RSA Travel COVID update May 11

I found this link. I set up an account and entered my vaccine particulars. It approved me and gave me a QR code certificate. It appears to be a standard for African Countries.??

I forgot all about that site because at the time they were pushing it for test validations. Seeing how they also do vaccine validations, this seems like the best option since it'd be super shocking that South Africa couldn't read the QR code specific to their system. I had already set up an account thinking I'd need it for my trip last June and logged in and got everything entered and got a provisional certificate. I'll see how long it takes for someone to actually look at my info and give me a good validation but so far it was easy as can be.

Thank you Sir for the link !
I just did it and it gave me a QR code document approved.

FYI for those in Texas.
ARC Point Labs which are in most areas will do PCR tests with QR code’s and time stamps on them. You just have to ask is all.
Just talked to them and I am all lined up for a Monday test for Tuesday departure.

Well I appreciate FWB letting us all know the issues he had and give us all the opportunity to prepare for it. Thanks!

@Mark Biggerstaff @Mike B. @Pheroze
Hopefully this site works for those of us going over in the near future. If you can when you get there, post back on this thread about the QR code from this African site and it if sufficed for entry.

Thanks to all who have posted. going in August. just set up Trusted vaccine account with provisional certification. downloaded CVS QR code for booster, trying to get code for initial vaccine doses.

Thank you for the link. I believe that I completed it correctly? I did receive a bar code after I submitted all requested information and have printed out copies. I could not find an APP for the website, so I'm assuming the printed copy will suffice? I did take a screen shot as well.

Have a great trip Mark!

Here goes nothing. I got the QR code from Africa CDC website as well. Wheels up tomorrow from ATL to Joburg.

Good luck. I am sure many members are waiting for your report/results.

Thanks @Pheroze! I wasn't able to obtain my Covid vaccination record from Colorado's website as my phone (or their website) wouldn't scan the bar code on the back of my drivers' license. I WAS able to get the Covid Travel Pass (with QR code) through the Africa CDC website you provided.

I certainly hope it is useful. There is nothing that specifically let's us know we should be using it, which isn't very helpful

I’m following this thread closely as well as I leave for RSA on 27 May. I have signed up for the africacdc vaccine card validation for QR code also because my state of Missouri does not have QR codes on our CDC vaccine cards and the PCR tests do not have a QR code on them either. Thank you @Pheroze for the info on that website! Hopefully that will be sufficient. Spoke with Jacques Spamer of JKO Safaris that I will be with this morning and this is all news to him as his US client that arrived in the last 1-2 days only had to show his vaccine card (without QR code) at OR Tambo and that was it- he didn’t even have a PCR or RAT…

The beauty of the africacdc.org website is that anyone in the world travelling through RSA for hunting/tourism can obtain a Covid vaccine "travel pass" with a QR code. As you well know, the only thing necessary is the vaccine card from your home country which must be downloaded to their website. I took a photo of mine and downloaded it to their website from my photo album on my phone. Really easy to do even for a tech challenged person like me. Thanks again for sharing their website with all of us here, because it seems this new rule is a surprise to most of us.

Just for good measure I went into the africacdc.org website and tried to get a "travel pass" and it bombed out twice.

Perhaps way too many folks on the forum are trying to access it at one time. I'll try again later.

I got the Africacdc QR code but it doesn’t link to anything. Goofed up?

It appears that it is a “provisional validation”- I’m sure it takes time to be “fully validated”. Question is- how long does it take to be fully validated? That is why it’s important to see those that just signed up for this and are headed to RSA in the next couple of days to answer if it is good enough to get thru customs in RSA…

The only option I see for Covid 19 on the list on the AfricaCDC page is SARS-cov-2
Is that what you guys are using to get this validation?

Yes, that is what you would use. Mine is still showing as provisional as well. I entered mine in late last night so I will jump on here as soon as I see any type of change, or even worse if there is no change over the next few days. My trip isn't until June 5th so I have time to mess with things.
