Politics

I know you and others around here seem to think you have a crystal ball and can see the future but you cant. Just a lot of supposin' going on.
I actually have and use a crystal ball. Well, OK it's actually a "Magic 8 Ball". You know, the one where you ask it questions and it gives you an answer? I've found it actually more accurate than Punxsutawney Phil's 39% accuracy rate when predicting how much longer winter will last. It's also about 50% more accurate than the experts here predicting the weather AND some 80% more accurate than the experts predicting Political outcomes. So...... LOL

And you and others around here are doing exactly the same thing in assuming Russia achieving its strategic goals are of no matter to you or the future of your family. I have tried to offer a lot of evidence why thwarting Russian ambitions is a critical national interest. The counter argument seems to primarily be I either quote "rarified adolescents" (who actually know what they are talking about but don't fit someone's confirmation biases), or someone screams "border."

I have said many times in this conversation that both the border and Ukraine are both critical interests. A great power ought to be able to walk and chew gum. Instead of doing both, we are going to do neither.

I know everyone on the right is high fiving the death of the border compromise. It is far from perfect. But, for arguments sake, I would point out that both the Border Patrol Union and the National Chamber of Commerce support the bill. But thanks to Donald Trump, who desperately needs a chaotic border in an improving economic environment, we will do nothing about it before November, while consigning thousands more Ukrainians to unnecessary death and maiming through inadequate support. And should Biden (or whatever democrat) win in November, that bill my party killed, however flawed, will be a pipe dream after that.

And if you haven't noticed in the last couple of hours, my party has become so completely dysfunctional that it can't even call for and then win an impeachment vote on Mayorkas. Is it just me, or might the deeply religious Mike Johnson be in just a little bit over his head?

Just to round off the day, we shortly will have Tucker Carlson to reassure us what a broadminded and misunderstood KGB agent and current dictator in Moscow is.
Oh I noticed how well things are going in the House! I just dont get the shivers thinking about what Russia Russia Russia may or may not do if and when that fracas over there is resolved.
I worry a lot more about whats going on here on our shores, its bad and not getting any better.
I dont entirely discount the importance of whats going on over there, but its just not as important as what we have to contend with here is,, to me. YMMV
And while history is of course a great teacher, that doesnt mean that anyone can predict the future with any certainty. And as I have said here before, us getting all worked up about it when none of our opinions matter a whit, is just silly. We have no influence.

Just to put a ribbon atop of his demonstrated legislative leadership gifts, Mike Johnson couldn't even get his own bill through a Republican House to address military aid to Israel. The usual international sophisticates like Chip Roy and the remainder of the Freedom Caucus opposed it.

It sucks, but Biden already said he would Veto it, so its moot.

That isn't the point. We have an ungovernable House caucus led by an incompetent neophyte opposed by a largely united opposition party that has to do little more than stand by and watch.

Ooo!!! Ooo!!! I have!!! :E Celebrate:
Here's one for you. A guy I worked with went to the same elk camp for many years and they had a "permanent" shitter (elevated toilet seat over a hole dug into the ground). One year, they were going to "rehab" the hole prior to the season. When they lifted the toilet lid, there were a handful of $20 bills in the hole. Some guy had wiped his arse with those bills at one time before the current season. Unbelievable!

That would make laundering money a necessary enterprise :A Shades:

So I did some research on the comments that a mass coronal ejection, EMP, or other event would end civilization. The tale “2 billion could die” seems to be a belief that was held about 20 years ago during a study of the Bush administration. There were studies that occurred since then, taking in a number of real world case studies on a micro level, and the concerns are greatly diminished. While it would certainly be a major inconvenience, it appears that the consquences would be much milder than was formerly believed.

So who came to those conclusions?

Good question, because unless there's some magical way to restore the International electric gid system, most of us die a slow although maybe painless death? Starvation, dying of thirst, freezing to death, no more Starbucks, Bud Light or NFL football with Taylor Swift? I don't know? LOL

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
