SOUTH AFRICA: Time To Go Buffalo Hunting

Congrats on the Vaal John!! Your on a roll!!!!

You are having a heck of a hunt. Nice Vaalie. Congrats and good shooting. Bruce

We all have those days I guess...Marius put me on a nice cape bushbuck this morning and I just plain shot over him barely grazing his back. We checked for blood for hours while trying to locate him to no avail. Hate wounding an animal. Then right after lunch we spotted 2 rams , we made a stalk but the one ram moved into the brush , heavy thick brush, all we could see was his head, and he was a stud! Marius and I were so disappointed. Later on we made a long stalk on a very good waterbuck but got busted seconds before setting up by several blue wildebeest. That kind of a day. Tomorrow we try our luck and hopefully some redemption on klipsringer. Will try again next week for waterbuck and bushbuck.

Well you were due an off day, you were on a roll. Good luck tomorrow! Look forward to see pictures of a beautiful klipspringer!

Thanks buddy, always tough when you wound an animal without recovery. Beat myself up pretty good. Redemption coming soon.!

John we all do buddy, I was literally talking to my wife about a doe I didn't recover last year this morning. Hang in there, get redemption and enjoy yourself.

I stuck a doe during bow season when I was a teenager that I still feel guilty about not finding. Your redemption is coming!

Crap happens. Your not the only hunter that ever muffed a shot. You won't be the last either. Shake it off and make the next one. You can do it. Bruce

Nice work bud!!!! Very jealous

Short Memory.....head back in the game. Make the next shot. I know you will!

Best of luck on the remainder of the hunt!

I still think about the warthog that made it to his hole before he expired in May. That memory will last a long time. Having the shot on video doesn't help my case any either. I've watched it several times over just to try and figure out what went wrong. It's hard to overcome but when you redeem yourself it does ease the pain a bit. Hang in there you'll get one... Good luck on the klipie...

Missed a Vaalie with Marius last year at around 300 yds and still thinking about it; so know the ups and downs of hunting them; never got another chance rest of day spent on them.

Good luck on rest of what looks like a terrific hunt.

For anyone still interested in this thread...Went klipsringer hunting today didn't see much at all. Saw one lone female but not a single male. Saw some mountain reed buck but that's about it. Long day. Traveled back to the lodge 3 hour trip had a late dinner, tomorrow we try our luck again on waterbuck and cape bushbuck.

Of course we are still interested @johnnyblues, good luck tomorrow! Both those guys are on my tentative list for next spring

This is "hunting" Johnnyblues and not "killing". If you don't get them all, it just gives you more reason to go back...at least that's what I say and I'm sticking to it!

Keep after them. Persistence is usually rewarded eventually. Sometimes it just doesn't and then bam you get a couple close together. Good luck. Bruce

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
