@Brent in Az, sorry to hear of the passing of your uncle. Great smoke to celebrate his life. Long ashes to your uncle.

Some of the cigars I smoked over the weekend, and one in particular I have to celebrate our future victory.

I usually do not smoke flavor cigars, but this ACID Kuba, Kuba was given to me, so I put it to good use one evening. :) I don't believe I could smoke them on a regular basis, great smoke, but not my cup of tea.

Had the same experience with the Acid Kuba Kuba. Very sweet...

So, not a huge fan of Gurkha, but ordered a box of the Cellar Reserve 15 Yr Aged Solara cigars as a special B’day smoke today. I must say they are better than what I was expecting. Very smooth. With a perfect draw, even burn, and bold yet not overpowering flavor. I can’t remember what I paid, but would say this is an excellent $10 cigar all day long.

Speaking of flavored cigars - tried this CAO Moontrance....didn't put me in any sort of trance! Did have a nice undertone of vanilla and not too sweet but was just very bland to my palate. Burn was pretty good though.

Learn something every day, I didn't know CAOs made flavor cigars.

I also had a MF but in La Promesa last night. According to some reviews they tasted leather, oak and wood in this 91 rated cigar. For sure my taste buds are not nearly as refined (possibly completely dead!). Got a bit of some oak I think but was an excellent smoke no doubt and at a reasonable price too. As always the construction and burn were excellent.

Stopped down to the Cigar shop to pick up some sticks. Trying a couple of new blends they started to stock.

Hoyo de Monterrey - Epicure Seleccion

Approx $9.00 single stick price.

Pretty good blend from a proprietary Cuban seed, grown and made in the Honduras.

Light notes of coffee, spice, cedar, and toasty finish.

Can’t go wrong with any Hollos de Monterey

Bolivar Cofradia. Crafted by Estelo Padron in Honduras. Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, with Honduran and Nicaraguan long fillers. Very earthy, and a spicy finish. Very solid smoke for a budget stick $4.48.

Picked this Perdomo Habano Sun Grown the other day. Had no idea it was a bourbon barrel aged stick. Just thought it looked interesting. Really enjoyed it - spicy start but mellowed out very nice. I'm a fan. Not a razor sharp burn but held an ash very well. Can't remember what I paid for it.

I met Nick Perdomo at the MIA Int. Airport. I was going to Nicaragua, and he was goin as well, and had a bunch of vendors w him. Nice guy and down to earth, he gave me a handful of cigars when I told him I was a fan

Several years later we met again at a smoke fest in Homestead FL. By that time he was the Mayor of Miami Springs. His cigars quality & flavor went down hill a couple of years later. Not sure if him being away from the business hurt his business or not.
Perdomos are great cigars, but IMO it’s a hit or miss with them. Glad you enjoyed that smoke.

After one of the most brutal August's in memory, some rain came in late yesterday. High of 89 degrees today. Booyah!

Enjoying a beautiful morning, without sweating to death. Gotta love it.

A Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne with the Coffee. It's a great morning smoke.

Not happy with my local cigar shop. They have been jacking up prices, and this stick went up by almost $2.00.

This past year, Nick Perdomo, went on a marketing campaign, and lots of meet & greets at cigars shops around the country. I think his brand has taken a hit, and he is trying to revitalize it? I'm not big on Perdomo, but there are a couple I really like.
