Are Gaetz and the gang of 8 really Republicans, or just a bunch of malcontent deranged narcissists?

Even former President Donald Trump recognizes their action as counterproductive. His statement from yesterday:
“Why is it that Republicans are always fighting among themselves, why aren’t they fighting the Radical Left Democrats who are destroying our country?”

No point running for the Republican nomination if the party is so chaotic it couldn't win a chook raffle much less the Presidency.

Sad to say but it looks like the US is facing at least another 4 years of a Democratic presidency, probably with Democrat majorities in both the House and Senate.

I’m convinced that the Republicans will need a complete meltdown in order to start over. Losing the House, Senate and Presidency in the most humiliating and crushing way. Then purge and rebuild. It’s their only hope now.

I think that already happened in 2020? You'd think something positive would have changed since then but apparently not.

If they have any sense they will vote in Scalise as speaker. He is a tough, experienced pragmatist and an infighter.

Yes! He's one of the few I can think of who would fit the Speakership role.

The only change we will see in 2024, is the end of the republic as we know it. The Democrats already have the election in the bag. Regardless of who they trot out on stage. Framing Trump, and getting him out of the picture is just an insurance policy for their victory
Democrats are the masters of cheat. Anyone that is ignorant enough to think that these elections are fair, I've got some beachfront property in south Tucson for sale.....dirt cheap.....right in the heart of wetback central.
The majority of the Republican party is weak, spineless, and has become stagnant. I'm glad to see some of these fringe right politicians shaking the swamp sugar tree. The entire Republican party needs a huge kick in the ass, and a serious reboot.
As long as people like McConnell & McCarthy are in charge, things will never change.......EVER! I repeat......EVER!

Some of you act like McCarthy getting ousted is the death of the Republican party. Im going to let you in on a little secret. THE DEMOCRATS KILLED THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. R.I.P

America hasn't had a budget since 2008. Congress has kicked the can with an endless string of continuing resolutions or omnibus spending bills.

In 2020 the budget skyrocketed by 2 trillion with covid. Congress and the President has maintained this massive budget even though covid is no longer an issue. Total debt is now over 33T.

McCarthy wanted to become Speaker but didn't have the votes.

McCarthy made promises to become Speaker.

McCarthy didn't honor his promises. This past week he approved another CR.

McCarthy got called out for breaking his promises. As he should have.

Democracy is messy. It always has been, from the vote to kill Socrates, to a Congressman being caned on the floor of the US Capitol, to a Congressman killing another Congressman in a duel. What happened today will be forgotten by most of us within a year.

You only get to honor promises if you have the power to do so. I believe that McCarthy did the best he could. Gaetz and the purists may have just squandered what little power that tiny republican majority could wield. Just brilliant strategy.

If we want to bring order back to the congress, we had better win the presidency and both houses. That Trump fellow had the opportunity in '16 and '17 and did nothing about it. Indeed expenditures went up dramatically. Hopefully, should it ever happen again, an actual fiscal conservative will be at the helm.

Donald J Trump for speaker of the house.
That will put Congress in meltdown mode.
Someone even suggested it on the floor today, and no one, republican or democrat, even paid attention.

I think we should legalize dueling again (with pellet guns) especially between Congressmen/women? Gaetz vs. Fetterman, Boebert vs. Pelosi. If one doesn't accept the duel challenge, they are banished to fast food delivery service (Door Dash, Grub Hub, etc.) for members of Congress until the next election cycle. Massive amounts of betting would take place with a portion of the proceeds used to help balance our $33 TRILLION Federal deficit. The more you play, the more the country wins. LOL

Yes, but I'll bet Gaetz and the boys' of Fall could try? Nothing to lose at this point. If they back Trump for President, why not Speaker in the interim?

Do you expect me to believe that 8 Republican patriots would vote to remove the Speaker of the House from their own party without having a plan going forward? Surely you jest.:cool:

McCarthy knew how many votes he had when he made those promises to become speaker. He wanted the power and got it. McCarthy did not do the following he said he would do:

1. Single subject spending bills.

2. 72 hours to read the spending bills.

3. Promised a return to pre-covid spending levels.

McCarthy did not have the strength of character to honor those promises. 91 Republicans voted against McCarthy. If anything, McCarthy is the one who sided with Democrats to get it passed.

I seldom listened to his words. I watched his demeanor throughout his term. He seemed weak. I saw and sensed confusion, no direction, no personality, no-fire-in-the-belly, no conviction... in other words, no leadership capacity, nada. His failure is no surprise. In some ways very similar to Pence. Well, that's three for three... Pothead Boehner, RINO Ryan now McCarthy.

Just saw the following post from Pelosi. What has McCarthy done letting Pelosi have the Speakers office the past nine months. Agree, not much leadership there.
