Your 3 favorite hunting cartridges of all time

here are my 3 22-250 Rem,25-06 rem 300nwin mag have a 25-06 with a 03a3 action douglas supreme barrel and semi manliquer stock that is a tack driver with 100 gr barnes ttsx

.243
30-06
.375

That's what I own right now so it would be wrong to select anything else.

Standard and boring I know but I wouldn't mind betting that those three calibres have taken more game than many others.......

308 Norma Mag
358 Norma Mag
and my ultimate fav 416 Taylor!
I really like the idea of the 358 Norma as well but I am not sure where I would use it instead of the 308 Norma. How do you see the overlap?

I got the 358 Norma for moose using 250gr Nosler Partions. 20" barrel with a Boyd's laminate stock, great for walking or sitting on a watch.

.223
.308
.375

Slight variation on your standard and boring but also what I have and use.

I like the 257 wby , 375 H&H and my 458win. Oh and my 22 mag! Shoot the heads right off those spruce hens!

I can't really come up with three. The overwhelming majority of my big game hunting has been with 300 Winchester Magnum, in one of two rifles. I have also killed a fair number of white tail deer with a 50 caliber muzzle loader. I took my .375 H&H to Africa, and hunted with it two days. I didn't get a shot at a kudu, but I did take a nice waterbuck. I have killed a lot of varmints with 17 HMR using Hornady vmax loads, but I wouldn't call it a favorite.

So, all that said:

300 Win Mag
50 cal muzzle loader
375 H&H Mag

This is a very difficult question as there are so many different species of stuff to kill and many will onver lap into a different category.

Ok

Stuff that will kill me, stomp me, eat me, squish me or play wild ping pong with my jingle Bob's?

600 OK
500 NE
460 WM

Things that will use you as a training aid to teach their children how to hunt or what to run over for fun.

378 WM
458 Win
416 Rigby

Long range dropping of animals that you just can't or don't want to get near and have a great chance of hitting.

30-378WM
378 WM
The Ultra Mag Line

Rounds to use in the country of Texas for Speed Goats, Mulies and white Tail Deer.

264 Winchester
25-06 AI
6 mm x 06 AI

Small edable stuff like deer.

250-3000 AI
308
7 x 57

Pigs and stuff like that.

223
6.5 Grendel
AK rounds

Bad People.

All the above and then some.

THREE IS NOT ENOUGH ....BUT
.204 RUGER
257 ROBERTS
.275 RIGBY
.338 WINMAG
.450/400
AND I HAVE KILLED A LOT OF HOGS AND A FEW DEER WITH THE .300 SAVAGE JUST BECAUSE I LOVE MY MODEL 99 RIFLE

I think mine might go like this:
223
270WSM
375 Ruger

223 covers varmints, and cheap target shooting, 270wsm covers whitetail, most plainsgame toys Kudu and Elk, and the 375 covers everything else.

Mine are (in order):

.300 RUM (Very accurate to 1000 yd)
7MM Rem Mag (Great all around)
.30-06 Springfield (Trustworthy)

7x57 mauser, 300 win mag and 416 rigby. Covered for ever situation.

That's a tough one. I have to go with 22lr, 7mm mag and 375 HH. I'm going to sneak my old Rem. 870 12 gauge in here, too. In a way, I'm not surprised to see the 375HH show up in nearly everyone's list.

Remington 700 BDL 243win
Remington 721 300 H&H
375 Ruger Guide Gun

Excluding the 22LR (bit hard to do), any decent 30 caliber (308/30-06), 9.X64 Brenneke and either 416 or 450 Rigby

You post is interesting. Favorite calibers...infer people's preferences, gun restrictions, game that people frequently hunt, game that people wish to hunt, cheap rifles, cheap ammunition, availability of ammo....a whole lot of categories.

I do find it interesting to read peoples choices!
We all are learnin' from each other, eh?

these are the ones i love
17 hmr
22/250
300 rum
aithough i just bought a packet of 375 hh factory loads (which im waiting for paper work to come back to pick up the rifle )and damn they look like theyre gunna be fun
Am I goin' to see you at Brett's on the sixth?
