I am so done with this guy. Doesn't have the emotional maturity to at least keep his mouth in check until after Tuesday.

I totally agree. He has the maturity of a kindergarten bully. I’ve never seen anything like it. Reasonably good fiscal policies and completely ridiculous personal behavior.

Do you think it will lose DeSantis a single vote? I don’t.

Trump gives sixty minute speeches to captive audiences and keeps them entertained, engaged and energized. He does this dozens of times a year all over the country, each time with new material, always based on recent events and mostly local events. That’s no easy feat.

I don’t see another republican effectively campaigning nationally for the party. Nor do I see another republican who has raised 5% as much money for the republican party in the last two years. And let’s face it, there is nothing that smooth talking, establishment republicans blue bloods love more than money.

McConnell recently took millions from Republicans candidates in battle ground states to help a rino in Alaska beat another republican. What’s more harmful to our party? McConnell’s silent treachery or Trumps nickname for DeSantis?

I think McConnell has worked effectively to win back the senate majority that Trump lost. Will see how it goes in a few days.

McConnell has worked effectively to enrich his family and those that keep him in power.

From a recent tweet by Bret Hume. A senior Fox New guy I happen to respect:

"McConnell's PACS spend tens of millions to help Trump-backed candidates, some of whom have attacked McConnell. Trump meanwhile sits on nearly all the money's he's raised."

DeSantis became governor because of Trump. Without Trump's support DeSantis would have lost.

DeSantis has done a great job for Florida. The Republican establishment is pushing DeSantis. They absolutely hate Trump. The Bush wing of the party along with the Congressional Republican Establishment want DeSantis. For the past few months, Trump has been portrayed as yesterday's news and DeSantis as the prince in waiting. DeSantis has done nothing to dispel this push and Trump feels slighted after helping DeSantis to the governorship. Evidently Trump tired of this and responded yesterday.

Trump controls the MAGA vote and thus the Republican vote. If Trump runs he wins the nomination. If Trump chooses not to run, whoever Trump endorses will win the nomination. DeSantis has burned his bridge with Trump. He needs to be careful or he may burn his bridge with the MAGA contingent. Without MAGA support, DeSantis will not win anything outside of Florida.

Good or bad, Trump will always respond when he feels insulted or threatened. What is ridiculous and unfortunate is that he didn't have the self control to wait a week for the midterms to be over to open his mouth.

McConnell's PACS raise money for Senate races. Trump's PACS are raising money for his reelection campaign. Trump pushed MAGA candidates in the primary and defeated the mainstream Republican candidates. He left McConnell having to fund the primary winner even if McConnell didn't care for them since they won't be beholden to him when they reach the senate. Trump is keeping his powder dry.

Bret Hume worked with Peter Jennings for 20 years too. I have never believed him to be a conservative. He has a great voice, talks slow and deliberately, coming off much like a professor, which a lot of people eat up.

I remember him going after Trump in 2016, being outraged that Trump would take personal attacks against him personally. (Like being called a racist for example). Remember, Republicans are just supposed to suck it up, turn the other cheek and never fight back. Like Bush 43 did. That’s what the media expects of Republicans. That’s what Bret Hume expects of Republicans. I expect something else.

I don’t see DeSantis running in 2024. I think Trump will have a clean run at it. I see those as the facts of the situation. So what are you guys who hate Trump going to do?

I love DeSantis by the way. His advisors won’t want to run a brutal, horrifically tough campaign against Trump in 2024, when he can walk in free and easy in 2028. Like Trump, DeSantis is one of the couple politicians who you can take at their word. He says he’s not interested in 2024 and he’s focused on Florida. I believe him. It will be good for Florida and have Republican coattails there for generations.

As for why Trump came up with that very clever nickname for DeSantis. Because he’s Trump, and he’s done that for 50 years. He’s not going to change now. The nickname is clever because republicans believe DeSantis should be untouchable. So when they get upset, they prove the nickname is somewhat accurate. Though, more reflection of trumps Republican adversaries, than DeSantis himself.

The blue blood Republicans in Congress and Senate did an awful lot to hurt Trump the first two years of his presidency. In doing so, they did a lot to hurt America! Obama‘s people (Brennan and Clapper to name a couple) would go on TV stating they’ve seen absolute proof of Trump Russian collusion. Yet they would testify on the same days, under oath, behind closed doors, to the Senate and House committees, that they’ve seen no proof of Trump Russian collusion. Republicans like Mitch McConnell could have done something about this nonsense but instead sided with the Democrats for as long as he could get away with it.

Agreed. I’ve ceased to be surprised at the behavior, however I would have hoped that he could restrain attacking another republican until after the midterms.

And yet Trump declined to take a salary, and his children divested themselves of many foreign interests.
Probability that he is running again if he doesn't want to properly back DeSantis?

I freely acknowledge what he accomplished - and what he didn't. He does 60 minutes of entertainment for roughly 20-25% of the party. If it helps secure that corner of the base for this election great.

But I am sick to tears of this infantile bully boy. He has no self control. The frigging election is Tuesday. His Quixotic quest to "release the Kraken" cost us the Senate (where many of his believing MAGA supporters failed to vote in the Georgia runoff because they were convinced by him and his surrogates that their votes wouldn't count.) His own ego seems far more important to him than the movement, the party, or even the country. In '24 he will be Biden's age at the time of his election. I suspect his issues will simply magnify. It is past time for him to move over and let a new generation of smart ARTICULATE conservatives like Lake, DeSantis et al take up the standard.

If he is the nominee of the party, I'll vote for him with great reluctance. I just hope we can be smarter than that.

this is exactly where I stand on the matter...

my single greatest concern is that many red voters will just stay home.. and that blue voters will turn out en masse out of fear of Orange Man Bad if Trump gets the nomination..

while I was a fan of much of his policy.. and was never really bothered by his antics.. I don't believe he can win another election... the red side needs to put forth a candidate that can take the white house in 2024.. trumps policy positions do us absolutely zero good if he is still sitting on the sidelines at his estate in Florida raising hell, pointing fingers, and calling people names rather than holding office (something I am convinced he will never hold again)..

. . . (something I am convinced he will never hold again)..

I am not so sure of that. Unless we have another pandemic, all the ballot harvesting and other antics will not be allowed. I think he can win. Sure the D’s will come out in droves, but so will the R’s.

My fear is that if Trump get the nomination, it will just be a replay of 2020, except that a number of Republicans who have become exasperated by his antics will either stay home or even vote Dem. Dems will come out in droves.
My personal view on Trump is that he is like some employees I’ve had: Great at doing the job, but a PITA to deal with.

Exactly. This is yet another example (in a loooong list) of why I sincerely hope he's not the choice in 2024, and why I believe he wasn't re-elected.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
