I agree. Any attack on a US flagged vessel, base, embassy, etc should result in meaningful retaliation. There are plenty of targets besides those residing within Islamic Republic itself.

The administration is still seemingly heavily invested in its nuclear arms negotiations with Iran. I suspect there is a pretty loud chorus from the supporters of that effort to not escalate the situation.
It was also reported that Biden just released another $10 billion to Iran. On top of the $6b. And as this is all going on. Unbelievable.

The problem we are going to have are people like me. I will vote solidly republican down ticket. I voted for Trump twice - I will not do it again.

Then it's one less Republican vote. Welcome to 4 more Dem years.
I get the argument - I would not hire him and I won't vote for him.

Israel-Hamas War............Israel-Palestine Peace
It's been 4 years since Pres Trump unveiled his Middle East Peace Plan entitled " Peace to Prosperity: A vision to improve the lives of the Palestinian and Israeli People". It was widely criticized, partly because it was a bit naive and partly because of the prevalent Trump Derangement Syndrome. Called by some "The deal of the Century" and by Arabs "The Farce of the Century", it did have some unique things about it. US negotiators used a mix of carrots and sticks. Former Presidential attempts used only carrots. In fact, Trump briefly cut off funds to Palestine when they failed to show up for a negotiating session. And he gave them a 4 year probationary period. Anyway, this plan included "The Abraham Accords"...which NPR says ..."these deals were brokered by The Trump White House to normalize relations between Israel and the Arabs. This was a complete rupture from recent history in which Arab nations made it clear that they would not negotiate....." They went on to say that Joe Biden fully embraces this achievement by Pres Trump. But it was doomed from the start.....185 democrats signed a letter saying they disagreed with and would not support the plan. They probably hadn't read it, but in fairness, the Republicans who endorsed it probably hadn't either. Some historians now believe that President Trump should have received the Nobel Peace Prize for The Abraham Accords...(Not the entire Peace Plan). Anyway, it was not followed up on, and events have unfolded that are heartbreaking to all in the region. Today, the USS Carney was attacked in The Red Sea. Hoping for safety for all the officers and men on that fine ship. And hoping this doesn't escalate beyond control........FWB

Don't know if it's true or not ....but I don't care ... :D Beers:

TO WHOM DOES THE LAND OF ISRAEL BELONG??
An Israeli sense of humour at United Nations set the record straight. An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations Assembly and made the world community smile.
A representative from Israel began: 'Before beginning my talk, I want to tell you something about Moses: When he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, "What a good opportunity to have a bath!"
Moses removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Palestinian had stolen them!
The Palestinian representative at the UN jumped up furiously and shouted, "What are you talking about? The Palestinians weren't there then."
The Israeli representative smiled and said, "And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech."

So, you would withhold a vote for a man whose policies you know for certain would not only improve your personal finances, but would make this country exponentially better on multiple facets for what exactly? Your pride? Your principles?

Voting against your own well-being is a liberal ideology that I absolutely do not get... :E Confused:

My pride? A liberal ideology? I suspect I am at least as informed a conservative as anyone on this forum. I also think I have a pretty good education with respect to the role and art of leadership. And yes, I certainly do have principles - a concept that seems totally foreign to Trump. Trump is not a conservative, and I am sick trying to make excuses for his leadership efforts.

So yes, I will withhold a vote from a man I would not trust to run any facet of the corporation in which I last served. I will not vote for a man whose fantasies about himself are as bad as Biden's senility. I will not vote for a man whose self-absorption seems far more important to him than the interests of this country. He will be a lame duck from day one, and if he can't carry the house and senate with him, then it hardly matters what he thinks or believes.

I pray for a miracle and the opportunity to vote for either Haley or DeSantis.

The vote includes the Cabinet and ~4,000 other political appointees. That one guy is just the mouth, the others do the work.

Is it wrong to ask where your tax dollars are going? Does it make you a "Russian Agent"? Do you owe it to your children and grand children not to burden them with debt, or at least, unnecessary debt?
The US budget is 6.3 trillion dollars. (6.48 spent in 2022). 4.6 trillion covers interest on the National Debt, and entitlements, like Social security, Medicaid, Medicare and health care for indigent. Only 1.7 trillion is discretionary income......and half of that goes to defense. Only 910 billion......that is less than 1 trillion, is available for ALL other govt programs (per OMB, look it up). Congress has allocated 113.4 billion to Ukraine. Joe has asked for another 24 billion that is still pending. That is 137 billion out of an available 910. By FAR the largest expenditure. But there's more...."only some transactions are publicly available...." they say and this does not include grants under the Ukraine Democracy Defense Act. This is why 3 US Congressmen have decried "$200 billion of your dollars is going to Ukraine". On the flip side, it is not all spent yet, and the war is nearly 2 years old. Is it fair to ask if Defense Sec LLoyd Austin was influenced by the millions he made as a board member of Raytheon? Or Anthony Blinken as CEO of Westexec? Or "The Big Guy" made by blackmailing Ukraine? Ya, I think it is. Courtney Kube of NBC published on Nov 3 an article "US and European officials broach topic of Ukraine peace talks....." It's gonna happen. It's about time. The Biden Crime Family has made enough at the public trough.......FWB

Beats me? I know people right now who say they didn't and won't vote for Trump but are or seem perfectly happy with Brandon who is obviously hell bent on destroying this country... which I believe is a continuation of BHO's purpose for his two terms. They would rather trash Trump and the 80 million people who support his ideas than fight against the real and known danger in Brandon and his ilk who are without a doubt trying to destroy the country. While claiming to be on our side, they are strangely silent on criticism of Brandon and the deep state traitors in his admin. That silence is telling. I say pick a side and defend it. But playing the game of intellectual BS and the false security of always taking the stance of "above the fray" to escape criticism is without core integrity or conviction. I'll leave it there and refrain from saying any more about what I really think.

Each to their own but I personally think it's hold your nose time once again. Yeah he's not the best but he's better than Biden or any Dem. Hell I'd go the Dem way and vote twice for Haley or DeSantis but that's not going to be the nominated candidate.

We would all love to hold to our principles but if every republican did so with regards to Trump (as the nominated Republican) then the world is doomed to 4 more years of Dem rule. And I fear that it will only get worse as the youth get more indoctrinated. So this election is the last chance for the republicans. If It doesn't change now the USA is doomed.

If Trump can shut his trap he may actually get things done as POTUS... even if he only accomplishes 10% it's better than the Dems taking the country into the abyss.

Wonder what the big guy's cut is.

Absolutely not true...

Trump could reverse an enormous amount of damage done by this current administration just on executive orders alone... Energy independence returns almost immediately, and the deliberately created disaster on the Southern border would be greatly mitigated. Furthermore, Trump's mere presence in office drastically changes the perspective of our enemies and the multitude of existential threats we face from China, Russia, Iran and North Korea...That alone is enough even without the House and the Senate, and we have legislative gridlock for 4 more years. No legislation is far better that bad legislation.

The point is that I do have core integrity.

I have integrity too, but maintaining my personal integrity doesn't even compare when the future of this country and my family's well-being is at stake... I won't be the one telling my grandkids that I'm sorry that they can't afford a house, a car, or food and they must now live in a crime-ridden 3rd-world shithole, but at least their grandfather's integrity is intact..
