If I Owned A Double Rifle

A stunning example of the craftsmen's best work. I suspect when it was commissioned, the intended use was more to make a statement, rather than to shoot something. It's a lot more at home in a gun room where Brandy & Cigars are served, than actually being out on Safari.

The client that had it made also commissioned an Africa rifle that is in production.

So norfolk, when are you expecting delivery of your new Africa rifle?

Ah yes we can all imagine ourselves in an old canvas tent with an oil lamp burning. Our double rifle leaning up in the corner of our tent and smoke billowing from our pipe as we take time to write down our memories of the day's hunt. Classic Africa maybe not reality!
Regards,
Philip

After seeing old footage and pics, yes I have had this daydream also!

Never as its not me commissioning the work. @reedy0312 get a double and a pipe your half way there. I do miss being at the camp fire with my pipe on the go

You had the pipe I just had the nice bottle of Whiskey! Don't know that I will ever have a double unless @edward wills me his Sabatti.

When you say nice whisky thats not bourbon your referring to is it (I mean no offence)?? I had a rather nice Craigellachie 19 Year Old to get through which I did with ease. :D Booze::D Passed Out:

Blanton's fine ky bourbon. Very smooth!

A fine double rifle, old Scotch, a good cigar, right next to a warm African campfire. That's my dream!

That cigar scotch and rifle needs a nice Stetson Gun Club in tawny to top it off. I think I'll start show us your hunting hat thread
Im going to get myself an akubra hat for hunting and everyday use soon. @CAustin I'll keep my eye out for some Blanton's I think I know where I could get some in the UK. As for the double rifle I'm going for a new job that I should be hearing about tomorrow. If I've got it I might just have to get a double in 375 naturally.

For me its the music score from out of Africa that does it.

Fully agree. The entire production was almost overwhelming, especially on the big screen!

Possible new job, possible new double......access to Blanton's ! Man it's time for you to go back to Africa. And you didn't have to be nice to the brother n law.

Well the thing is its a big birthday for alison next year and I might do her the mother off all party's so that might take up the budget. If I do get this job that is. Mind you I could get a nice new scope for my rifle, I rather like the look of the new zeiss V8 1-8x30 IR

I love my Stetson gun club! But mine is in olive!

Just spent the last half an hour or so in the garden practising with my Francotte bolt rifle. Got it down to 2 snap caps in 1.67 secs on average!! I guess I dont NEED that double but boy it would be nice to have one.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

may I suggest Intaba Safaris in the East Cape by Port Elizabeth, Eugene is a great guy, 2 of us will be there April 6th to April 14th. he does cull hunts(that's what I am doing) and if you go to his web site he is and offering daily fees of 200.00 and good cull prices. Thanks Jim
Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
