I have always heard everyone talk about the swaros, because they are obviously top notch gear, but it seems Lieca is getting a lot of votes from the guys I've talked to.
I gotcha. You think it would be worth it to move up to the 42mm over the 30mm. I can see that, especially for an all around bino.
Well this is gonna require some Gin and Vermouth to work this one out
I’m out right now and can’t verify from a computer but I don’t believe the Geovid R offers true ballistic range while the 3200.com does. Please double check before you purchase.I am looking at the leicas, can anyone tell me the difference between the geovid R which is $1400 and the 3200.com which is $2500. Is it just the ballistic calculator that's built in to the 3200.com. All I really need is an angle compensator, I could live without the rest of the stuff.
I like my 10x power. When I look at something I want to really SEE it - but that’s just me.I was very curious about this! Magnification range. So you recommend going all the way down as low as a 7x? I wondered what the "best" magnification range would be for the type of viewing that one would be doing over there. You think even 10x is quite a bit too much?
I think the old version did not, that's what concerned me, but it looks like the new ones or at least this pair on midway that I'm looking at says it does. The old ones also had to be purchased in yards or meters but the new ones can be switched back and forth.I’m out right now and can’t verify from a computer but I don’t believe the Geovid R offers true ballistic range while the 3200.com does. I used those in an 8x on my elephant hunt. What would y'alls opinion on these be for a "safari bino", this looks like a pretty good deal to me and also a pretty good all around size and magnification level, although I think They have them in 8x tooSwarovski CL Companion 10x30 Green Binocular Demo Condition A 58145

That is what I'm going to go with, and in all honesty buying those would leave enough cash to maybe buy a decent set of pocket binos too.Backyard Sniper, I was on this site a several weeks ago asking similar questions. I wound up with the Leica Geovid R 10x42, with Laser range finder. In short they are SUPERB in every way. $1399 at Eurooptic. I will be taking those as my primary Bino on my South Africa hunt this June. I will be using my Zeiss Victory pockets 8x25 for second set/lightweight. Both binos are set up with a Rick Young Harness. I know weight and size is one of your concerns, the Rick Young harness will completely eliminate the weight and carry issue.
Damn this thread, going to cost me $1400

You will thank us later. People need to figure this out earlier in their hunting career vs later. Hunt enjoyment and success are directly related to how well you can see and find things you are looking for.Damn this thread, going to cost me $1400
No doubt. I’ve had perfectly fine 8x42 and 10x42s and a range finder that have served well over lots of deer hunting and have been thinking of making the jump to combined technology and this thread has made me decide to pull the trigger. You will thank us later. That is reassuring if I ever need to sell…which I expect I won’t. A son-in-law or grandkid will likely receive someday.Only cost ya the difference in what ya paid and what you sold it for
