Your favorite hunting rifle of all time

Only rifle I ever shot with a muzzle brake was a Barrett 50 bmg and it definitely needed it. My ears needed plugs and muffs.

My old ruger 77 in 338 win mag .I hunted with it 35 years and took over 250 heads of big game with it .I took it too Alaska but changed to a Weatherby 338-378 accumark to shoot longer range .I still hunt with both of them though

As long as this thread has gone on I still can’t answer this question!

@Bullthrower338
Cody I will simplify it for you.
My favourite rifle is easy .
It's the one in my hands at the time.
It maybe a different rifle each trip but the one I have in my hand is the favourite at that particular time because it's the one I chose because I know it will get the job done I have asked it to do at the time. Be it the Whelen, my 25, my beautiful 1885 lowall or even my humble old Remington 788 in 222.
If they weren't favorites I wouldn't own them.
That's why I will NEVER own or use a 243.
Bob
See simples.

Quote two of my favorite coyote rifles. 257 ROB. 243 win both with liter bullets I cant see any reason for you not to try a 6mm they are very accurate. most of the time I pick the rifle of choice by bullet weight for animal being perused.40 gr. to 400gr and many in-between

@wolfhunter
I just plain don't like the 6mms full stop.
My 25 groups 0.8 inches at 200 yards with 100gn TTSX, 117grain SST and 115gn nosler balistic tips so that's plenty accurate enough for me.

I think that it would be my custom 9.3x62. It is a pre-64 action and has gone from Africa to Idaho. I admit to having a fling with a 6.5 PRC Tikka now.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
