Politics

The issue is that LAPD should handle this.. Trump use this to fight Newcom politically by overriding his decisions and deploy NG and Marines. Troops on the street may be pouring gas on the situation..

this statement demonstrates how little you know or understand about US law enforcement and how state and federal government agencies in the US deal with violent civil disobedience..

LAPD doesn't have the manpower to handle this, and only a small fraction of the force has any training in crowd control tactics or has the gear to handle the problem...

and while a 3-4,000 LAPD surround a riot that covers several square miles and involves thousands of people, who is out on the streets of the rest of Los Angeles keeping all of the rest of the citizens safe?

one of the primary purposes of the National Guard is to deal with natural disasters and civil disobedience. certain units within the national guard receive crowd control training and have the proper equipment to deal with the problem... and the National Guard is managed by the governor.. only if the governor fails to act with the NG does the President get involved..

Troops on the street (national guard) is EXACTLY how things are handled in the US when this occurs.. its been this way since the 1960's... but you believe Trump should adopt some other policy or some other tactic?

US Marines have also been deployed prior to this to help with riots in Los Angeles. 1/7 Marines deployed from Camp Pendleton in California in 1992 when the Rodney King riots became too much for the LAPD, California State Police, and California National Guard to handle..

But Trump doing exactly what his predecessors have done in these exact same situations is "pouring gas" on the situation, when the same tactics have been proven effective and have been used for more than 60 years by other presidents?

Edited to add: FWIW, this is something I know at least a thing or two about..

that's one of the text books used in a number of law enforcement academies across the US as well as in some undergraduate level criminal justice programs at a few universities in the US.. .

I wrote multiple chapters in that book (you can see my name in the list of authors).. one of which was the module on crowd control tactics.. which includes information about how riots are handled, how things are managed from an interagency perspective, etc..

Still looking for the part that says I can be violent and cause injury or harm to law enforcement agents or military personnel…… maybe one of you foreigners can point that out for me……

September 1957, Little Rock Arkansas
  • Executive Order 10730:
Eisenhower used Executive Order 10730 to place the Arkansas National Guard under federal control. This meant the guard became part of the U.S. Army and was responsible for maintaining order and enforcing federal law, specifically the desegregation order.
  • 101st Airborne Division:
Eisenhower also sent troops from the 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock to assist the federalized National Guard in enforcing the desegregation.
June 1963, Tuscaloosa, Alabama

In 1963, when Alabama Governor George Wallace refused to desegregate the University of Alabama, President Kennedy turned to the Alabama National Guard, federalizing them. Major General Henry Graham, Alabama’s Adjutant General, confronted Wallace, who finally stepped aside and African American students were able to register for classes.

So, you come into the US illegally, you want the US population to have sympathy and compassion for you, you want the US government to grant you political asylum and give you a green card and work permit. But you wave the flag of the sh*t hole country you ran from. Hmmm, let me think about this for a moment. Go back to the sh*thole country you left and change that government.

I don’t know if the link will work so I also snapped a screenshot. This came along in my FB feed.

Some of Trump’s supposed “compatriots,” to borrow an above poster’s phrase, “peacefully protesting” against a news van. You can’t see it in this frame but in the full clip you can see that the van is completely surrounded by people in black hoodies and masks, some wearing various South American flags as capes, screaming and attacking the van.

Again, I suspect this is not what the framers intended when peaceful assembly was included in the Bill of Rights.

SMH, these idiots are attacking and destroying a van of one of the most liberal Latin televisions. That is how stupid they are. Wow!

No..but America is clearly getting more and more divided politically..

Actually, that is not the case at all according to the stats from registered voters taken from the 2024 election... There was a national surge in republican voter registration along with a significant swing towards conservatism among demographics that historically have not voted for republicans or conservatism. The conservative movement was most significant with the youth vote, black males, and Hispanics that had traditionally voted democrat. Trump campaigned much differently this time around appealing to these demographics much more so than the obviously disingenuous democrat candidates like Harris and Waltz. Trump was the cool candidate that the younger voters rallied toward while resoundingly rejecting the woke nonsense that the left doubled down on in defeat...

What you are seeing is not a growing division, but a democratic party in this country that has continued to shift even farther left politically with a much more vocal and more radicalized fringe that has taken over the party at least in regard to MSM coverage and the propaganda...

I fully agree that burning the flag of the country you want to live in and wave the flag of the country you dont want to live i (Mexico) is insane.. But you cant shoot or burn them to death..
If they are throwing lethal weapons(fire bombs) then yes you most certainly can shoot them.....

The feds are just playing nice at this point and it's the same reason the rioters are NOT bringing guns to the "protests" because they know they will LOSE that engagement FAST!

These "protesters" are also chanting "F**K NEWSON - F**K BASS" because they know they will do nothing to stop them, Newsom and Bass would rather let their city burn to the ground than appear to be anti-immigrant....... in a state flooded with illegal immigrants that give their party voting power - remember, congressional seats are based on population alone & NOT LEGAL CITIZENS!

Truth is - Both Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass are HAPPY that Trump sent in the national guard and marines without them asking; because the last thing they want to do is lose face to the leftist hoard that will turn on you the minute you disagree with the group think.

We've seen how Bass & Newsom handle both natural disasters & riots before = EPIC FAILURE!

Trump is trying to keep this from becoming like the LA riots of 1992.

Que the rooftop Korean montage.........

The Koreans = Immigrants that were having NONE of the leftist bullshit destroying their hard work and is a clear example of how LEGAL immigration benefits the USA.

It's been stated that Iran has enough enriched weapons grade Uranium for 10 warheads.
Do they have detonable technology for those warheads, and a legitimate delivery system?
Do they dare use it?
Yes, they have been working with the NORKS, who have demonstrated capability. At this point, the Russians likely will gladly help too. Smuggling a missile or truck carried bomb in through Mexico would be my top concern.

Iran’s calculus is driven by zealotry with a big dose of rabid hatred for the US and Israel. I have zero doubt they will nuke a US city or even more. They could care less if they are vaporized. That view comes from two different people I grew to know, who fled Iran decades ago.

This is Trump theatre..political theatre..calling him Newscum etc.

But it seems rather futile to point this out to you people..who think its ok to shoot at protesters with live ammunition and spray them with gasoline and ignite them..

I don't think you understand, or simply do not want to. Let's go through some basics.

1 - know the difference between protesting and peaceful assembly vs violent riots. ... the left and media are quick to label these LA and the George Floyd events as "mostly peaceful protests" but Jan 6 was an insurrection. I dont know how any events with burning cars/buildings, shooting fireworks (explosives), throwing molotav cocktails, beating people in the streets, looting, etc. can be viewed as "mostly peaceful." It is straight up rioting and violent, dangerous activity. During Jan 6, people were let into buildings by security, they walked around taking pictures, but very little actual damage or violence was displayed. You tell me which of these events you'd rather find yourself go through as a citizen of that community. And if your answer isn't DC for Jan 6, I immediately dismiss any further thoughts you have on the subject because youre either lying or mentally challenged.

2 - you keep making this some form of Trump is bad issue, or Trump vs Newsome. Once again, would you rather have your city/state (local) officials do nothing to protect you and your city, or federal officials taking action to stop the violence. ... neither Trump nor Newsome started these riots, but one of them is willing to stop them from continuing, which is exactly what needs to be done. Send force in numbers and stop the problem from continuing.

3- think about what these riots are actually about. People are "protesting" the enforcement of state and federal laws, and wanting to stop legal law enforcement personnel from doing their jobs.

4- stop trying to make this into something its not... none of the National Guard, Marines, nor LAPD are using lethal rounds or spraying the protesters with gasoline so they set themselves on fire. ... yes, some members here have said (I believe in jest, but perhaps not) thy are Ok with such force being applied. That doesnt mean its actually happening. -- I stated a couple pages ago that if there were real force used, the bullshit would stop and quickly. Too many feel that their actions have no consequences, but if they did it would change things in a hurry. I am not advocating lethal action, but I do support harsh force. The best parallel i can give is today's cotton candy assed approach to give a kid a time out when they really deserve to get their ass beat: you dont have to start at a level 10 reaction, but you should absolutely be willing to work your way up to it until the punishment discourages the bad behavior.

I've got a lot more to say on the topic, but if the above doesn’t sink in, the rest is wasted time talking to you. But I do want to leave you with 1 very specific question after you've considered the above.

Do you support the LA Rioters in their actions, exactly as they are unfolding over the past several days, and feel they are in the right to continue without any intervention?
