RSA Travel COVID update May 11

The only option I see for Covid 19 on the list on the AfricaCDC page is SARS-cov-2
Is that what you guys are using to get this validation?
Yes. Fill out the info they ask for from your vaccine card, take a photo of the card and download it from your photos when prompted to do so.

Are you guys enabling the passport usage?
What is the place of issue?
Country of issue is United States. I see no “place” of issue.

I put TX in “place of issue”. Hell, I don’t know. I did speak with Patrick at TWG this afternoon and he was in the middle of composing an email to numerous travelers advising them to get a PCR test. He said this QR thing was solely at Johannesburg. No other airports. I guess Capetown would be the other airport taking in international flights. Some modern day warlord wanting to sell Covid tests

Just for good measure I went into the africacdc.org website and tried to get a "travel pass" and it bombed out twice.

Perhaps way too many folks on the forum are trying to access it at one time. I'll try again later.
Keep trying Jim. It'll eventually let you in. Kind of like bidding for something on GB! LOL

Thanks, Guys.
At least received a provisional number and bar code. Will sit tight and see what happens.

Not vaccinated, what test do I need, I fly out May 22 to SA for 2 weeks?

I believe you need the PCR test within 24 hours of your first flight.

Check the airport you are flying out of. A number of them have testing centers set up with a fairly quick turnaround

Get the PCR test. No more than 72 hours before your initial flight. Upload it to your airline’s website. Keep a copy or two. Make sure it has a QR code

And the way these rules are ever changing with the phases of the moon, a rapid nose swab Antigen test may not be acceptable on your way back and you'll have to get an anal swab test at the airport? Make sure your underwear is clean. LOL

If they want a anal swab they better be prepared for what might come out.

So I just checked my local Walgreens – the PCR test here in Missouri wall greens do not include a QR code. I think somewhere else on this thread somebody had mentioned Walgreens and that’s the reason I drove to my local Walgreens to ask. That being said, and it may also be on this thread or the other big thread, does the BiNaxNow rapid test work? I know the test Hass to be proctored online and the result is emailed to you for which I guess you can upload it to an app called Verifly (spelling?)? Because it as it stands now, I have no way of getting in my state a QR code for my PCR test that I will take before I depart to South Africa within 72 hours prior to arrival and nor will I be able to get a QR code for my current CDC proof of vaccination card. Again as I said earlier in the thread – I did sign up for that African CDC website and have the provincial validation certificate. But again – the QR code does not work at this point. This is all just such absolute insanity… Jennifer at Travel Express who I spoke to this afternoon is going crazy about all this as well! She is going to send out an email to all of the clients that are going to be traveling there within the next couple weeks, including myself, on possible thoughts. As stated previously by someone else – at the very least get a PCR test within 72 hours prior to arrival at Johannesburg as well as carry your vaccine card if you have one and just pray that it works I guess.

That'll be their "tip"! LOL

Maybe the QR code is in Swahili? LOL Who knows at this point? I do know, I have a QR code generated on their website with all of my information included, so that's what I'm going with.

I called around to a few urgent cares near me and two of them said that they will provide a QR code and physicians signature for a RT-PCR test. Have you tried to call around to them?

I got lucky this afternoon. I got my vaccines thru Baylor Hospital and when I called they told me how to access my chart and print out my vaccine records that have a QR code on them. I also have a PCR lined up that does QR code as back up. it all works next Tuesday.

I know the hospital I work for doesn’t have the QR code on the RT-PCR test (thus the urgent cares around here won’t either)- but I am going to call the Any Lab Test place here- maybe they do?

Hell I'd call them all. You might be surprised. Our local hospital is the kind where if you are having an emergency its best to keep driving but the urgent cares are more modern

Theres also this company but not sure if they do QRs

I'm wondering what QR code readers actually work for medical stuff. Is there some type of encryption that is stopping stuff from being read by just any reader? I know nothing about this stuff so maybe that's all just fantasy but that was my worry about using the smart health cards we have here. Can someone in a different country easily read the QR code using whatever reader app/device they have available to them? It seems weird that we have medical/personal data that would be easily read by anyone hauling around a smart phone with a QR reader.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
