Want to buy Safari Binos

I gotcha. You think it would be worth it to move up to the 42mm over the 30mm. I can see that, especially for an all around bino.
Well this is gonna require some Gin and Vermouth to work this one out :ROFLMAO:

My suggestion is look at your hunting locations and style. If safaris are 50% or more of your hunts the. Go with a dedicated safari bino. If you still have some western hunt or mountain hunts in you an 8x42 will bridge the gap (especially if you plan on going guided, they’ll have a spotter).

I disagree with many on the integrated Range Finding Bino. I think they do have their place but, I prefer mine separate. A) I do a fair bit of bow hunting so i want to be able to range with 1 hand B) I also don’t like multiple pieces of equipment built into one incase one goes down or I lose it C) If I’m with someone, they’re likely spotting and calling the range while I’m on the gun. I find it easier to hand off a rangefinder than my Binos which are in a chest harness

I am looking at the leicas, can anyone tell me the difference between the geovid R which is $1400 and the 3200.com which is $2500. Is it just the ballistic calculator that's built in to the 3200.com. All I really need is an angle compensator, I could live without the rest of the stuff.

Anyone have any experience with these? I'm leaning pretty hard toward this. I think they will cover what I want to do without spending an additional $1000-$1500.

I’m out right now and can’t verify from a computer but I don’t believe the Geovid R offers true ballistic range while the 3200.com does. Please double check before you purchase.

I was very curious about this! Magnification range. So you recommend going all the way down as low as a 7x? I wondered what the "best" magnification range would be for the type of viewing that one would be doing over there. You think even 10x is quite a bit too much?
I like my 10x power. When I look at something I want to really SEE it - but that’s just me.

I think the old version did not, that's what concerned me, but it looks like the new ones or at least this pair on midway that I'm looking at says it does. The old ones also had to be purchased in yards or meters but the new ones can be switched back and forth.

What would y'alls opinion on these be for a "safari bino", this looks like a pretty good deal to me and also a pretty good all around size and magnification level, although I think They have them in 8x too
I used those in an 8x on my elephant hunt.

Thinking of selling them as I've got several others I like even better and might want a new pair of those Leica range finding 32's

You might have decided on the 10's and those are great. The 8's are also very good in that model. Either way, you are closing in on good choices. You will be pleased with the quality of buying from the top end brands.

Everyone is different on their gear selections but when they put reliable RF into binos, that was a game changer for many. I've never had any issues with 3 different types of RF binos and that's with a lot of use. I use them a lot to plan stalks...ranging different points and doing the math...if I get to that spot then I've got a 50 yard shot, etc. I also like having a lot less movement of gear by using one piece for multiple functions. Then if you factor in the shoot solutions that are possible in varying weather/elevation/etc, it really benefits a hunter.

3200.com are BT capable, they will talk to your Kestral. I believe it also has a more powerful beam.

Backyard Sniper, I was on this site a several weeks ago asking similar questions. I wound up with the Leica Geovid R 10x42, with Laser range finder. In short they are SUPERB in every way. $1399 at Eurooptic. I will be taking those as my primary Bino on my South Africa hunt this June. I will be using my Zeiss Victory pockets 8x25 for second set/lightweight. Both binos are set up with a Rick Young Harness. I know weight and size is one of your concerns, the Rick Young harness will completely eliminate the weight and carry issue.

That is what I'm going to go with, and in all honesty buying those would leave enough cash to maybe buy a decent set of pocket binos too.

Call S and S archery and talk to Rob he will give you great details on all of them. They offer great deals. Also call Doug at cameraland and talk to him.

Damn this thread, going to cost me $1400
You will thank us later. People need to figure this out earlier in their hunting career vs later. Hunt enjoyment and success are directly related to how well you can see and find things you are looking for.

No doubt. I’ve had perfectly fine 8x42 and 10x42s and a range finder that have served well over lots of deer hunting and have been thinking of making the jump to combined technology and this thread has made me decide to pull the trigger.

Only cost ya the difference in what ya paid and what you sold it for
That is reassuring if I ever need to sell…which I expect I won’t. A son-in-law or grandkid will likely receive someday.

Guys you if you are looking at Swaro give me a shout as we are Swaro direct. We are not Leica direct but I do have connections for them and I can try to beat the online prices maybe.

Just throwing this out there for those looking.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
