They should emasculate the bastard right before they hang him. There has to be some recourse for the family against NYC for putting this guy back on the streets!
Tip of the iceberg... one of 9-10 million so far in 3 1/2 years. And exactly who's the bastard or who are the bastards in charge of the administration that is encouraging them to enter illegally? And for what purpose? Could it be to form a permanent power and voter base?

I have tried to stay out of this Roman history discussion. But, Pax Romana lasted for 200 years until the death of Marcus Aurelius, It was hardly a rudderless multi-cultural society. Its success lay in its adaptability. With the exception of a few religious movements which would not accept Roman religious tolerance (Judaism and Christianity the most prominent), that tolerance created the longest period of European peace, and cultural and technical/scientific development until the Victorian era. The government was largely stable with an extraordinary professional bureaucracy and military. It is this period of Roman history that has given so much to modern Western Culture.

The Western Empire's slow collapse following the death of Marcus Aurelius can be attributed more to the collapse of its frontiers and resulting uncontrolled migration of Teutonic cultures than anything else. The professional Roman Army of the Republic and first two-hundred years of the Empire became one made up of these "immigrants." That I believe is what is the clearest warning to the US and the West and general.

But somehow, it still muddled on as the cultural center of the West until the Vandal sack of Rome until 455. Of course, Rome would rise again beginning in the mid-eighth century as the seat of Europe's cultural and religious reawakening. We should also remember it was this teetering Western Roman Empire that contributed its last great gift to the future of the West by organizing a Christian Gallo/Roman army and defeating Attila and Hun Coalition at the battle of Chalons or the Catalaunian Plains on June 20, 451. Most historians consider it one of the ten most decisive battles in the history of Western Civilization.

The Byzantine Empire or Eastern Empire should not be considered an afterthought. It was the Mediterranean's greatest power for more than six hundred years of its thousand year existence, providing a powerful bulwark against Asian expansion. It seemed capable of surviving every Asian threat until sacked by Christian Crusaders in 1204.

Byzantium was ruled by Roman law and Roman political institutions, and its official language was Latin, but Greek was also widely spoken, and students received education in Greek history, literature and culture. Greek would largely replaced Latin as the spoken language.

New York City politics and policy has put themselves on a downward spiral it may take decades to recover from. The decision in the Trump case probably only adds to the business climate in the City.

REIT's, Pension plans, and their investor/members are taking a bloodbath. Be careful where your money is invested.

For reference, this building is in midtown, four blocks from Rockefeller Center.

REITs are excellent investments IF you're not exposed to the turds.

All real estate segments are forecasted to remain flat or negative growth with two exceptions: 1.) Industrial (everybody needs more Amazon warehouses, etc.) 2.) Apartments (Millennials love to own nothing) Both of those segments are estimated to have 7% and 7.2% annualized growth nationwide. *Source: Greenstreet

If I were to invest in REITs (I am), I would look with great scrutiny to which major REIT has the least exposure to office buildings and strip malls, and the most exposure to apartments and industrial. Offices just aren't coming back, and the offices that were the most over inflated valuations are the ones that are going to have a super crash. (e.g. San Fran and NYC) Texas has had the highest Industrial segment growth, but Savannah, JAX, and Charleston are also very strong. Inland Empire of California has had explosive rent increases and is all in-fill at present with zero new ground building possible until you get all the way to Palm Springs. Goods and services must flow and people need cheap places to live: Industrial and Apartments, that's where the action is.

Another REIT that is doing very well is townhome/multifamily in the SE of the USA. There are REITs and investment groups that are buying and developing middle income townhomes near military bases and universities. Those are sound investment categories with tenants that pay their bills on time. Further, they are the least likely to be deadbeat squatters you can't evict because they graduate or get a military transfer, hence no desire to live rent free for a decade in the housing while fighting eviction.

Disclosure: I'm an investor in REITs and I'm affiliated with REITs. My opinions are my own as an investor and not the views of any particular company.

$1 plus assume $46 million debt

Manhattan Tower

At the end of last year, the fund sold its 29% stake in Manhattan’s 360 Park Avenue South for $1 to one of its partners, Boston Properties Inc., which also agreed to assume CPPIB’s share of the project’s debt. The investors, along with Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC Pte., bought the 20-story building in 2021 with plans to redevelop it into a modern workspace.

Boston Properties said last month that the selling partner — which the company didn’t name — had already spent $71 million on the project, but severing its ties released it from an obligation to commit an additional $46 million to the effort.

Depends on where one is. I got rid of my apartment complexes some years ago as I saw the writing on the wall with "rent control" and "tenants' rights" in CA.

I still have commercial buildings that I rent out as that is a stable business and not subject to rent control.

"This is the moment a US Reaper drone strike on Baghdad killed two commanders of Kataib Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy group that carried out a strike on American forces in Jordan, killing three soldiers and wounding dozens of others. CCTV footage captured from a nearby shop shows a flaming car roll down the street, where it was consumed by fire - killing all those inside. The dead men were named Abu Bakr al-Saadi and Arkan Al Alaywi, both of them high-ranking commanders within the Iranian proxy group, which regularly launches attacks on US troops in the Middle East but has stepped up its raids in the wake of Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip."

And from one of the comments:

"This was the bladed R9X missile. A variant of the legendary Hellfire. You can see the roof of the SUV caved in if you look closely as it rolls past the camera. What happened was the bladed missile hit the roof of the SUV and when it went through the floor of the vehicle, it ruptured the fuel tank or a fuel line, the fuel sprayed onto the hot exhaust pipes and started the fire. There was no explosive in the warhead. This shows just how frighteningly precise our guidance systems are. That thing hit DEAD CENTER in the roof of a moving SUV that was surrounded by other vehicles and pedestrians."

Minute of SUV accuracy does the job

Since the missile doesn't explode, wouldn't it be non-boom? Or maybe ouch!

As a prior post explained, the explosion and fire was a secondary explosion, suspected to be the car's own fuel exploding. The terrorist leaders might be alive today if they were in an EV. Demon hydrocarbons claim more lives.

Good catch! $46 million is certainly something. Loosing $71 million in three years certainly is too.

(tongue firmly in cheek...) Yes, but who would turn down $! from people who secretly would like to make it a haven where assassins "cannot conduct business on the premises" on pain of being sanctioned....lol. (could call it Wick Center)
