Why The 30-06 Has Been rendered OBSOLETE

simon you and a lot more!! you joined after bart disappeared from the site, which was a shame as he liked to stir it up a bit :D

I think the main reason for that was that he likes his whiskey stirred and not shaken:D

I tried to set mine next to the garbage for pick up a few times but got tired of hauling back in the house;)

Just too toxic for a common landfill. EPA has a designated place for those obsolete 30 06.:)

Yea but they charge a disposal fee

Old caliber, but definitely anything but obsolete.

Fifteen year-old post. I would stir the pot but I think the stew is fossilized.

OP admitted on page one he had too much hooch in his gullet when he posted the thread. Hard to have a serious discussion built on something that started out as drunken babbling. Mods should have sent this one to File Thirteen.

Lazarus, come forth.

I find it very distressing that this long-dead thread has been brought back to life. I have more 30-06 rifles than any other chambering which includes the most accurate one in my safe (a LH Sako 85 Hunter with a Swarovski Z6 1.7-10x42). Now that I know they're not good for anything, I'm not sure what to do. I guess the bright side is that I can always replace them with 6.5 Creedmoors. Buying more rifles I don't actually need usually makes me happy. (y)

I find the OP’s logic just as compelling as the thread that claimed that the 375 H&H should be banned from Buffalo hunts. Nonsense. Click bait. And now I have participated in reviving it! I feel guilty.

Some come and some go but very few have the staying power as the tried and true 30-06. Still as effective an all round caliber as anything out there.

Jeez time flies.....and I wonder what happened to Bart....just seemed to vanish one day........

There are a number of newer cartridges that better the ballistics and terminal performance of the ancient 30-06!
Thought the 35w and the 338 Winchester did that years ago

Looks like he was only posting 2011 and 2012. Last checked in 2016. His photos don't show him to be geriatric back then so he likely didn't die on us.

I disagree its an excellent round with variety of bullet weights for a wide range for
taking game in any continent its all about choosing the right bullet and shot placement

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
