Your favorite hunting rifle of all time

Kimber 270 - love this rifle, shoots 1/4” groups at 100 with 150 grain A-Frames or partitions. Fits perfect and never had a problem, took it on my last safari and performed flawlessly.

I haven't posted on this thread in 3 years, and since then my "favorite" has changed from a CZ500 37H&H to a Blaser R8 Professional 375H&H. It's a bunch lighter, easier to handle with faster follow up shots possible...if needed.

My Browning BLR .308 Win. Love it.

I as well would probably pick my browning BLR in .308, it is a compact and slick package for swamp bucks and black bear, but it seems the last several years I’ve been using my ruger no.1 rsi in 7x57 more often.

Hi Velo Dog,

Great rifle! Would like to see some pictures.
I like very much, and have 3, those old Hensoldt and Zeiss 4x32.

Best regards!

CF
Hi Clodo,

I have had a lot of difficulty posting pictures in this forum.
However, I will take photos of my rifle and try to post one or two of them.

Cheers,
Paul (Velo Dog).

I do love my BLR takedown in 358 winchester but it just does not have the same aura as the Mannlicher Schoenauer 1905 in 9x56 ms (very similar caliber and performance on game). Wouldn’t ever sell either one.

I regret not buying the new Browning blr a shop had a few years ago, as always money was tight otherwise it would have been brought home. And off course it was a stainless takedown in 358win. Unfortunately I have many similar tales.

My choice is almost a tie. I really like my bolt 30-06 Cooper. Butter smooth and accurate with a great trigger.

But I REALLY like my Thompson Center Icon in .243. It shoots great, I have never shot at an animal with this rifle that I didn’t end up getting. I have missed some prairie dogs with it I suppose. It’s maybe a bit heavy and it’s not made anymore but, for me it’s a great gun.

Mine, so far, is my little Rem 700 I had bored to .358 win. 20" barrel (it started life as a youth model in .243) Brown's Precision 'Poundr' stock, Vx2 2-7x33. It's folded up every single animal I've shot with it. Light, handy & accurate. What's not to love!

You really can't beat the medium bores for short copies blood trails and minimal meat damage. They also are not fussy about bullet weights or powders. Just don't get caught up in max velocity as they don't need all that speed to do the job.

Mine is a 300WSM I had built off a blue printed 700 short action action, Hart barrel, carbon fiber stock and fits me perfectly. Slightly heavy since I went with a heavier barrel but it balances the rifle very well.

if I am hunting in good weather, I use a Kimber custom 330 Dakota with Swarovski scope. poor weather 35 Whelen A I fiberglass stock swarovski glass almost the same knock down power35AI devastating on big moose. kevin

I'll play, I'm a Ruger #1 fan, they are my favorites!
I've never understood the love for the No.1
It's me, I know, but I think they're as ugly as a mud fence!
I had a Tropical in .458 & hated it. The recoil would knock the action open against my knuckles, every time.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
