A temporary change of subject: Australia had a joint-funding agreement with the US for development of specific satellite technology planned; only a day or two before signatures were due, our left-wing guvmint gave notice to the US that funding had been cancelled weeks ago; NEVER trust a left-wing Aussie politician.

Then please tell me what you believe constitutes a “well regulated militia” and how that covers concealed carry as a constitutional right….
"...the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
Pretty clear to me that I can keep and bear arms. Please tell me where you think you have the right to "infringe" upon how I choose to carry, or bear...?

Also, if you're really curious and not just looking to argue, I'll kindly refer you to Justice Scalia's majority opinion in the Helller case where he states they are not connected. Antonin Scalia IMO and many others, was one of, if not the most, intelligent Justices the Supreme Court has seen.

Yes and please see Warren Burger (R) opinion.

I get it and the NRA has done a great job of promoting the Scalia opinion. Or Scalia promoting the NRA's opinion....You get the idea

Which case, sorry? I'm not that old and not familiar.

I am not a lawyer….
But please read the second amendment in its entirety….

And yes I don’t like her actions either….

This doesn't speak directly to your question, but I find it funny when people try to say the 2nd amendment would not apply to AR's or AK's since they only had muskets at the time. Do these individuals not realize that private American citizens had warships with cannons and this was considered part of a "well regulated militia".

Yes sir 100%. If we are maintaining a "well regulated militia".....

You can google and have a basic understanding of English just like the rest of us without a law degree...Its all good

Maybe I am a bit blue collar, but at least my degree doesn't come from Wikipedia (congratulations BTW). I did a quick search because, as I said, Burger was before my time. Turns out WAY before my time, but I didn't see any Second Amendment opinion by him. I did see a bunch of soundbites mashed together, and an old man ranting about how he'd change the bill of rights....blah, blah, blah. If only he were a founding father......sheesh!
And as I supplied you with an actual case, I'm still waiting for the same courtesy there libbo......!?

And Heller is good law and the two are not connected.
Except by a comma. And yes I wish it was period also. Politics are fickle.

My very unqualified opinion is..... gun owner solidarity (refusal to give up gun rights and purchase more guns) is the only thing keeping gun ownership alive. Not the 2nd, or personal protection, or hunting rights....

And yes I respect that you are likely the most legally educated on AH. I hope we can share a beer some day....

yes we are both blue collar and support gun rights. Please don't get that confused.

The reality is in my opinion that we have not been following the 2nd for along time, and need to get back to supporting the amendment the way it was written.
Want to own a bazooka? Simply join your well regulated militia, take their training or whatever they require to own a bazooka, and go buy one....

The Militia part was explored in great detail and is explained in the Heller ruling with all the historical research...
It's simply a "prefatory clause". "the right of the people" part is pretty clear.

Here you go... it all started with the NFA in 1934....But the 2A has not changed...Go figure. Yup way before all our time...Please don't keep your head in the NRA sand....

The comment above covers your question. The second amendment DOES NOT grant the right to keep and bear arms. What it says is that the right to keep and bear arms is a God given right upon which the government may not infringe.

Just a question, but does the definition of militia not mean anyone of legal age to participate in military service. It does not say someone who is in military service.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
