets & may be make a profit the way things are going.

@rdog
I don't need to do that yet. I have 1kg of 2205 plus half a bottle of Lilgun and a bit of 296.
If worst comes to worst mine is a K Hornet so just fill it with 2207/H4198 and see a 40 or 45 grainer on it. Not as fast as 2205 loads but will do the job. I have 2kg of 2207.
If'n that ain't enough I can get some off you
Bob

Yeah, and don’t forget some of the outrageous asking prices for some types of primers. But, I guess it is what it is?
Agree. I just bought H4831 8 pound for $400 shipped from Brownells and 2,000 Federal 215 Magnum rifle primers for $500 shipped. But when you reload and want the practice what are you going to do?

Things seem to be settling down somewhat, at least at the big online shops like Midway, Grafs, and MidSouth Shooter's Supply.

Just bought a couple boxes of 175 gr Grand Slams in .284, paid 47 cents, I think.

Also bought a couple pounds of Ramshot Magnum for $28 each (that's about $3 or $4 more that it was before the plandemic). I usually buy about 8-10 pounds when I buy online so it'll cost average out the hazmat fee. But there really isn't any more powder that I need for the foreseeable future, and I really needed the Magnum.

There are normal deals out there, you just have to be patient and then jump on them when they present themselves.

In recent weeks, I've started seeing some of the Hodgdon-branded powders, some Vihtavuori, some RamShot, and some Winchester. What I have not seen is anything at all from Alliant. I have heard of some sporadic shipments but have yet to see one. My double seems to prefer Reloder-15 and I'm just about out.

Anyone out there had any luck with this? The closest I've seen was a 1-lb. canister of early 1990s vintage; and the seller was very proud of it.

I stopped in a Fin Fur and Feather last weekend near Toledo, Ohio. Limit one on powder but had a decent variety. Nearly all of the desired Alliant Powders, IMR 4064, 4831, 4895 etc. All primers save for any Large Rifle Magnum, $10 per 100, limit 3.
Powder prices were $53 per Alliant pounders and others were $40.

Both the 458 Lott brass and the 416 Taylor dies are what you might call "unobtainium". I am currently on and have been a waiting list for a while to have 416 Taylor dies made and i'd imagine I still have another long few months at least! As far as Lott brass goes, I finally just broke down and purchased a bunch of loaded ammo because it was the only option I had. I wish I would have seen these on GB! haha

Interesting, and good to know that some is getting out there.

There is a gun store about an hour away which receives occasional shipments of the Alliant and Hogdgon powders. I only transit that city once or twice a year and haven't stopped in there for several years due to some of his business practices. But I was passing through last month so decided to stop in and see what was in stock. "We had a shipment of powder and primers last week but they cleaned me out in a couple of days." He mentioned that some of the people who purchased own gun stores in other cities, or worked at one of the big-box stores (about two hours away). He will sell them all that they want without limit, leaving nothing for other potential customers. He never knows when the next shipment is due to arrive until it gets there, and does not run a waiting or call list (I asked). It's a heck of a way to treat potential customers, but it's his business to run the way he wants.

Maybe it's time for a roadtrip to Toledo.

I've seen a bit traveling around Ohio for work.
For the most part, non-chain gun shops away from the metro areas. It just plain sucks around Cincinnati. I've usually posted locations on this thread in case anyone might be traveling through that area.

LGS has small and large rifle primers for $80 per 1000.
Have a variety of powders available as well. Recently acquired RL17 for another member

@sgt zim
7mm 175gn grand slams at 47 cents a box is even cheaper than 1950s pricing. You should have bought everything they had in that style.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha

Finally managed to purchase some Reloder-15 at a gun show where a vendor had some. (I left some for the rest of you.) He also had several 1-lb canisters of -19 and (I think) -22 available. Said that deliveries were sporadic but that they were starting to trickle in. So there's hope.

At the same show, I bumped into an older gentleman (defined as anyone older than me) :) who was selling a lot of "new old stock" unprimed cases and loaded cartridges for our type of rifles. Most seemed to be from the 1950s thru 1970s vintage. He lamented that much of this was in calibers that no one wanted because it didn't involve a plastic rifle, and I replied that there were plenty of interested parties but that he just wasn't reaching them. I suggested that he come visit the AH forums. Hopefully we will see him here someday.

i feel for those that didn,t stock up when supplies were available and do help out some friends who have run short on things to reload with. but i will not run my self short with the supplies i need for my own shooting. the supplies i give to friends are to be given back when supplies become available again. to those i have given supplies to i say be sure to stock up when you can as i will not be giving any more because your to short sighted or lazy to.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
