I see benefit to wearing comfortable darker khaki, browns, and green colored cotton cargo pants, and long sleeve neutral color shirts, and a wide brim hat etc. However, trying to mimic very early 1900s style hunting clothes to go on a hunt feels odd to me. I have nothing against anyone who does it. If it makes you happy, I think you should do it.
For me, personally, getting all dressed up in less comfortable 1930's era specific clothing and pith helmet/hats to go on a hunt doesn't appeal to me. Some people like it because it makes them feel like Ernest Hemingway, and I am happy for them, and happy it brings them happiness.
I feel like some people going to Africa not knowing what it is like, think this might be the norm for hunters and want to do it so they fit in to some degree, but it really isn't the norm there either. So just wear reasonable neutral colored clothes, or if it brings you happiness, go all out in hemingway inspired attire. As long as you are having a good time and being safe and polite, that's what really matters.
