Would you like a Cigar?

Hmm

I have a humidor I used to use but it leaked, even after I siliconed it - like 50 humidity in winter and over 75 in summer. I constantly played with the gel beads until I used bodeva. Even then I sped through the bodeva packs within just a couple weeks.

The online cigar companies sell basically the same type of jars but acrylic. They seemed to have good reviews. Also folks use tupperdors

I guess I need to read up on this a little more

Thanks

Please let me know what you find out.

Having an "Oliva V" and a cold beer. As for the V it didn't start out very well, but after smoking it down about 1 1/2" it's settling in nice. As for the beer, I sent my wife in to get my growlers filled and when she returned she couldn't remember what it is other than Troegs (a microbrewery in Hershey). It's good though. Cheers!

Humidors are not seal completely, they need to breath a little and those jars do not, only when you open them to get a cigar.

Dont think I agree with this. As long as the jars are being opened occasionally it should be fine. Occasionally being every couple of weeks to let any ammonia out. That's all the breathing is really doing.

@curtism1234 I have found that a humidor and cigars are kinda like reloading and rifles. All rifles are different and you have to find that right recipe for YOUR rifle.

Play around with the humidity. Try different levels and go up higher and see if that helps. Heck try a tupperdore or a wooden humidor as @PARA45 suggests. Different things work for different folks.

Here in Dallas I keep mine as close to 65% as I can (I use heartfelt beads). It works for me. At 70% I had significant and consistent burn issues. At 65% those issues went away although it took a couple of months for the cigars to truly adjust.

Make gradual adjustments too. Be patient (that's the hard part). One day it will just click and be right and then you can really relax and enjoy that cigar.

I would lean to the 65-68% humidity. But as fast as I smoke’em, they may not even reach that. Nothing makes me cringe more than a review that says to “put it in the humidor for a few months to rest”. Heck, that’s like watching grass grow. Just a pet peeve. The only cigars I really keep in the humidor that long are the ultra expensive or ultra precious I am saving. Even those are at a daily risk of being pulled out and smoked for some random reason. So I just keep the house at 68 degrees and 65% humidity and listen to the wife complain as mushrooms grow on the walls. JK.

I do let mine sit. And I do find that it does, at times, make some cigars better. I smoked a Partagas No. 10 a couple of days ago that was so much better than others from the same box. It had been there right at 18 months I think.

I'm not a heavy smoker though, smoking only 5 a week or so and I keep 250+ cigars so it gives them time to sit, especially as I have some relatively inexpensive "regular smokes" that I smoke often.

To each his own!

I have a handful of Cigars in the humidor that have been in there about 5-6 months. Just some La Perla Habanas that I am aging just to see what the difference might be. Most of mine never last more then a couple months before they are gone.

I love cubans but these Olivas are nice at about half the price of the cubanos..(in Norway..) The wrappings are grown in Cameroon...so it is a taste of Africa.. :Cigar:

I like to sip some Calvados when smoking..

Starting off the afternoon festivities with a Rocky Patel Decade. Had big plans for this weekend, however, because of the current state of affairs, will have to celebrate at home.

Cigars. Cold beer. Beautiful Rib eye steaks.

Cheers!

I'm s fan of that one.

Alec Bradley- Prensado Lost Art

Med bodied. Smooth, yet, complex flavor notes. Prensado's are a good smoke.View attachment 340383

Not a fan, at least of the Prensado Corona Gorda that I've had. Still have one left so maybe I will smoke it tomorrow to see if I still think the same thing, its been there over a year so who knows? LOL

And I do like Alec Bradley too. Black markets are one of my everyday smokes as an example.

That's one of my favorite thing about cigars actually, that there is no right or wrong!

Ramon Bueso - Genesis Habano - Pretty powerful for me, but not too bad

@Royal, Olives and Padrons are one of my favorite cigars. It’s tough to get Cuban cigars in the US.

Speaking of Cuban cigars, I’m smoking this Cuban Partsgas No 4.

I love then both, and especially Padrons.

I have a couple of Cubans that were gifted by a dear friend. That alone makes them a special occasion cigar for me I think I have three left, maybe four?

Great minds think alike.

Started with a Romeo Reserve.

Followed by AB Decade.

After dinner with My Father Le Bijou.

Finishing with a Cuban Partagas Petite Corona and a cup of joe.

Great evening in isolation on my porch.

Blessings!

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
