9.3x62 Optics

I think you should look for an optical rifle scope that suits your hunting style and shape rather than the caliber of your rifle.

In this instance the caliber/cartridge and the scope I’m pairing with it match up almost perfectly with my hunting preferences.

That would be for a first time trip to Africa (Zimbabwe) with a medium bore heavy hitter on my current list of eland, kudu, bushbuck and nyala if available. The push feed M12 will be just fine for larger PG and get me there quicker than what I really want which is an M98 375 h&h (five times the cost of the M12).

I really prefer taking any shot well under 200 yds if at all possible, and hopefully under 100.

Now if I ever get the M12 here is another question. It’s been a little over 4 months since I ordered it, which I understand 3-4 months was normal before covid (at least for the folks I ordered through). Thanks to covid I’m probably not going to get too impatient until 5 or 6 months comes along.

I have a ghost ring peep sight on my 9.3 x 62 Mauser Husqvarna. It provides the fastest target acquisition possible along with very acceptable accuracy.

I enjoy using iron sights also. I have the EAW QD pivot mounts/rings for this setup.

I use the Vortex Crossfire II , 3x12-56mm great scope for low light and a really wide field of view with a red dot reticle , comes with a lifetime warranty and sells for around 370 American. Mine is on a Zastava M70 Mauser action 9.3x62, Brought this nice Elk down less then 2 weeks ago.

Congratulations! That’s a nice elk.

@Morg
Nice elk! What were the details - bullet/load data, distance, performance, etc?

Details : Alpine AZ , unit 27 , 7 Minutes of Daylight left 2nd day of a 6 day season, Bull moved out of the tree line about 300 yards, a few cowl calls and the Bully came in at 130 yard took the shot with a Mauser Action 9.3x62 using Nolser Trophy Grade 250 grain Accubond , went clean through obliterating the heart.

Outstanding short story. :) Hope I have something similar occur next year in SA.

My reload of choice is the same 250 gr Accubond.
The Optic on my CZ 550 American is a Nightforce 2.5x10-42. I'm really happy with it, btw.

I originally wanted to use the Norma 230 grain Ecostrike but I could not find the ammo anywhere and one source said it is no longer being made or shipped to the US. Nightforce scopes are awesome much better then what I use for that nail drive longer range shots. I wish to go to Africa , budget just never seems to let me get there. There is a Spiral horn package I dream of in SA, in the Waterberg Mountains, for Eland , Kudu , Nyala and Limpopo Bushbuck. The Zastava M70 I use would be great there to. I do hope that when you get there your hunt meets with the greatest of success.

If it were me and your use get a 1.5-10x42 Leica ERi and a ballistic turret. Shoot 250gr Nosler Accubond for a little flatter trajectory

I was using Nolser Trophy Grade , 250 grain Accubond's on that Elk I can attest to its capabilities.

VX-6HD 2-12x42 on my 9.3. Lots of flexibility close and further out, very clear glass, and light weight. Good balanced scope for most applications.

Suggestions/preferences for scope pairing with 9.3x62 cartridge? Any opinions welcome and appreciated. Thanks!
Hi There...

Been using my Mauser 93x62 for a few years now. I have had a few scopes on my including a Leupold 1-3x25, a Leupold 3-9X40 and a Lynx Lx2 3-9x40. I found the low magnification scope a little difficult as I do not have great eyesight. But a good quality 3-9x40 or similar will do the trick.

The 9,3x62 does not have terrible recoil so most good quality scopes with good eye relief works well.

My 2c.

Enjoy the hunt and shoot straight.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
