Obsessed With Ruger Rifles Especially #1s

A friend of mine bought a No1 RSI in 7x57. We couldn't get a scope to zero on get groups any better than a,load of buckshot at 30 yards. It turned out to be a bent barrel. I will give Ruger credit they replaced it no question asked.
His next one is a beautiful 1984 model in 270 Winchester with a 26inch barrel. C ant wait to get to the range with a Chrony to see how it goes. Beautiful rifles but I'm my opinion not as classy as the old lowall and hiwall.

@WAB
My one regret in my life was not buying a No3 Ruger in 22 hornet for $500 A couple of years ago.
Bob

Wow, that would have been a find! You don’t see a lot of No1’s in .22 hornet and I’ve never laid eyes on a No3 in hornet.

I love mine. Bought it at the first Cabela’s Super Store in Sydney shortly after it opened. One of the most fun rifles I own.
@WAB
What is the Cabelas superstore in Sydney mate. I live an hour North it would be great to see it.
Bob.
My favorite hunting rifle of all time is my Ruger #1 in 30-06 its light, fast handling and accurate what more could you ask from a rifle.
@Art Lambart II
Art the only thing you could ask for that would be better is one in 35 Whelen with a 24 or 26 inch barrel to really make the Whelen since.
But you already know that.
Bob

DANG, right idea wrong country.
Had a look in Cabelas in Winepeg.
Holy snapping duck Batman it's HUGE.
BOB

Yep, they were great stores right up to the day that Bass Pro Shops bought them and ruined them.

I have two Lipskys or Hollowell special run mod 1-S, blue and wood with Alex Hendry forends and Iron sights, 250 total production of each guarantee..One is a a 250-3000 fwt 1-S with a special run with 24 inch barrel and its a 1" at 100 with most any load..The other is a rare 1-S in .338 Win caliber and I claim it to be the most accurate 338 in the world, and won a bunch of money with it..It shoots 5 in .280 to .360 consistently..Drop by if you get to Idaho and shoot it..bring your pocket book! :):)

My 7x57 is a AJ Renner mod 77 fwt, the stock is schnable with a cross bolt in the forend as one sees on a muzzle loader, Has side panels, its a one incher and shoots almost any load to the same POI, its my all time go to hunting rifle, its the only gun I have ever bought that I wouldn't sell..I Guess gun trading and selling and buying is in my DNA, or a character flaw! :)

I was in a Cabela's yesterday. Gun room empty and locked, 1/2 the shelves in the store completely empty the rest filled with turkey gear, fishing and waterfowl gear. Not the same store I was used to seeing. Sad really, hope the investors are looking long term not short returns.

That K1A in .35 W. must come back with some enthusiasm! Pretty light rifle for that big'un. I have the same rifle in .257 Roberts, very sweet and gentle shooter.
Also have a .35W but its in the heavier and longer barreled S model.
Had the 6.5 K1A some time ago but sadly let it slip away.

It's not too bad, but a little more noticeable with the 250 Gr. Partitions and Core-Lokts. The 200 and 225s Gr. loads are what I mainly shoot. Testing out some Hornady 200 Gr. Interlocks with RL-15 this weekend.

I have two No.1 a 30-06 and a 450/400 nitro express.
A Hamilton Bowen 470 NE conversion similar to one published by Ross Seyfried. Never fired. With Bowen having passed away... I want to keep it pristine. The 416 Rigby is great but recoil is stout. The 458 became the test mule for my article in manMagnum on bringing 458 Lott power to standard 458's.

@LT Backstrap
Forget RL15 go to CFE223 and load it up a 250gr at 2,700fps and a 225 at 28 to 2,900 fps will get your attention in the Whelen.

When did Hamilton Bowen die?

Hello, My wife and I hunted with Marius 2 years ago. He fit us into his schedule after a different outfitter "bailed" on us. He was always very good with communications and although we didn't end up meeting him personally, he called us multiple times during our hunt to make sure things were going well. We were very happy with him.

Reach out to the guys at Epic Outdoors.

They will steer you right for landowner tags and outfitters that have them.

I have held a membership with them for years and they are an invaluable resource.

Way better that asking random people on the internet...WAY better

Skydiver386,

Did you ever find your 30-06 CZ550? I own a fairly solid conditioned one, if you wanted to talk.
