Think you are slightly wrong there....they are at loggerheads with the EU over government policies that don't align with EU policies...which is why Germany etc is rubbing their hands together in joy at the likely results of the just happening elections....the EU has been withholding billions in post covid aid that other countries who toe the EU line have received.....Poland is considered to be going to be one of the biggest European economies in the future....

That is contrary to most corporate estimates of Poland's economic stability and market potential of which I am aware. Though I admit my expertise in that area is heavily weighted toward the defense sector.

But, it is also very different than the US military's assessment of Poland. Outside the UK, we generally regard them as the most professional, though not best equipped, NATO military with whom we regularly interact (meaningfully more professional than the better equipped Bundeswehr). Every senior military leader I know views them with respect and among our most trustworthy NATO partners - anything but pawns.

As @spike.t notes the recent parliamentary elections probably do not bode well for the continuation of that political independence. A future subordinate to Germany and as a ward of Brussels is far more likely.

Judging by the delay in Israeli ground actions in Gaza, Blinken's accelerating shuttle diplomacy, and Biden's comments (however confusing and indecipherable) on 60 Minutes last night, we are apparently putting enormous pressure on Israel not to enter Gaza.

I can't imagine a course of action more likely to lead to a prolonged hostage crisis and salvation of Hamas.

It is also quite possible that overnight Israel has recommended to the President that he pound sand.

President Biden has postponed his planned visit to Colorado on Monday and will instead remain at the White House as Israeli forces appear poised to invade Northern Gaza.

White House officials say Biden will participate in national security meetings throughout the day. His planned trip to Colorado would have been focused on his Bidenomics agenda.

I had no interaction with Polish forces but I had plenty interactions with Turkish military and I consider them the most professional and capable force I interacted even par with UK's ground forces among NATO members whom I also interacted with.
They also have a lot of small scale to medium scale combat experience and modern weapons which most manufactured locally including Bayraktar TB2 drones used by Ukraine successfully against Russian armor.
Obviously with the current leadership they're not as trustworthy as Poland and they're not getting billions of Euros from EU as Poland does.
