Would you like a Cigar?

I took a page out of @Brent’s book and went off script with some cigars lately.

this one is The Oscar by a boutique brand by Oscar Valladares. I also had the Wild Hunter Oscuro.

. Both were very tasty, smooth but full bodied, and drew and burned nicely.

I also tried El Centurio, which came in a cigar sampler. It was delicious. Then I realized it was a My Father cigar and so I said “well duh, it is a MF, so of course its good.” All are moderately priced and leave you wanting to smoke more.

And again, to all the contributors of this thread, I want to thank you for getting me through all this Covid stuff as it gives me something to look forward to each evening to see what the taste buds will experience next. You guys rock!

Sort of a melancholy afternoon today. There is a celebration of life today in Minnesota for My Uncle who passed away. My Mom said that me and the Uncle were a lot alike. A couple of fiesty free spirits.

A cigar and some cold beers for you, Uncle.

See you on the other side!

Gents, I've been smoking these cigars while I do yard work, or when a premium just won't fit in. Let me tell you, they have not disappointed me one bit....they burn great, lots of flavor, and for under $2.00, what else can I say? Couple of the guys here in GA have purchased them, and they like them as well.

thanks for the recomendation Para - I know exactly what you mean on the yard work smokes! I call them my “mower” smokes but dont want to burn a good one when I’m tooling around!

My Father - Flor de las Antillas. This was rated #1 cigar in 2012 and a bunch of other 90+ ratings. Earthy with a bit of pepper. Price point is pretty good to boot.

Enjoyed it.

Those are good. I have one of those in Maduro, in the humidor.

Last year during my safari I discovered...I really like cigars! One of the notable highlights of my trip. So, I'm new to the world of cigar smoking, and I'm having fun. Here are two cigars I found I really like:

LFD Colorado Oscuro: dark, oily and rich. My favorite right now but they are getting hard to find.
Nub Cameroon: short and stocky, burns for an hour. Delightfully rich and full. It burns and draws flawlessly. Good price too.

Curious phenomenon, that cigars always taste better on a Friday after work.

Thank you, Don Pepin!

Right on Rum Runner - A fairly new cigar smoker myself. I get lots of good ideas from this thread.

:D You are absolutely correct...cigars and alcoholic beverages do taste better on the weekends!

I will tell you this. I have never, ever met a cigar smoker that I could not find myself having a good time around. There is just something about the genetic make-up/personality/whatever that a cigar seems to bring out the good side of them. I am not saying all cigar smokers are good guys/gals, but I must just be drawn to the good ones. Combine that with a love of hunting/fishing/outdoors, and you have a sure recipe for some fun, relaxing fellowship.

Glad you joined the thread @Rum Runner!

Well said Mort, well said

Rocky Patel Sun Grown Maduro

My first time. Heavy one dimensional cocoa on the first 1/2; it would be a good transitional cigar for those who like the flavored cigars. The 2nd 1/2 gets a little spicy with hay. In fact, I'm halfway in and about done - can't do the hay flavor. Great first 1/2 and took an hour. I think I can find better though.

@Brent in Az, sorry to hear of the passing of your uncle. Great smoke to celebrate his life. Long ashes to your uncle.

Some of the cigars I smoked over the weekend, and one in particular I have to celebrate our future victory.

I usually do not smoke flavor cigars, but this ACID Kuba, Kuba was given to me, so I put it to good use one evening. :) I don't believe I could smoke them on a regular basis, great smoke, but not my cup of tea.

Smoking one right now after a family cookout. So yes Brent, as you know I buy them several boxes at a time!

Fantastic smoke, never had a bad one. (y)(y)

Let me find out where my friend got it from. Not sure if they are any good, or who makes them. LOL!!!

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
