What’s your load and MV?

I have a 358 Win on the way and have heard good reports on the 225gr .358 Sierra. Check Out North61 vids on YouTube.

The 9,5x47R is a shortend and necked down 11,15x60R, aka. .43 Mauser.

It originally was a target cartridge, but some found their way into sporting rifles.

….the .222 of the 1880's

Today, I made it to the range.

10 shots at 50 meters...... 3" group.

I am proud, ....because I thought, I could not hit a the broad side of a barn.

I am giving these a go in my 308 NM. They certainly have very nice packaging :);)

The runing boar competition season kicks off for another year next weekend, so today was spent making shiny .375H&H loads in preperation.

This is exciting for many reasons. Firstly, it marks the end of my practice load work up. No more shooting the thing off the bench! Secondly, it means the 375 is now ready to be used in anger for the first time, albeit only at paper beasties and lastly, it means I now need to buy more N150. It's a greedy rifle this, think I'll have to start buying powder in bulk.

Anyway, it'll be good to start irritating my range colleagues with the noisy new toy. It's a little more 'enthusiastic' in making its presence known than the typical moderated .223's people use and a string of 10 or so rounds in the space of a minute should leave an impression. At least I now have a dedicated running boar gun and that too with a true low power 'driven shooting' scope. Hopefully the scores will improve this season...

Quick load tells me that this load of 70.5gr H4831 at avg 2868 fps is pretty much max. Seems a tad slow but with a group like this I do believe this is the hunting load for the fall. I do like these A-Frames.

Well I finally did it. We ended up having to remodel the upstairs of my building due to some water damage. Once the roof was replaced we ripped out the old water damaged crap and gave it an overhaul.
It was a significant unexpected expense but we have a very very nice bird studio upstairs annnnnnnd I was able to finally put together my loading room. Now that it’s done all I have to do to load is walk up stairs after I finish work for the evening! Just in time considering I have to develop a load in my double rifle for Cape Buffalo in September and I want to put one together for my 30-06 for the PG I plan on hunting while I’m there.

I have to say I’m reeeeeaaaally excited about it. I’ve always dreamed of having my own dedicated reloading room.

Here's hoping you have many hours of manly contemplation amidst the powder and ball!

Keep these pictures so you can compare what it was, to what it will be 5 years from now!

Well, it's started. I finished loading a box of 375HH today and noticed I was getting low on 4064 so I went online. Nothing to be had. Sportsmans Warehouse, Scheels, Cabelas and Midway--nada, zilch, zero and not even able to backorder. I finally tried Brownells and lucked out and ordered an 8# keg. From their website it looks like they have a fair inventory of powders, or they did at 1800 today 17 March. Sooo, if you're contemplating adding to your supply, I suggest getting with it post haste. Looks like availability is decreasing rather rapidly.

Nice and roomy man cave. I'm jealous. Maybe one day soon I can also have such a spacious area.(y)

You better order 3or 4 more of those shelves cause it wont be long before you need I for powder 1for bullets and primers ,1 for brass and miscelanious BS and 1 for finished products,we have enough crappy days here in wyo in the winter I fill a shelf with cartridges and then spend the spring and summer shooting them up so as to have brass for winter loading ,LOL

I did order some more H4895 last night then took compete inventory. I've got plenty of all necessities I think- powder, brass, primers and bullets. Finished pillar bedding a rifle today so loaded up 5 of a known TSX load for that rifle just to see. May not shoot better at all but curious about change in POI and to make sure I didn't foul it up :)

Ironic, but TSXs are now either competitive with or quite a bit cheaper than other quality hunting bullets. So a lot of my load testing or regular range time is shooting TSXs in various calibers. They have also proven, generally, to be very accurate.

Doing inventory, I found this Dupont can from not that long ago either! It's original price was $5.30 on sale for $4.88. Also found an old 1lb cardboard Hodgdon can from very early in the powder business. $3.95 sticker on it. Good old, long gone days I guess

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
