I see a lot of comments here about anti hunters but there is also another and major group of people who are neutral about hunting or don’t care much.
Those are the people who will decide the future of hunting and we should not give the anti hunters tools to convince them.
For that and being someone who have seen where they were bred and how the CBL hunts are staged, I'm glad this terrible put and take practice is being banned.
We should not defend practices which are ethically wrong in the name of defending hunting because in the long run it can hurt us more.

Keep reading people say this over and over. If your point was true about the major group of people will decide the future. We'll this would not have happened in the first place. We live in a different world, the power of a few make the law for many.

The other side understands how to manipulate the situation. They are good at it plain and simple.

It is what it is, believe what you want. I'm just stating the facts that some of the people saying this do not 100% see the big picture.

Sorry to break the news, any hunting is seen as a threat to antis. It's like gun control, they will not be happy until guns are completely outlawed.

As far as experts go, are these the same experts on global warming? Careful what you believe, experts have agendas too.

I can tell you right now here in Colorado, the Marxists are trying to pass a flurry of gun bills to disarm law abiding citizens. Not ONE bill has anything to do with reducing crime or holding criminals accountable. It's the same mindset as the anti hunters who pushed the ballot measure here to be voted on in November to ban Mountain Lion and Bobcat hunting. It has nothing to do with sound wildlife management practices. Governor Polis here is pushing to ban any future new oil and natural drilling starting in 2032. That has nothing to do with sound energy policies. Do you see a pattern here? The radicals are radicals over a wide swath of interests regardless and they WON'T give up until EVERYONE lives like they do. Their aggressiveness seems to have substantially increased since the pandemic and Brandon's election.

Some here are categorizing/painting with the same brush all CBL practices as bad regardless of if they follow the law or not. There are bad apples and practices everywhere. There is a quote I saw online a couple of years ago, by a Brazilian author (Paulo Coelho) whom - full disclosure - I have never read. But that quote dances through my mind quite often; it resonated with me. Maybe I have shared this before on here; I do not recall.

'One day you will wake up & there won't be any more time to do the things you've always wanted. Do it now.'

Which is why I am still looking into a lion hunt for next year. Combine this thread with that other one on threats to hunting? Yeah, the time is now. I'm not going to ever be able to afford a lion hunt in country with wild lions. I have spoken with a good number of reputable outfitters on this site about a lion hunt in RSA, and virtually everyone I have talked to has laid out for me hunt conditions that I am or would be at peace with - some better than others.

Whatever you plan to hunt my friends - do it now. A good reminder @Quest#1

Ontario - ok, need some Help here as I can’t “stretch” your analogy of Climbing Everest vs a CBL hunt?? Are you comparing the “use of a rope” to “cheating”? Like a CBL vs Wild Lion Hunt ? I’m just lost here — and part of it is I can’t even imagine You could make it to Everest Base Camp in a Helicopter….forget the Rope, it would take two Sherpa’s to carry you anywhere…including your Hotel in Napal.
Now, lets get back to some more realistic arguments — kidding as this is a Fun topic and introducing “Everest” was unique & creative….No one else could of thought of that — Congratulations & Thanks !

I'm not a mountain climber, but I believe a part of the ascent can or does make use of ropes? To the top of Everest? Absolutely a mountain climber, even with ropes. You and I have different perspectives sir, on engaging in a CBL hunt and, apparently, mountain climbing.

These analogies are ridiculous. The pro-CBL crowd is trying to act like they are hunting’s last defense. I’d compare it more to illegal immigrants. They aren’t supposed to be here and now they want rights. Both should have been handled early and they wouldn’t be the problem they are now.

They have ropes strung out that novice "mountain climbers" can cling to in their attempt to "climb" Everest. A local quadriplegic supposedly made it with his lawyer ... with some tech assistance of course.

Perhaps not the best analogy but the point should be clear enough.

I hunt plains game behind fences. But there are calves/lambs/colts/ fawns running with the animals I'm hunting. The animals I hunt were not raised in a dirty pen and then dumped out for me to shoot.

On my first safari a great deal came up for a 48" sable. Okay, if it's known exactly the size of this bull's horns he must be from a breeding operation where he could be handled. My suspicion was confirmed and I was not interested ... at any price. Sable aren't the most wary of animals to start with. I don't imagine it would have been much of a hunt. Just shooting horns. Legality aside, I really have no concept how anyone could value a "trophy" from a pen raised lion. Just don't get it. Maybe there's something wrong with me?

These same points on both sides get made every time this argument comes up. I really don’t know how to classify a CBL operation as good. What I gather every time from these threads is no hunter who participates in this wants to see the lion farms or participate in the release then only want to see the tracking aspect and ignore all else. What laws did you verify were followed? As far is I can tell there are none except a permit and a 72 or 96 hour release time. This practice is legal in the absence of laws. I’d really have more respect for many on the pro-CBL side of this argument if they just outright said they support put and take hunting instead of trying to hide behind it’s legal or some far reaching justification.

Let me tell you what the big picture is:
Hunters and Anti-hunters are in the minority, the biggest majority are the people who have no opinion on this subject and neutral about it and that includes millions of fisherman, outdoorsman and such.
If this weren't the case we wouldn't have any hunting because it would have been banned.
And, NO the power of few don't make the law for many, at least not in this country.
Last time I looked we were living in a democracy where majority rules.

If CBL hunting would have a positive impact for the hunting industry and hunters overall , SCI which is one if the biggest pro hunting organizations in the World would not have banned it at their conventions and organization.
I don't think anybody here and knows better than them.

Outfits pulled out of concessions and gave them back to the government, thus turning it back over to the locals.

When CBL shoots go away, nothing will be lost as far as conservation goes. Just an over-all lion population number people keep throwing around.
