I see where @spike.t ’s homegirl Kamala Harris has landed here to give the Commencement speech at the Air Force Academy. I saw Air Force 2 fly over my house yesterday and land at Peterson AF base here. I assumed that was her ride. Anyway, three of the F16 Thunderbirds flew over my house LOW this afternoon. I guess they were headed to Peterson to refuel as they had been practicing earlier for the Academy graduation flyover. It was very cool to see them.
I'm certain she will have left them speechless! ;)
I feel sorry for them and their parents and shudder at the thought of having to pretend interest and awe for that Commencement.

Speaking of communism and agriculture, during the years when Soviet crop quotas led to overproduction of a certain crop, the rates of alcoholism and the the type of vodka produced changed accordingly. For instance, in years when everyone planted beets, they made beet vodka, while in years when wheat was overproduced, they made wheat vodka.

I've had 13 Russian Ag or Veterinarian grads work for me over the course of a few years, and 3 from Poland. Probably 20 years ago now, plus or minus. They had lots to say about the practices back home.... non of it good!

Not Ag related but to the point. I had to supply certain things like work boots, and show them where and how to buy groceries including buying them food to supply them until their first paycheck.

Took a couple with me to Home Depot to buy a microwave. The guy was mumbling about something being amazing and he should have brought his camera. I inquired and he pointed at all the appliances and said it was just amazing to see such a selection of high quality stuff! They had never seen such a thing under communism nor after......

These people were from not from Moscow. And some of the stories from their Grandparents when the Communists took over. Barbaric and criminal.

people here do not know how good they have it and do not realize how bad it could get by asking for the govt to give more. My brother runs a county road crew down south, has a Cuban emigre working in his crew. The mother just came in and she is amazed at such choices of food in stores. She also visited her first gun show and was really amazed. She LOVES America. So do most of us.

A thought provoking video. A lot to unpack and not sure I agree with everything, but thought provoking. TED talks tend to be interesting and wide ranging.

Exactly! I saw how my grandparents' farms were confiscated for the good of the revolution, and there was nothing they could do about it. One of my uncles had been trying to get them back to no avail. I hate Communism, and yes "hate" is a harsh word, but I do. I've seen what it does to the country and the population. My grandpa used to say, "a good communist is a dead communist."

Just leaving this here. Please deliberate amongst forum members.

Couldn’t agree more about communism, socialism and fascism in the various combinations and iterations!

While capitalism constantly takes hits from without and within, it beats the heck out of any alternative I know of. Even large corporate (capitalistic) entities can have positive impacts for the “little people”. A fact that many times goes unnoticed. My wife and I will forever be in the debt of one of them. The Dole Corporation, one of the largest pineapple producers in the world, is responsible for my daughter being alive today. The Dole company hospital and doctors in Polomolok Philippines recognized a serious but correctable heart condition when she was an infant. They coordinated and paid for the necessary travel to and treatment in a specialized medical facility in Manila that saved her life. She is currently a junior in college working on a BSN in nursing here in the US. She proudly got her US citizenship last summer.

Apart from the incident where a secondary explosion (from an arms cache?) killed civilians the IDF seems to be confounding all the critics predicting doom in Rafah. One wonders as the noose gets progressively tightened at which point the holed up Hamas leadership will bolt?

He does a good job of identifying problems, not so much on the solutions.

Interesting and very thorough analysis of Russian losses to date. Begs several questions.

Hamas top leadership is already out of the country, bolted long time ago.
There's a lot of political and civil dissent against Netenyahu inside Israel now and this is not about Hamas or hostages anymore but him trying to survive.

JTFC. Here we go. Trump guilty.

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
