Soooo you got a new President...

Fair enough...

I fully expect some broken promises and a good bit of back peddling to occur over the next 4 years.. I can't think of a single president in my lifetime, republican or democrat that hasn't done that..

What remains to be seen is how much or little of that occurs...

We are also talking about the guy that wrote "The Art of the Deal".. a master negotiator...

Business 101... start negotiations high.. well above what you actually want or expect to get.. and allow the other side to feel like they accomplished something when you allow them to negotiate you to the position you actually wanted to be in all along... always have an exit strategy.. and always have a best alternative to non agreement in your pocket that is fully planned out and you are prepared to execute if necessary...

If you don't think that's how this game is being played right now, you really should look harder at what's going on...

Judges and politicians still haven't figured out what it is they are dealing with yet... or how the rules have changed on them...

Those are pretty elementary negotiating rules, known to most CEOs and lawyers. What do you do when the other side knows and plays the same game? Whichever side wants the deal the most, usually loses.

Like I said.. business 101... very elementary...

The observation is the other side doesn't appear to be playing the CEO game.. they are still trying to play the political game..

Both republicans in the primary and democrats in the general election lost and clearly never figured out that the game has changed on them...

The prediction is until the democrats do figure it out, they will continue to lose...

I would like to see him fail at banning Muslims or building an expensive boondoggle wall between US and Mexico, if that's what you mean.

On the other hand, I'd like to see him succeed at wiping out ISIS, if he can do so without putting us into another quagmire.

I was meaning as a president in general.

roland,
regarding banning muslims; he is only banning/vetting actually, people from 6 countries. that is until it can be proved who they are, and their intentions. not a ban, merely a determination of who they are. i suspect you would try to find background on a person you were going to hire for your business or as a housekeeper, no?

re the wall: a secure border, less drugs and illegals coming thru seems appropriate. do you have any fences around any of your personal property? if so, why? and if someone comes into your yard, are you going to feed, house, educate and pay for their medical needs? thats what happens when illegals come to america. i believe i saw it written somewhere yesterday, not sure if the numbers are right, but it gets the idea across;

cost of a wall on southern border= 9 billion
cost of taking care of illegals that cross that border = 90 billion a year

I don't have a problem with vetting new immigrants/arrivals. If we're going to do it by source of terrorists, we should be including Saudi, Egypt, and Pakistan.

But I haven't heard anything about Trump preparing to vet immigrants from the six nations now on the list. How is the status of this new vetting procedure? Has Trump appointed anyone to oversee this? What exactly is going to be involved in this "extreme vetting"? When does it start? He originally only said the ban would be for 90 days, but now he's now two months into the administration, and there seems to be no progress on setting up the new vetting. How about some news on this front?

I don't think the wall will work to keep out illegal immigrants. Most illegal immigrants arrive here on legal visas, and overstay the visa. The wall wouldn't keep them out, and won't keep most other illegals. How does the saying go? Build a 20-foot wall, and they'll bring a 25-foot ladder. The wall is a boondoggle, and an affront to our southern neighbor.

Roland it isn't a Muslim ban, it is a country ban, anyone from those 6 countries is banned regardless of religious affiliation.

Those 6 countries where determine by president Obama and the Intel he has. But I agree to your point, I would probably add a few more to the list based on previous attacks.

It's ironic, how most Trump haters, don't even know why they hate him. CNN must be subliminally brainwashing its wolly flock of viewers.

Trump want's to do good things for this country, and people are hating him for that. It just goes to show how totally messed up humanity has become.

But walls and bans will hurt peoples feelings...boohoohoo I'm in full support of crushing hopes an dreams If it means keeping AMERICA safer in the long run.

I agree with you on this... but would take it even further...

Why arent we scrubbing/vetting ALL new immigrants/arrivals?

Criminals, terrorists, and general assclowns are born everywhere.. we even make them here somewhat frequently..

I get (and agree) that we are the "land of opportunity", and have a rich history of immigration, etc..

But that doesnt mean you shouldnt meet certain standards of entry.. whether we are talking a tourist visa or someone applying for residency..

If you dont check out, you dont come in.. and if it takes a little longer to check you out.. so be it.. if you want to come here badly enough to see disneyland or take a job at Amazon.. you'll wait.. .

US Citizens getting business visas (temporary) to Saudi Arabia takes 2+ weeks on average.. Work visas (required to actually live/work there) can take a couple of months..

Why exactly is it a problem to slow down the process a bit on EVERYONE and thoroughly scrub ALL foreign nationals that want to enter our country?

I'd prefer less criminals, less terrorists, less people that want to suck in social welfare without working, etc. in general.. regardless of where they were born..

It is almost impossible to vet people from third world countries. The vetting process can not determine an American hater with malicious intentions.

youll never get them all...

but you certainly could get more than we currently are...

We, as a matter of practice vett the hell out of people in foreign countries before we interact with them in their own home country.. I cant tell you how many people I have been prohibited from allowing to attend a training event, or interfacing with because of Lehey Act vetting and/or other vetting processes..

The standards for getting a tourist visa to enter the US and actually spend time boots on the ground in this country, surrounded by US citizens, is lower than the standard established to attend a meeting with a US government representative in your own home country in many cases..

I find that ridiculous..

I would like to hear about all these promises Trump has kept. The Muslim ban doesn't seem to be working out too well for him.

it has only been 1 month, Obama had 8 years

well,
i agree, include more countries to be heavily vetted!

news on setting up vetting: liberal judges are blocking trumps ban of importing possible terrorists

well, the wall sure worked in israel to keep bad guys from blowing up israelies. like 95% less attacks. also, you did not answer the question about the fence around YOUR yard. why have one? i bet you would find that most illegals are not here on visas.

as far as dissing our southern neighbor, we already asked them to help manage the problem. did not work. in fact they helped a bunch of kids from south/central america to get to america. if you want more illegals here, you should fund a few of them to stay at your house. then you will have some real skin in the game. might cut into your trips to africa and other toys tho.

I have a fence around our yard but it's to keep the dogs IN. We have OTHER means of dealing with unauthorized immigrants, regardless of their nationality.
