For Sale Fixer Searcy Double In 500/416 NE

I still don't understand how the gun was regulated with ammo from the maker and the buyer (which knows how to fire a firearm) can't get the gun to fire accurately. (n)(n)(n)(n)(n) I don't see a target posted but this is the most troubling fact posted. Health problems can happen to anyone. The fact that Matt is practically giving the gun away at a significant discount, is pretty troubling. Its an act of giving up hope.
If I waited 2 years for a gun and it was not accurate I would be more than a little upset:sneaky:.

If the gun shoots well after Butch has worked on it...…...then that's a whole different matter. The fit and finish may not be perfect that is a matter of perspective and perception.

I think the raffle is a grand idea. It's a win win for all parties and give someone a fresh start with the double with nothing to lose but a 50 dollar bill for a raffle ticket.

So I have to ask Mr. Searcy a question for clarification. Am I to understand that if I was to buy this rifle or any other Butch Searcy rifle, and it ends up needing work, you will not service or warranty the rifle?

I just want to make sure I understand his policies.

I don't know if this has been answered rookhawk...and I am certainly not authorized to speak for Butch.

I do know that on his website he states this:

Be advised, Warranty on my rifles are null and void if gunsmithing is done on one other than me! If you wish to use a gunsmith of your choice then I suggest you have him call me if he needs any help. There's allot of good gunsmiths out there and allot of terrible ones as well.

I imagine this policy was born out of more than a few rifles getting butchered and then Butch being expected to fix them or face the wrath of the customer. As we all know, the internet is a powerful tool!

So perhaps Butch is invoking this rule on this rifle? Just speculating. Perhaps Butch can clarify.

I asked because I was going to make Matt an offer on the gun, priced based on Butch's reply. If he confirms what he said previously, that he will NEVER work on this gun...that changes the price I can offer Matt. I didn't want to offer less to Matt than the gun was worth, but that requires info from Butch.

Don't hold your breath...since his nasty comments he disappeared.

He probably at the age where he really doesn't care. I'm kind of getting like that.

I guess he's not interested in selling the business when he retires. He's going to have a tuff sale when his goodwill is shot to hell, because of his attitude.

I was looking at possibly ordering one of his new basic models in 450-400 3”. It’s reasonable for a double. I’ve been emailing him back and forth. After reading all the comments, I’m now really reluctant to place my order. I may just stick with my original plan an order a Chapuis from JJ Perodeau? I can understand in a way his position concerning age and attitudes. I myself am getting less concerned with things!

I think a raffle to sell the gun, is a GREAT IDEA!

Me too! That way one would not be out too much money for a boat anchor.

We don't know that the gun is useless. Do you have a target from the gun, I don't. Until there is target as evidence, I wait to hold judgement.
I have patience.....and time.

60 tickets at $100 each or something like that?

I’d be down for a couple of chances...

I think, that is reasonable @mdwest ! I wonder if Matt is open to the idea?

It is best to know both sides of the story. I work on firearms also, sometimes the customer does not express completely the whole problem. Then you find something that is not correct. Maybe you fix it gratis, or charge accordingly. I have been in the middle of some real mud during these times. A customer says fix it, to me it is either right or it is not. Had people yell about cost of parts. Not my fault. So you take a bath on labor to maintain good relations. I have to pay the same price for bread, milk, gas and meat as the next man. I remind people, I am not a prostitute!

I would be in a for a few tickets as well.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
