Go park your D4 dozer or tractor for thirty years in the rain and snow, and see how ready it is for a job.
I struggle to get my lawnmower to start each spring and it’s been in the garage all winter

Early during the Ukraine conflict, many people advocated for the US to supply A10 Warthogs to the Ukrainians. At the time, @Red Leg provided a very well informed and thorough explanation of why that wasn't considered a viable prospect.

Since then the situation has changed markedly. The Russian forces have been shown to be nothing like a 'peer force'. Much of their key formations have been severely degraded, including their air defence resources. Command and control are poor to abysmal and logistics strained.. Maybe its time to reconsider the idea as a tool to assist in breaking through the Russian defensive lines, for interdicting supply lines and clearing up scattered armored vehicles.

I love it when a 70 year old weapon system can still strike fear into a potential adversary's heart. Granted, the BUFF has been upgraded and modernized multiple times.

CANBERRA, Australia — The United States is preparing to deploy up to six nuclear-capable B-52 bombers in northern Australia, a news report said Monday, prompting China to accuse the U.S. of undermining regional peace and stability.

The United States is preparing to build dedicated facilities for the long-range bombers at Royal Australian Air Force Base Tindal in the Northern Territory, national broadcaster Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Why is it that everything has to be fear mongering in the news, it is a short flight from Guam or Alaska as well, but no sensational stories about that.

While yes the news is very sensational in their story telling this also is a the CCP talking here. They want the USA out of the pacific and they view any USA movements as highly provocative.

You think our media is bad give the CCP’s media a look. It’s comically bad.

C.J. Box, in his "Joe Pickett" novels has some interesting observations of the interactions of birds, especially eagles, with windmills. He also has quite a bit to say about people gaming the subsidy system concerning windmills. This leads me to suspect he is not a fan.
i too am not a fan.

its funny, i am a falconer and as a group we request to take 6 wild eagles (golden eagles) a year that are young and non breeding birds and have had all kinds of headwinds from the f&w. several years were not allowed to even take one, even in areas in wyoming and nevada that were suffering depredation from them.

but, windmills kill more than a 100 and some people suggest multiple 100's of golden eagles every year and yet, no penalties there!

A genuine break from politics.

Might have to revisit Popular Mechanics on how to build a biodiesel "still" in my garage? Wouldn't help the supply chain issues any, but at least I wouldn't have to walk to work or to the store to get food, beer and chewing tobacco? LOL

I am told, but don't know if factual, that the main issue with international shipping has been the requirement to shift from the traditional fuel oil used for container shipping to a low sulphur fuel. As a consequence most of the global cargo fleet is in the process of being sent for scrap and replaced by new cargo ships. It will be several years before the supply of ships catches up to the capacity scrapped.

Don't a lot of old ships burn something like a number 6 diesel fuel? I know some old boilers here in the US burn something similar. Some kind of black crap...

I was told by my Russian exchange students (some 20 years ago) that the diesel they burned in farm tractors over there was black. They were amazed how clean our diesel fuel looked.

I’m waiting for Booty-gig to suggest the EV-Marine and EV-Rail solution alternative to diesel for shipping. Come to think about it ole Pete’s been fairly invisible lately. Hmmm? Could be he is being held back and un-exposed for a last minute run in ‘24.

The black crap, bunker fuel A,B or C is the shit left after the distillation of gasoline, diesel fuel and other lighter hydrocarbons.
It is true that it contains tons of sulphur and other contaminants, but if it wasn’t used for ship fuel what would it be used for asphalt? That already comes out of the distillation process. Maybe they could but it back in the well to mature into light crude. The fucking greenies have as much brains as a pet rock. The stuff is already out of the ground, use it the best as possible. The process to use this as fuel really only lends itself to huge motors suitable to big ships.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
