I called Atlanta customs yesterday, spoke with a Mr Campbell, very accommodating, his comment he knew not one thing about this issue., said he would check and call back. Within the hour he called...still did not any specific answers. They have no plans at this how it will be handled from a logistic standpoint, or when it will be enforced and generally in the dark about the whole situation. My ITN is in the system and ready for my trip in May. He did tell me to,contact the Export division in Atlanta two weeks before departure for any information that may be available. They are in the dark, more than we are regarding this, so maybe this problem will be handled in some type of reasonable manner for the temporary export and import of personal weapons. I believe the Senate passed an amendment blocking any passage of the UN Arms Control Treaty, under which, I believe, this rule was written. passage in the Senate was in the last few days, BUT, I may be misinformed. Anyway better safe than sorry, get that ITN just in case you will need it.
