Germany Hunting Pictures

Maybe the birds once flew over Germany?

Thanks for sharing all these photos!

Texas methods are here not allowed, but a wonderful footage.
Very cool video Foxy. Thank you for sharing. Do you know where this was taken and is it normal for the farmers to not coordinate with the Paechter to have hunters available for the harvest?

Pictures taken over the last month around Vilseck. I was down there for work and figured I'd take my drilling with me in case any hunting opportunities arose and I sure am glad I did. A friend of the family took me out to his lease the week after i got there and, as soon as I got in the stand, a decent Rehbock was standing in the open broadside at about 200 yards. He wasn't acting nervous at all and the wind was good so i took my time and got set up and loaded my rifle, and that was that. First Rehbock down. Aside from being my first Reh, the thing that made this really special was that the Jaeger who took me hunting bleached the skull for me and mounted on a plaque that was hand carved by his late uncle before he passed. He said it was his last one and he was saving it for a special occasion. I was floored.
I did quite a bit more hunting while I was there but the Sechser came through a guided hunt with Wild Jaeger in Vilseck. Ricky and I were in the stand by 0430 and at 530, this Sechser and a smaller buddy of his were out cruising for does and at 50 yards, the drilling did its work. After the successful hunt, we took the Reh back to the Paechter's house where he showed me the litter of Deutscher Jagdterriers that he had for sale. Knowing the versitility of these dogs and what they are capable of, of course I immediately wanted one. All it took was sending one picture to the wife to get her blessing. I have to say, it was a great trip to Bevaria that I will remember for a long time to come.

Darren ,first of all: Waidmannsheil to your roebucks.
You came good clear with the Drilling ,its not easy to coordinate the barrels ,when you are under pressure.
Most hunter here, feel good and save, when they use him the whole year.It needs training and then they will never miss him.

The video was made in the near of Hamburg.
It were necessary to coordinate hunter /farmer during the harvest. But reality is an other thing.
Lots of the fields are to wide and big ,you have not enough hunter to surround (And this kind of hunt is the most dangerous of all, I fear it).
During the day we are at work :-(
In the few hours we have summerdays this year, every farmer is harvesting around the clock.
Where should the hunter come from.......
Not to organize in so many cases.
Darren: the Terrier and you-I think this were a perfect team. This pic makes a fanatstic impression.Get him.

puhh-thank you my brother:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Here comes Lea,the hound from a hunting buddy from South Tyrol/Italy
It is a Bayerischer Gebirgsschweißhund (Bavarian Mountain Bloodhound).
An ideal dog for mountain hunting, quick, perserving and agile.
A wonderful breed, but not a dog for beginner.
She is a beauty ,isn't she ?

Hunting in the Karpaten again-Red deer Rut 2016

just coming back from the Rut again, where we hunted last year in Romania.
But we had not the success we wished.
The weather was very indifferent and the Stags are very sensible for that.
Warm, than snow, than to warm again and than in some parts wolves .
Hunting in the wilderness can not always be a success story, but we had nevertheless a great time in the woodlands of the Karpaten-Mountains.
A cottage deep in the woods, our hunter drove every day in the valley, to get the meal ,which his wife was cooking for us .
Is there something more beautiful ?
Cottage.JPG

you need the roar of the Stags or a call so you can stalk to them or they are coming to you.
But they was not in the Rutmood.
The best time there are the days around the 27th of September.Always, but this year the Stags roared when we was leaving:(
I saw only one stag round 7 kg trophy weight, but just in a split of a second,no chance to shoot .
The Karpaten Hirsch--the Stag, there is not easy to hunt.He grew up with a lot of predators and its not to compare like a Rut hunt in Hungary. The chance here is 50%, in Hungary almost 100%
Nevertheless, my hunting buddi has overslept a King of the woods with 9-10 kg

Life is hard in the Karpaten .Hard for everyone in Dracula country.Especially for roes.Wolves, lynx, long, long wintertime with heavy snow and deep cold and in the valleys poaching dogs.
I had not expected a roebuck at a level over sea from 1.500m.They are not many here.
Here we met a stoneold, very good one.
We have roes enough at home and I don't wanted to kill the "Professor of survival"

When I m booking a hunt,I always want that we are the only (human) hunters in a property.
When wolves are also hunting there, for example, you must change in an other part, because the Stags don't want to call their own butcher. And you don't hear a roar for the next time. And also tall propertys beeing able to get narrow.

During a morning stalk,we saw a very strong (kapital we say) lynx on 90 m.
He was lying on the ground like a big dog and was looking at us for round two minutes.
The lynxes have huge territories from 10.000 ha and they need 60 roes a year-one.
But here they are protected and I dont want to know, what the local hunters are doing when they are alone and see one...........
Luchs.JPG

I changed the position to make a better picture,he stood up and walked away, not in hurry-with dignity.
A real Lion-King.

Sometimes I thougt, this land is on the backside of the moon.
The 19th and the 21th century are getting often together
DSC01644.JPG

For the farmer and rancher are wolves and bears a real and a big problem.
In the neighborproperty (20.000 ha) was much more agriculture than by us.
Per year they are loosing 60-100 sheeps and a few cattle by bear and wolve.
Lot of dogs are protecting the herds.
When they was puppies ,they were placed in the heards, grew up with them and they think they are sheeps. No joke !
Big herds have 20 of them. Its always a struggle between life and dead.Look at the collar-all dogs have that to protect their throats.

Im always fascinated for hunting there.
We heared wolves, saw bear and lynx.
On two days (of six) the Rut was not sooo bad .
Its a privileg to hunt there. And the beauty of this area is endless.

this area is only 1,30 hours by plane from Munic away.

I enjoyed reading this latest installment. Beautiful country you get to hunt!

Looks like a great time. Romania is on the top of my list for Europe, but I have a couple of hunts before then. Your pictures sure give a good feeling of the hunting area

Thanks for sharing that hunt Foxi.
Great country.

Thank you for sharing Foxy. You really do capture what it means to be passionate about what we do and love.

Heym (and Krieghoff) are producing wonderful solid doubles.
Sure Holland & Holland is an other liga.
But than, you must be an oil sheikh
I took a tour of the factory a few months ago. Absolutely amazing craftmanship. After demoing a Heym 26B, it quickly earned a place on my list of must-have rifles

I had a very kind invite from a friend in Germany to come over for 4 days of driven hunting and stalking. I had a fantastic trip and managed to shoot my 1st wild boar after an exciting stalk into them feeding on a field at night and snow falling.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
